I’m going with old friend who’s from near Knocklong to see you in the Opera House in Cork next Saturday. I was wondering if you feel like doing this one song that I used to love hearin, Farmer Michael Hayes? For Dermot.
All the best,

Hi Christy,
Any thoughts of coming here to Calgary to play? Martin O’Connor was here a few years ago – it was a fabulous gig. And Sharon Shannon is here on March 15th and 16th – looking forward to that immensely. So maybe you might consider a trip sometime during 2016? I’ll promise to show you the sights of Alberta if you come!!
Best regards,
Gerry Madigan

Hey Madser..regrets Gearóid…aint gonna happen……stopped doing the long haul 17 years ago…have to keep an eye on the garden, feed the hens, only do road travel now….might do an on-line gig this year
Dear Christy,
we are going to travel a long way from Goettingen in Germany to your gig in Kilkenny on Saturday. This trip is a present and surprise for a loved colleague and friend. His name is Oliver Aha and because he saw you about 30 years ago in Dublin, one of his wishes or lifetime dreams is to see a gig of you in Ireland again. This will be fullfilled, maybe – if possible – with the dedication of his most favourite song “Black is the colour” for him. We are really looking forward to seeing you on stage on Saturday. Thanks a lot and regards,
Michaela and Arne
Christy's reply
we will do our best to serenade Oliver from Goettingen
Hi Christy,
I am heading to The Mullingar Park Hotel this Friday night to see you. My husband is a massive fan and this is the first time he has ever seen you live. I would really appreciate if you could dedicate a song to him “Shane Cassidy”, there is one in specific that he has been teaching our 6 year old Son lately “Delerium Tremens”. Your music has been a massive comfort to him especially over the past few years since loosing his Father. I know he would just be made up.
Kindest Regards, The Wife Linda.
I´m glad to attend your concert at Charleville in march. Will You play the story of the irisch boys travelling to Stuttgart for bringng back home the 1:0?
Hi Christy
In Central Library,Manchester today,I picked up an interesting flyer for ‘Broadside Day’,to be held in the hallowed halls of Chetham’s Library on Saturday.Great that its keeping trad song alive and in a location that’s a chapbook’s throw from the site of the old MSG folk club.Discussions and performances, ideal for ‘anoraks’ like me.
Quite a coup for the city as the day is usually held in London (surprise, surprise.)Promoted by EFDSS and a new organisation to me,the Traditional Song Forum .A set up well worth checking out at
Location Athlone – where the floodwaters have receded somewhat.
A good thread going on here in the posts and I like ‘Dagrabs’ contributions. I note someone here marked their fiftyseventh (!) concert, I began counting back once, I stopped counting at about thirty; and there were the ones I can recall going as far back as 1972. Like the poster below, it’s a rarity to hear a song at a Christy gig that I wouldnt be familiar with.
Christy's reply
heading for the 5,000 myself and still looking forward to Mullingar and Kilkenny this weekend
Hi Christy, Hope this finds you well…wet and windy here in the hills but all is good. Looking forward to the documentary in April and the new album in May …gonna be good I’m sure ..catch up along the way …Love & Respect Martin Mac
Dear Christy .
I was so fortunate to attend both gigs in the Glor … I was so impressed .. both nights were breathtaking .. You and the band really put a spell on me .. I was totally into the music and songs .. the sensitive musicians along with you was an experience far beyond what is usual .. Several times I got tears in my eyes, goosebumps on my arms and chills down my back. It was wonderful and I could listen to you and that band forever 🙂 Your gesture to the 9 year old boy learning to play guitar – was lovely .
Hope to see and hear you again later this year.
A huge hug from me ( and my daughter – who calls you “the sensitive male singer” )
Christy's reply
songs, music playing, good listeners, nice venue, collective emotion, sound and lighting sensitively engineered….goosebumps, tears, chills……..nights like this
Good to hear the never ending tour is back in swing again. Hope you enjoyed the rest and that all is good for the year ahead. An exciting year with the recordings, and documentaries to look forward to. Hopefully I’ll get a few gigs in along the way as well. Keep well.

10 songs recorded ..almost mixed..working on sleeve..running order…looking at an early May release..the new album buzz starting to tickle again…still remember the first one coming out in 1969…got my first copy in London and called to Noel (Nyaaaaah)Murphy’s gaff in Shepherd’s Bush…we spun it a few times and went over to Butty Sugrue’s to celebrate….very different process now but the anticipation and the buzz still there….thanks for your support and interest..see you along the Walls
This might be a long shot but I’m taking my beautiful wife of one year to your gig in the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny next Sat feb 20th to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and was wondering if there was any chance you could dedicate an oul song to her at some stage during the evening.
She has been a lifelong fan of yours ( shes 32) but has never heard you play live before.
So I m surprising her by driving her up to Kilkenny for the night without telling her a thing about where we ‘re going . I can’ t wait to see the look on her face when she realises whats going on !
So if there was any way you could do this it would only be marvellous and I ‘m sure would win me enough brownie points to see me clear through to at least the next six months of my second year of marriage ! ( shes a dutch woman you see and must be handled very carefully ! )
Thanks a mil in advance …..no worries if you can’t….we re goin to have a mighty night one way or the other !
Yours sincerely

Dia duit again Christy on this sunny Valentines morning. My husband Kevin went out to buy the Sunday papers. He returned with Ireland’s Own Valentine special for me…romantic or what! In the letters page someone has fears for Irish songs. There is a short story called The Limerick Lothario and another one called my date with a Spanish omelette. On page 32…If you feel like singing – sing an Irish song I was delighted to find Raglan Road followed by Nancy Spain …a popular love song which enjoyed great success for Christy Moore, heard at parties across Ireland. Kevin has sang it many times. The words and your photograph are there for all to enjoy. There will be one in a newsagents near you! Then in a while I’ll wander down by bluebell stream where wild flowers grow… Ádh mór Mary
Christy's reply
thats a good one Mary…delighted to make it into Ireland’s Own….counts for cool in my book….the late Barney Rushe ,who wrote Nancy Spain, would be well pleased too….
Morning,Christy
Back in the traps after a few days rambling around Berlin.Camera in hand and streets full of atmosphere and history. No doubt, some memories for you ,along the way of the Never ending Tour.Congrats on the 50 up…..
I got back in time to be at a fascinating gig at ‘The Band on the Wall’ last night.A tribute to the writings of Teeside’s Graham Miles.I must admit he has largely passed me by until now, certainly being outstripped by Ewan MacColl in terms of his profile.A fascinating gig with a lovely variety of songsters.
The Wilson family stormed the evening to a close but earlier, there was the mesmirising sound of the Unthanks and I finally got to see and hear your old mucker,Martin Wyndham Reed ,sounding wonderful and cutting some class fashion style .
Enjoy the gigs.Great new that the album Is ready.Hope the MacColl tribute shows come off.I’d love to hear you with The Unthanks. That would be would be a real treat.
Safe travels.

Dia duit a Christy, I was reading through the comments and came across the post from Nancy 64 dated January 23rd in respect of a project she is working on about the Spanish Civil War. At the Lammas Fair in Ballycastle a few years ago my husband came across a framed poster that was created to mark the 70th anniversary of the International Brigade. The dedication as Gaeilge: IN ÓMÓS Do NA BRIOGÁIDI IDIRNÁISIÚNTA (In Homage to the International Brigade) 1938 -2008 Barcelona. At bottom of the poster also as Gaeilge: Is stair sibh, is laochraí sibh (You are history, you are heroes). If Nancy reads this I would be glad to send her a copy of this wonderful poster. As always Ride on Christy. Best wishes Mary Shannon
Christy, my 57th time seeing you ‘live’ in Glòr last nite. I’ve seen u at the Trip to Tipp, Auburn Lodge, McGann’s in Boston, Royal Albert Hall, Dominion in Hammersmith, Cois na hAbhna, West County, Irish Embassy Cale Cod, Finsbury Park, Wexford Parish Hall (with Joe Monahan as support) and loads of other spots. When gigging, I used to pride myself tgat I knew every one of your songs. You have been an integral part of my life from an impressionable teenager to attending your Spanish Pont gig with my teenage kids.
What a real treasure last night was. You even sang my request – After the Deluge – you might think of adding that to the band set list – a different take on the Moving Hearts instrumental at the end! Could be powerful.
God, I was in heaven last nite & could have listened to you for another 2 hours.
Tommy McGann, Doolin & Boston, my best friend, kept a postcard u sent him from Sydney on his bedside locker in Cape Cod, alongside a pic of his parents and a pic of his daughter Sarah.
May the Lord preserve you to enable you to brighten up the lives of so many, inspire many as you have inspired me, for many years to come.
You are a medium of expression for the soul and conscience of modern Ireland, in your own Chrisy way. Thank you
Roll on gig number 58!
Let the music keep your spirits high
