p.s. I have been on sista site..
Dear Christy,
I really enjoyed your performance at Glastonbury 2015. Apart from seeing His Holiness The Dalai Lama on Sunday I thought your show on the Acoustic Stage was my highlight musically. Thank you for remembering the 30th anniversary of the Battle Of The Bean-Field because living in Wiltshire I remember that ugly incident very well when the government decided that a bunch of hippies on their way to celebrate the Solstice at Stonehenge were ‘The Enemy Within’ and brutally attacked them. I wrote a review of your set on my blog page if you would like to read it. Thanks for making Friday night so memorable. My review is here-http://patrickmaginty.blogspot.co.uk/
Christy's reply
Thanks for sharing your day in Glastonbury with us. I followed you all the way back to your “rancid sleeping bag” !
Hey Christy,
If you have a moment, please have a listen to this song my cousin Don McCloskey wrote about recent and tragic events here in the states. I’d love to hear a Christy version some day.
Thanks for sharing Kevin…. a great song about this awful murder…Don brings the listener right to the scene of the crime…the opening lines of “looking into the wrong pair of eyes” are chilling……great singing, playing and writing…..hope your Cousin keeps singing out
Saw you play, fantastic gig, agree that acoustic stage a better venue. I am so happy I finally got to see you play live, you played many of my favourite songs. Thank you!
Hi Christy,
MySelf and The Missus are headed over the pond from Newfoundland this week to catch your show at the Marquee. Its been a long time coming and we are both very excited. I have been listening to your music for many years now…and finally getting to hear it in person. Thanks for sharing your music and stories over the years.
Mike
Christy's reply
hope you both have a good trip Mike….I’ll have to polish up my Newfoundland Song and give it a spin….greeting to all songsters out there upon the green fields of Canada
Hi Christy,
I will be in Cork on July 4th with my son for your Gig.
I’m a yours fan for many years.
I hope to hold your hand on July 4.
I will bring to you two small but precious (for Me) gifts for you.
Let me know if you can come in Backstage.
I will be in Cork from July 2. July 5, we will move to Galway and then from July 6 three days in Dublin and then Italy.
thanks
Eustachio
Christy's reply
have a good trip Eustachio…you and your Son…soon as the concert ends I go straight into the Oxygen Tent, then its decompression chamber to stave off “The Bends”…then myself,The Band and The Crew sit down for an analysis meeting..this can go on for hours and can lead to complications…(after last years Apres Gig meeting an ambulance and 2 squad cars were required, two members of the crew and the saxophonist have not been seen since, altho I heard in Glastonbury that the Sax player was seen recently with Swedish House Mafia)……..that done I must depart for Kilruddery, in the Mountains of East Wicklow, where I will perform next Sunday.
I toured your great country twice. With Planxty in 1973 and solo in 1984…
All the best for your Glastonbury gig tonight, Damm the BBC not showing it or airing it on Radio, You should be on the pyramid stage bringing the curtains down on Sunday night, All the best to you and the Lads and October cant come quick enough, going to see you in the Barras and taking my good lady to see you in the Concert Hall, Shine on!
Christy's reply
I did the Pyramid stage twice in the past…. the Acoustic Tent is more to my liking….(its a bit like Barrowland)…..see you later
Enjoy Glasto! Can’t think of a finer candidate. No Kenny Rogers numbers now ; ) Dolly would be better… If I see wellies on ye, I might not be able to unsee it… Had a chat with Andy Irvine recently, seemed fairly relaxed, had met him before at Frank Harte’s posthumous release of ‘There’s Gangs of Them Digging’, but few remember me ha ha. Doesn’t look like I’ll be on the Groove fest, but still challenging them for it anyways, guess I like a scrap… Will aim to be there anyways! Blow the lighters out if they lift ’em… Again, enjoy!!
Christy's reply
sometimes I find it hard to remember who I am myself….other times I’m happy not to be remembered…its all in a days work….a lad was a bit offended last year when I did not recognise him…. he said he had met me in a Leeds Folk Club in 1967 ….
It was so nice to meet you in the hotel last Friday. Thank you so much for the tickets.. my friend was over the moon and as karma would have it, i owe her for numerous concert tickets ! She was so delighted and really had a ball.
I m hoping to get to the Cavan concert in October… … enjoy Glastonbury as Im sure you will !!!
Morning Christy.
Best of luck with the Glastonbury gig. Hope the BBC show some highlights. Stay dry in your tent and don’t let them wellies rub your feet.
best wishes
Hi Christy,
Long shot this
I wrote a song about Michael Collins to the air of “The city of Chicago”
and wondering how I would send this for you look at, or give your opinion about it or if it was recordable for you or someone else.
It is Michael Collins 125th Anniversary of his birth coming up so thought it would be nice to write a song about him, as I never heard of any song relating to him in the past.
Thanks again
Terry
We would love to see Christy and Declan perform in Boston – any intention of performing in the States soon ? Gearoid
Christy's reply
Gearóid….very busy here at the minute but as soon as we have the backlog in order we’ll have a chat with the man in charge and see if he’ll lave us off across the pond for a bit of sport and leisure..its 17 years now since I played Boston..far too long…whats the story there these days ? ..where are the gigs happning?
Hi Christy.. just want to say brilliant show at the forum in Derry last weekend! Also good luck on Friday night at Glastonbury. Was wondering what stage your on and if we will be able to catch any of it through some device or another? Cheers
Christy's reply
I have’nt got a clue what stage I’m on…as long as Mick Devine knows the job will be right…go onto the sister site..there may well be someone there willing to share a recording… I stopped handling devices a good while ago..I try and keep it simple these days..I’m all thumbs at the best of times
Dear Christy,
Me and my girlfriend we saw you at the Whelans Pub in Dublin when you performed the gig for Philip Chevron. To this day we talk alot about it. Then when we saw Luka Bloom in the Kulturkirche in Cologne we thought what an excellent and perfectly fitting venue this would be for you. We know the parish pastor there, Thomas Diederichs, he is working with the booking agency Prime Entertainment and designed his church to be also a famous concert venue. I ll leave a facebook link from the Kulturkirche and hope I got you a bit interested. Cant blame a man for trying.
Thanks Guido…I will pass this on to the relevent department…perhaps it may stir them into action….they sleep a lot at my Foreign Deparment…I visited there recently only to find them all snoring after a lunch of Swiss Cheese, Dutch Tomatoes, German Wine, Belgian Choclate, Danish Blue and Italian Pasta
Just booked a trip off the rock (Guernsey) for October half term. We decided to treat me, the missus and the two boys (11 & 13) to see the show in Liverpool on 24th Oct. At the same time I had also applied for tickets to whatever game was on at Old Trafford that weekend as the fixtures hadn’t been released. I got the 4 tickets and it happens to be Man U v City. Now I’m just praying that Sky will make it a Sunday game. What a weekend that will be.
Christy's reply
hope it all works out Corky…sounds like a good plan…I hope the game will be on Sunday, that its 5-5 at 90 mins, that the team your boys support score the-goal-of-the-year in the last seconds, that we play a scorcher at The old Philharmonic (I love that venue)
Thank you sooo much for the signed post card which Hilary kindly posted on to me. I was sorry I missed you at the end when you came out with it. I have taken it into school and brownies to show my friends and it is now on my pin board in my bedroom.
Big, big thanks to Adam also for the photos and the link to show – I was able to let my nanny and grampy listen to the dedication you did for me of Black is the colour.
Can’t wait to see you again…..maybe not on a school night this time 🙂
Grá agus ar mhianta is fearr (hope I got that right!)

Christy's reply
Well done Erin….míle maith agat mo grá….it was very special to have you listening at that Concert….let the music keep your spirits high
Christy, amazing gig in Derry on Saturday night. I’ve seen you loads of times before but Saturday night was extra special with Mairtin’s band. The trad music has opened a whole new world for me. A new live CD would be great to help us all relive the great gig. Keep er lit and I’m sure I will see you along the way again!
Christy's reply
we got into the zone on Saturday….we hope to record….Sat night was recorded..who knows what might happen…the team are on it
