Morning Christy great to be in Pearse Stadium last night you played a blinder a man of the match performance it was mighty gig on a beautiful evening in Salthill here’s looking forward to a return to normal great to meet the familiar faces
Take care face the puck out
Christy's reply
Morra Igg….I just went for it…caution to the wind…I pulled hard on the first ball, ’twas ground hurlin all the way after that….the crowd lifted me from the throw in…every sideline puck sailed between the posts and a few scorchers hit the back of the net….have you the hay in?..its all silage up this way …I have the turf bagged and hope to get it into the shed next week….
Are you giggin at all?..anything stirring down your way?….we drove the old road yesterday…lovely to see the Towns again…I did an outdoor gig on the pitch in Loughrea about 35 years ago..Sun afternoon on the back of a lorry….
we had some crackin gigs in CJ’s back then….you always had the crowd well revved up…hope ye are all well
there was a venue way back called “The Log Cabin” was it in Loughrea or Ballinasloe ?…I played there once and have good reason to remember…about 1985…I rem I was rehearsin for the “Ride On” album…I’ll tell you about it sometime
Hello Christy,
Oh it sounds brilliant. Wish I could habeen there to partake.
Do you think there might be any chance of adding live streaming into live gigs? Clutching at straws here.
This weekend my mum and dad are coming over and they’re bringing my two nephews to visit. Haven’t seen them in ages. My mum says, Samuel is 6 foot tall already, he’s 13. Isaac is 10.
Going to let them loose on my musical instruments. They’re both musical, choristers at Southwell minster, so it should be fun
I feel an awful temptation to send them home with a rude song. What else are black sheep aunties for? I’ll probably chicken out and teach them raggle taggle. I don’t think they’ll have heard folk music before.
I’m serious about the live and live streaming gigs… What do you think?
Rebecca
Christy's reply
Kids love rude songs…at 13 & 10 they may be past that age ….but no harm in trying….some parents can, betimes, be utterly disgusted at “shite” or “arse”
(or worse) appearing in a folk song…..feck them as Father Ted might say…feckin snotgoblinfuckpigs……dog forgive me
Hi Christy.
Thanks for a wonderful evening….. from the throw in you gave it Socks. What a pleasure it was to be there to witness you in full flow again.Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Best regards

I enjoyed every minute….”such a crowd I never seen before”….an ocean of welcoming faces….ye sang and celebrated the beautiful August evening away….I had a list of new songs ready to unveil….after 3 minutes I sez to myself..this aint no night for new songs… I rolled out the juke box we watched the Sun go down in Galway Bay
Hi Christy. Tonight, I’ll be in my pod looking up at the stage, sipping Club orange and waiting till you come out on stage. I’m watching the clock here and can’t wait to see ya! School on Tuesday, so I’m finishing the holidays strong. I’d like to request Joxer, but you usually do it anyway. I’ll be in your t-shirt that I got in leisure land two or three years ago. We’re coming early to get seats towards the front.
So see you in Salthill and dont forget your swimming togs! 😛

Hi Harry…Dont know what happened to Joxer….he got out of the van in Oranmore and that was the last we saw of him
On a wonderful, sunny day – perfect for travels and gigs, there’s heartening news of other enterprising events.
Via Leo O’Kelly’s newsletter, he recounts his first gig in aeons…last Monday, in Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow – as a guest of Ye Vagabonds (Brian and Diarmuid) on their inland waterways exploits – Leo describes a wonderful site/event…My Ireland envy has been bubbling with thoughts of Salthill, it’s now off the chart!
Hello Christy,
This is the day that the fisherman likes
And so do I
I hope it’s the best time for everyone. Love and joy to all.
I’ve got such a picture in my head of you watching the sport and matching the songs to the teams. Love it!
Here, the commentary on ITV and BTsport isn’t too bad. Austin Healey has a wicked tongue. It’s always awful on BBC. We get know it all sermons from various f…ing Sir rugby god smythes plus Jeremy guscott’s wall to wall moaning.
Steve watches a lot of TV. It’s often on when I’m practising. At first I found it difficult but now it’s good for focusing. Especially the adverts. They’re always in the wrong key.
I’m going to have to get netflix, I’ve seen it come up on the smart hub thing but never done anything about it. So I can watch the Count me in documentary.
Oh Rory, Seize the Day! Great choice of music. Some of them I need to listen to.
I hope the whole thing is brilliant for you and Sheila.
This is the day.
….all roads lead to Salthill and Pearse Stadium…..of course some will be heading to another Stadium on Saturday…..we can only dream.
Excitement is high for the gig here…and a larger crowd than expected originally
Will add to the occasion .
On the Road again….
Christy's reply
and there ye were Marty…great to get a glimpse….lovely hurlin
Evening Christy, great to hear you getting excited for gigging again.
For the guests assembling the songs are
Arctic monkeys…suck it and see
Christy moore…sail on jimmy
Ian dury…youre my baby
Fall out boy…im like a lawyer
Rod stewart…grace
Pogues…rainy night in soho
James grant…pray the dawn
Mark knopfler …going home
Bride’s entrance song…
Christy moore…voyage
Signing register…
John reilly…adieu unto all true lovers
Jamie T …sheila
David keenan…evidence of living
There you go Rebeccah, the cat is out the bag, and here is the wonder of Christy…sheila had never heard of CM until 3 years ago, and off her own bat chose Voyage for her entrance.
Rory
Christy's reply
I wish you both happiness and long life together….
Brilliant to get the pre gig buzz here. Much missed, by you in particular, I’m sure…Salthill will be a brilliant gig to get things up and running.
So good to rehearse the duo today. Fred and I had met many times since March 2020, but today was the firsr rime we’d played. Joni’s line about ‘you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone’ came to mind… two songs with crossover to your sets – ‘January Man’ and ‘Beeswing’…and a new arrangement to one of our favourites ‘ Darcy Farrow’ (ever come across it? – I can ‘hear’ your version…)so,now we’re set for more sessions and perhaps a gig or two…the ice has been broken.
Good luck with wardrobe choice and safe travels.

Happy to hear that you are rehearsing again…
we had a great gathering last night….great to hook up with the crew again

Technically your last visit to Galway was September 11 2019.University Gaillimh.
Myself ,mom ,dad and the ring leader under the name of H ,gatecrashed the event .We posed as university students.!
What a kettle of fish we were!!
At the door there was a woman shouting “only music students “!! We just put our heads down kept going .
RS as a real music student may have been the only legitimate audience attendee!!
Also you wore a purple t shirt that day.
See you tomorrow with the help of God
Do you have a maroon tshirt? …

Hello Christy,
Just thinking about your 2 atkins, and about playing different harps.
Your guitars are both the same model. When you play them are they different to each other?
When I bought my harp, I was so desperate that I bought it without seeing it. I was very lucky. I love its mellow, defined tone and the way its semitones feel so big. It’s Welsh, made by Teifi. Someone else had changed their mind, so I managed to get it.
I don’t know how another harp of the same model would be, but other models and makes feel and sound very different to each other. Like different breeds of dog.
Hello Rory,
Are you going to give us a list of what you’ve chosen for Saturday?
Rebecca

they have nothing in common apart from makers logo and model number….one stands in the workroom always ready for action..the other on the wall beside where I sit and watch far too much TV…..I watch far too much sport, always the tv muted , when I watch Leeds I play the Dalesmans Litany, Fulham, Sweet Thamse flow Softly, Celtic-Quinte Brigada…..sporting commentary has become utterly inane in recent decades….nothing riles more then punditry from the sideline as play continues….wonderful new doc on Netflix called “Count Me In” great insights from a host of top drummers….
its two years since the last Galway gig…I remember the pre gig rehearsal clearly…Declan and I hit the spot when we played “I Pity The Poor Immigrant” in the dressing room. Cathal and Jimmy sat there listening as Dylan’s song transported us to a place we had not been before (or since)….
returning to Salthill is an emotional prospect….first gig there was 49 years ago when Planxty played support to Donovon in the old Hanger Ballroom…a gig that still resounds in the memories of at least 3 people ( Andy,Donal and I)…Liam remembered it too !! Our billet was in Flannery’s Hotel . they ran a special deal for visiting Bands (32/6 for Bed and Lunch) Joe Burke joined us back at Flannerys for a few scoops. The night porter Billy was a huge Joe Burke fan which gained us great kudos for Billy had never heard of our Band…. Very late on, Billy asked Joe to play Cushy Butterfield over the Hotel Tannoy ( he obliged and startled many sleepers)….later still, after dawn, the breakfast chef arrived into his kitchen to find Joe and Myself tucking into rashers and eggs….we never stayed in Flannerys again…we were red carded
I run my hands along your forearm,

i think they look like daddy longlegs playing in the breeze.
