Hey Christy, I hope all’s well my friend. I’m loving the Magic Nights album, such a treat. I feel it captures the essence of the live gigs and while the studio work of course is important and wonderful, I’ve been to many gigs lately and this album helps us hold on to the “Magic”, to take it home with us. Standouts for me are “Rosalita and Jack Campbell”, I first heard you sing this in Waterford earlier this year, awesome and right next to that is “Duffy’s Cut”, I heard the story when it broke some years ago and it struck a cord ‘cause we all came here somehow, but many under duress, a stark contrast to the Donnelly and Morrison visa goers of the 80’s and 90’s and the Malvern Valley is only a couple of hours drive from New York, such close proximity. And “Missing You”, I used to sing this when I came to the US first, I’d change Piccadilly’s Neon to Broadway’s Neon and Charing Cross Bridge to Brooklyn Bridge, get meself nice and homesick. Anyway, best regards in this festive time and I’ll dust off the passport for the springtime hopefully…. Will we need visas now to get to Glasgow ? Be well Christy, thanks….

Christmas-time has always been my favourite time of year , a time to reflect on the year before us (in this years case the decade before us) , eat everything and everything I can and I always get artistically motivated for some reason.
Could it be from the smell of the Christmas tree or the pine leaves of green or because when its all over those little spikes will surely go up into somebody’s feet.
Everything is well here , thank god.
I will bring up the donkeys for the festivities as always…I think they like Christmas time…because of the leftovers but I like to think they are aware of the magic of it all.
Had a listen to the Christy Moore podcast and as someone who likes a good podcast , I really enjoyed this one…I would love to see..well…hear more like this in the future

Hello Christy.
Vishva and I send you our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Let us hope 2020 is better that 2019 but in England the signs are not hopeful. Our highlight in a dark year was travelling over to see you play at Bundoran. A fantastic gig during which you played Black is the Colour for Vishva’s 65th Birthday. You even changed to words to the last line. We will always remember that. Thank you once again. We look forward to seeing you okay in 2020. Don’t know where yet but somewhere along the road.
Take care
Tom and Vishva Murtha.
I’m sure this is A big ask. My little boy of 9 loves your music as I did at he’s age as your voice was always on the radio. But if you could send him an hello as he recently was asked to bring he’s guitar to school as he did a brill rendition of Lisdoonvarna and some more of your great songs .
He can’t wait to see you on stage next year and was even learning the words of your latest cd /vinyl.
Good evening Christy,
As it is that time of year again for gifts etc i reckon that i have found the perfect musical gift for anyone of the 4711ers who has already bagged ‘Magic Nights’.
There is a marvellous new album out from North of Ireland singer-songwriter Matt McGinn called ‘Lessons of War’.
In particular ‘lyra’ , also the title track, as well as the single that is on spotify ‘bubblegum’.
I hope it finds it’s way into your christmas stocking, along with a mixture of tea bags , a leopardstown each way treble and a satsuma.

Hi Christy ,thanks recent chat me Anthony. My son duos with singer Odette Mitchell and Rory is visiting Dublin in January where he is accompanying a band called Broshane who are laying down think EP in a studio they have hired, just a short visit in Dublin. If you go YouTube you can see Odette who joined her just before Univ, he is 24 January 23 and is a professional support for Odette in her 30s with fiddle and mandolin but Rory plays piano and has a go at most instruments. Are you playing Dublin n January, if so Rory and Broshane could perhaps see a concert? Best Wishes and family and great 2020. Anthony

‘neath our Achill’s Skies
Down in the West ,we’ve an Isle that’s the best
Oh the people of Achill are sound
Our music is good, we’ve georgeous seafood
And our Atlantic Drive is renowned.
Our fishermen’s skin is brown from the wind
And the sun that reflects off the sea
But it’s not the same brown as in the Middle East
Or on a north African refugee
So, we’ve vigils all night
We march left and right
We’re quiet we don’t make much noise
But if you’re from a war zone
Or you don’t have a home
Your not welcome ‘neath our Achill skies
We welcome the stranger, no matter from where,
We sell them our houses and land
We’ve Germans and Dutch , Yanks and some Scots
We even have one from Japan.
Those women and men
They fit just right in
They’re part of our economy
So how could we live, on the pittance they give
To sustain all these poor refugees
So, we have vigils all night
We march left and right
We’re quiet we don’t make much noise
But if you’re from a war zone
Or you don’t have a home
Your not welcome neath our Achill skies
Out in the ocean not far from Pollach
You can find the fierce basking shark
As big as a bus with a mouth like a house
You’d not want to meet him after dark
But he’s far from that, He’s a big pussy cat
His bark is far worse than his bite
If you’re judgement is based, on his size or his face
You’re surely not doing that right
So, no more vigils all night
No more marching, no fights

Let’s make you at home
And welcome ‘neath our Achill Skies

Our daughter Jessica is back from Sydney for a very special occasion. At 2pm on December 20th she will marry her childhood sweetheart David Halsell in the town of Killorglin . Three days before their wedding, on December 17th they will be in Vicar Street to see their favourite singer ! This will be a special night for them and it would really make it even more very special if you could surprise them with a mention during your performance ! We know this would mean an awful lot to Jessica and David and we would be very grateful if you could do this for us !

Dear Christy, thanks a million for dedicating Fairytale of N.Y. to me – made the magic night perfect for me 👍. For sure I know that song! It’s rather popular in Germany as well and I try to sing it myself sometimes. Its lyrics are a good way to learn some words we hadn’t been taught in our English lessons back in school 😉.
I really enjoyed every single song tonight and could have listened for a few more hours, but unfortunately the time had come to part, and I must go away – back to Germany today 😪.
Still hope to see you for a magic night there some day!
Thanks again, a Happy Christmas to you and the whole gang, cheers Birgit
