What a beautiful sound last night in Auld Reekie, respect to the sound men/women yet again….and the band.
Everyone was in raptures over your instrumental ‘the Edinburgh set’ , I hope it appears more often than just in Scotland’s capital, Cathal’s playing was mesmerising. thanks Christy, see you in Glasgow’s dreamland.
regards Rory
Christy's reply
I reckon last nights Edinburgh Set may very well be here to stay….
Winner All Right !
Up KIldare !
Follow Me Up To Carlow !
Fair Play Christy, Declan, Jimmy and Cattal. Brilliant gig tonight, particularly the banjo jamming. Highly emotional for me when you played Bright Blue Rose. We played this song at my son’s funeral in May this year, the lyrics are so apt. Kenny Broadfoot found life too difficult and committed suicide at the age of 29. He would have normally been with me in the Barrowlands on Saturday night but I’m sure he will be there with the other spirits. I’ll be there for both of us sharing your great experience and recalling the happy times spent with him in the Barrowland ballroom listening to your songs. Upstairs hopefully to heaven we will go.
Christy's reply
Very sorry to read about your loss…Thank you for sharing….I hope that Saturday Night will go well for you….the memory of your Kenny will touch us all …………
Hi Christy all the best with the ongoing tour, listening to you singing Kevin Barry reminded me that boy George is related to him, was on tv not long ago talking about long lost families,11 years since we lost the great centre Ray gravell, shine on Christy.
Christy's reply
That Great Crash Tackler….that warm-hearted gentle soul
Just been to tonight’s great gig. Haven’t seen you since we worked together on Finn McCool. A while ago now! Your voice is still amazing. So pleased to see how much you are appreciated. All best for the rest of the tour.
Jeni
Christy's reply
Hey Jeni,
what a time we had with Sean McCarthy’s “Fantastical Feats of Finn McCool”…. memories abound from those 6 weeks back in 1974….Hamish out of his tree, Kenny up the walls, Tony Rohr, Dolly McLennan, Billy Patterson, Dermot Crowley, Patrick Malahide,Anne Crowley, Johnny Betts,Tony Haygarth, our wonderful trip to Tír na nÓg, that dangerous Fawn chase,…..I loved that time…I loved hearing from you again
some of our stars may have fallen …but on we go…. heel to the toe..
Just home from braw gig tonight. Thanks to you and the guys for giving such a great performance. About to climb into bed with the sweet music still ringing in my ears. Until the next time xx
Christy's reply
Ye were a mighty crowd last night….a pure force of nature…ye coaxed the sweet notes last night…
the apres gig Mulligitawney never tasted so good….
we drove back to Glasgow ( our base camp) still purring from your welcome
Hi Christy,
Me and Vicky have seen you in Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Birmingham and Dublin … and are going to add Barrowlands in Glasgow on Saturday which is Vicky’s birthday – we are really looking forward to it and would both be dead chuffed if you would wish Vicky a Happy Birthday, and sing her a song… anything you like as we love all of your songs. See you Saturday night in the Ballroom of Remembrance!
Cheers
Rob
Christy's reply
Rob mo Cara….we hope to play about 28 songs to 2,000 listeners, each and every one equally deserving of a call out….on the laws of average there will be 7 birthday celebrants present….its a dilemna, who to leave in, who to leave out….
There will come a moment, you will know it when it comes, when you must but your arms around Vicky, whisper in her ear..
“O my darling ! Happy Birthday ! He is singing this song specially for you”
The air tickets are at hand (better than driving the whole distance with a Honda 50), umbrellas are packed – Barrowland, we are coming! This will be the tenth gig seeing Christy… yes yes allright…others have much more to offer… but… anyway: hooray! Looking forward to seeing you all there and with lots of love from Germany…XXX
Christy's reply
We hope (and intend) to be well prepared to greet you…no effort will be spared…our wardrobe department working flat out to press all garments, replace lost buttons, tighten flaps and remove unsightly stains….the hairdresser is due at any moment to tidy hairlines and inspect each earhole and nostril ( not the most pleasant task ) strings are being changed, machineheads tweeked,
……So come along Pallo, come join us where the shooting stars light up the fresco, come waltz beneath the carousel of healing, let us boogie the night away, lets reel and jig around the Church of Céilí…..
Christy, the dedication to Frank and Agnes was well received. I’m now some sort of miracle worker who won’t give up his secrets of “how did you manage that?” continuously raining (literally) down on me during the train journey home last night. Your music brings them so much joy, what a talent.
It’s one large “cup a tay” that I owe you. Onward to Saturday…….there’s an easy place down gallowgate to the east end of Glasgow…..
Christy's reply
we gotta make hay while the sun shines…
Edinburgh tonight and then its in to the Oxygen Tent for 48 hours before climbing the stair up to that Hall of Fame….its really somethin to play in that place, when I see the list of all those who have played before…their melodies and songs, their riffs and beats reverberating on and on until the end of time…
About to travel through to Edinburgh to see the show. Really hope Lisdoonvarna makes it into the set, would make it really special for myself and the missus!
All the best, and really looking forward to tonight!
Christy's reply
its one of the (almost) regular numbers in the set..occasionally it might slip through the net but your post has been noted, the net has been tightened…we are looking forward to it ourselves…always been a song City as far back as I can remember….1967 was the first visit….always get a buzz when the van turns into the ancient City
Please tell me the names of your brilliant accompanists last night . I missed their names?

Finally got to see Christy at the RCH Glasgow, after years of trying, it was brilliant. Only problem I wear 2 hearing aids and was seated quite a way back so missed a lot of the conversation, don’t think the “loop system” worked at all. But all in all 2 hours of brilliant music. Thank you as it was also our 47th anniversary treat☘️
Awrite christy,we had an absolute ball last night!i thought it might have been to late,as it was only a couple of hours,to a fantastic night!her dad had named her after the island, but when we all say her name, the y is dropped!thank you,and the boys, for another fantastic night!
Hi Christy
Would you give a big shout out to my wife Suzy Kilroy for this amazing gift of a few days in Edinburgh and tickets to see you for my 50th
Fabulous wife.
Hi Christy, all set for Edinburgh tonight and off to the Barras on Saturday. Taking our two teenage daughters to their Christy initiation tonight they can’t wait. The tribe needs to keep growing. Any chance of Black is the Colour their favourite- Aoife and Orlaith, this will live in their memories long after we are all long gone. Hope you have a great time in Auld Reekie.
Dia dhuit, a Christy! Very disappointed to miss the annual outing in the Concert Hall aréir and even more so to miss The Galtee Mountain Boy. A favorite of mine, passed on by my Mother – a proud Bansha woman who tells me her uncle was close to you (Col. M.H. from Athlone).
Hope you get a good rest tomorrow before the rigours of Saturday. I hear The Boy from Tamlaghduff has been aired again recently. Would be great to hear it in Mag’s place, if you haven’t got too much to try and fit in.

Fantastic gig last night Christy, never fail to amaze. The Galtee Mountain Boy being a favourite, great to hear.
Heading to the Barrowland on Saturday and would love to hear you sing Kevin Barry, a song sung by my Mother and late Grandmother before her at many a party over the years. It holds a special place in my heart.
See you then
Morning Christy. Just want to say a huge thanks to you and the lads for the fantastic show last night and for playing McIllhatton. Was the new song called Stiil the Bell Rings? Loved it. Can’t make the Barras on Saturday but I’m sure it will be wild as usual. Until the next time Ride On mo chara.
