Fantastic idea , fair play to whoever made the initial suggestion. The 50@50 has certainly got the guestbook hopping……….. we haven’t gone away you know !! Have to be a pre- scripted set I guess which would be a change in itself. The concept is very exciting …..
50@50 sounds mental – it would be kind of cool if it could be broadcast/streamed live – act imagine everyone who wanted to get there would fit in the one space. There will have to be live album at the very least.

nice one Nicola..I fancy a bit of mental streaming
Ooh a 50 song gig from the last 50 years sounds great… 10 from each decade? Another idea could be to do a raconteur type show of about 2-3 hours of telling the audience some of your most memorable experiences from the last 50 years each accompanied by a song or two, what it was that moved you to record or write a particular song in the context of what was going on around you or trying new collaborations like planxty, moving hearts, jimmy faulkner, declan, mairtin’s band etc. and how the work was developed and explored over the years … either sounds great and looking forward to hearing other ideas 🙂

this broadens the scope Liv….might need a few duck-eggs to keep me going
As this is my 50th year of being alive and my 32nd year as a CM fan it would be most fitting and appropriate for me to attend 50@50. Clear the diaries, hang the washing out, give the dog a bone and batten your hatches. We would gladly and with great gratitude attend your special event. I’ll bring the cake. You bring the Fast Fret. Xx
Heya CM,
50@50. Love it!
Need to film it as well for the long haulers who might not be able to make it! Will you be serving tea and bikkies halfway through?
Ott
Be jaysus Christy just name the date and time and we’ll be sure to be there! 50 on the 50th anniversary would be a moment in time that we’d make sure the children’s children heard about! Love the idea and would love it even more if I had a ticket! I love where your heads at.

Hope all is well
Well Christy sounds like a great idea. Would it be a once off? Do you think You’d ever gig in the point again? Very different venue these days. I’d say the tickets would sell like golddust. Shane Macgowans 60th was in the national concert hall recently and it could of been in slane castle there was that much demand. I’d love to hear tim Evans or on the blanket live. The moors had a good run in fairness to them.
Hi All,, Paul Simon sang about 40 Ways to Leave your Lover,,,, a gig of 50 songs would be something far more special….its a wonderful idea….. the setlist could reach to nearly 100 !!! Set the date…. and plan from there ?? Beir bua agus beannacht,,,, H
Good afternoon Christy,
A Gig of 50 Songs – what a tempting idea!!!
Always when we were at your gigs I had wished it would never end … So a kind of a “Double Gig” would be an absolutely incredible enjoyment!
Very good to read some beautiful “old” songs are emerging again!
Sunny winter’s day greetings, Traudel
Hi Christy, I really loved the gig in Mullingar on Friday. Standouts for me we’re Billy Grey, a real blast from the past and Lawless, one of my all time favorites but I never heard it live so thanks for all of it. Be well.
Brian.
Christy's reply
thats good to hear Brian…thanks for sharing…Fri went off well altho we, (The Band) felt that we never really “got going”…both Declan and I realise that we are not always the best judges!..
Saturday was very different…
Like you I also think Lawless is a fine song, cant understand why it does not get played more often..but once the gig starts, I am almost powerless over what gets played…in recent nights Flickering, Stardust, Lawless,Tyrone Boys all re-emerged, Natives and Hazelwood are on the verge again and Metro Ave is beckoning as is Magic Nights
I got an interesting suggestion recently . next year being the 50th Anniversary of my first album it was suggested that I play a gig of 50 songs…I like the idea myself…Declan and I have often spoke about it…it would last between 4-5 hours..I’m interested to hear what regular listeners might think
“In the sweet County Limerick one cold winters night
with the turf fire a burning I first saw the light
and the dirty auld mid-wife went tipsy with joy
as she danced round the floor with her slip of a boy
singin Bainne an Bó is an Gaibhne
its the Juice of the Barley for me “
50@50 – fabulous idea. Am well up for it!!!!
