First time poster on here… Flying across from Scotland with among others one of your frequent posters Rory to see you in concert on Friday evening. Really looking forward to seeing you again. I suppose some would argue it’s a bit early in the year for Fairytale Of New York but if you could play it you’d make an old man happy!!!
Actually tweeted this to you earlier Christy but I’m not sure if you’re a tweeter

Christmas comes earlier every year Cammy. Have a good trip to my home County. The local delicacy, sheeps eyes with mashed mangolds, is best washed down with chopped straws in buttermilk. It’s not for the queasy, some side affects can be startling..(if you are on a diet you could try the jockeys breakfast, a ride and a rasher, always very popular amongst the Kildare racing community). Its not well known but Robbie Burns spent time in Kildare…he is well remembered in Boolea, Clogherinkoe and Tankardsgarden, for reasons best left alone for the moment.
The January man, hope he has survived the cold spell we have had,was in Manchester last weekend and saw a man outside the Manchester Arena who had sadness in his eyes,we all had a good night inside oblivious to what was happening outside,we all went home on the trains buses taxis, and he was left on the cold concrete floor,Sad times Christy .

Hi Christy, Great gig in Vicar St on the 29th to support Brother Kevin and the Cappuchin Centre, amazing work they do there for the most vulnerable human beings in society. Really enjoy your music Christy comes from the heart. My location is Dublin but im a Deise boy by heart. Keep her lit Christy.

It was a great night for Bro Kevin…I think we all felt his presence in the room….He sat and chatted with with us for a while after the gig before returning to Bow Street…
Thanks to everyone who made that night so special
My Dearest Christy, finally, I have managed to get back to your guestbook… just spent a few hours watching your documentary with Shane McGowan, what an amazing artist.. and you too Christy.. How honoured I am to have seen you both, to have enjoyed your wonderful music.. In the town I love so well… there was music there, in the Derry air…
Hey Christy,
Thank you so much for the concert on monday-and for singing the song for my dad, as well as the plectrum. You might have seen in the face of my dad how happy you made him. He said, it was the best thing ever – a massive thanks – and could only be topped by a coffee with you-sure you never know.
You have to know, he is a singer himself and sings your songs back in Germany. I grew up with your music and this was what made me want to learn and study the language.
My dad comes from a little village called Worpswede, the place where Luca is always playing and we are going to his concerts for over 10 years now. Ask him-he will remember.
So thanks again for making my dad speechless.

Thats what these old songs do for many of us..it was indeed a pleasure to observe the joy upon your Father’s face in Vicar Street last Monday night…all my life I have winessed the community of singers and songs,of musician’s and their music, of good listeners and the atmosphere they create by their listening ….
I’m off coffee, cant do moderation, I was overdosing on espresso, cappuccino, flat white, extra shots, latte,
at different stages of my life I have become expert on Ale, Stout, Whisky, Gin and Rottgutt,
then I segued into Wines of the World,
before becoming an expert on coffee growing regions, best roasting practice and blending, (my last favourite brew was grown organically by women)…
these days I limit my consumption to tea and still water…which just about lubricates throat and palate ..occasionally I experience compulsion, a waft of coffee, whiskey on a man’s breath, Sweet Afton and turf smoke, a rasher upon the pan,
but the obsession has lifted, the compulsions are resistable
Happy St Brigid’s Day to all songsters, may we all find warmth beneath her cloak ..Spring is upon us, The January Man has taken another turn along the road forever..
Hi Christy Michael here from Slieve Donard a big thankyou for dvd was so happy when received it,said to my big mate back in Glasgow and he said I would get a piece at any door, see you in September don’t forget your shovel, thanks again

I hope you don’t mind me asking..I saw a photo of you with a yellow thread and a massive sewing needle and what I presume to be a loom.

I played a Concert at MacCauley Place, Naas, Co. Kildare last Saturday evening. Val and I had a lovely visit, were welcomed by residents, volunteers and staff.I played for an hour and then made the first stitch in an embroidery that will be be developed by the art class.
I think my experience was similar to LAR F, I just caught the tail end of the event and was delighted that the Q was gone. And you were right of course Landsdown was 1997, tickets distributed through a small network, I got mine in a pub called The Scratcher, downtown Manhattan. Folks sill talk about The Landsdown, Magic Nights !
Wally & Johnny did a 13 song set yesterday evening from about 5.45pm…accompanied by Tom Kearns on BV, Fiona Delaney on Drums, Lar Rogan on Bass and Mick on piano and accordian…it was the closing night of a mini festival out there, and Paddy Casey closed the night, but we couldn’t stay…past our bedtimes..it’s a great venue, two floors. There was a young 20 piece Ukulele band playing upstairs, a two-piece in the far room, a hair-piece on the promenade, and very good food…a nice experience. Wal is very close now to the finishing stages of the makings of a new CD..then , who knows….the world’s his lobster..he plays the Annesley House on The North Strand on Fri Feb 9th . Best to you and crew for tonight, I will be at the TCB band in the NCH …maybe i’ll do a night locally for something similar..have a great night.
I remember a CD/LP signing tat Conn in NY might be thinking of but I cant remember the album.it was either Smoke or King Puck. But I think he’s right about Golden Discs ,on Grafton Street, and who was there only the bauld Larry Gogan in the 2FM Roadcaster as emcee etc…I have another memory of that day…
The Easons signing was for One Voice…a great day, as KK, Mick O Brien, Cathal Holland and meself saw the Q…went for tea and sambos, came back and joined the nearly last of the book buyers and you had signed more than any other book signing…the other 2 biggest signings that Easons had to that time were Gaybo & B Clinton I remember being told that day by the manager of the day…and I just remember now as I write a book signing in Dubrays on Grafton Street also…the Q was also down the street for that..I’ve only ever Q’d for one other signing…Michael Palin…so now …hope all is good..L
Christy's reply
perhaps it was the launch of the first songbook in Easons back circa 1983….no one attended unlike the launch of One Voice which was wild and wonderful
how did Wally and Johnny get on in Bray ? hope it went well…could not make it as I had to serve at benediction in the pro cathedral…I was on the thurible..still addicted to the smell of burning incense..is it heaven or is it hell, is it purgatory or is it limbo…have to ask the bishop that one
Here you go Christy…my 1st and probably only song.
Jaysus, you can’t beat a good session with the lads and lassies!
Chatting and laughing having the best of times, the more I drink I think I can bust some rhymes!
Catching up on life, how’s the wife? Taking the mick, out of johns new shirt and the size of his…yeoww.
Chorus
10 pints of beer, next up the fear
8 pints of Guinness, I think I’m Martin McGuinness!
5 shots of tequila I start doing cartwheelas (Mexican accent)
Half a bottle of whiskey I start getting frisky
If I’m on the Brandy, I feel a bit…..drunk! (Why on earth would I be drinking that)
Jaysus you can’t beat the session with the lads and lassies.
As the night goes on the lips are getting loose, I’m sure something mentioned they’d touched a moose.
Look it lads it could be worse didn’t joey shift a horse. (Beer goggles)
Grand plans and promises are made in depth but as he know most are unkept.
Chorus.
Reaffirming great friendships and creating new ones, the barriers are down and there’s no need to frown
Men and women looking for the one, that special person to settle down with, or at least someone who will make them …..
Chorus
We’re here for a good time not a long time so enjoy the craic, and have one another’s back.
At the end of the night we’ll have a sing song to remember rare old times and to loved ones long gone.
Hi Christy,
Heading home to the model county to see you next Friday with my new wife who’s from south Carolina, it’s gig 40 plus for me and one of our first dates was when I brought her to see you at vicar street in 2013…I have a request if possible…years ago you did a gig in the Talbot hotel and frank sinnott called out for John o dreams…I’d love to hear it again…in Frank’s memory…see you Friday night in gorey christy…can’t wait as always..

your a divvil for punishment
lookin forward to Gorey myself
solo gigs always challenging, different, scary, inspiring ( for me ) and fulfilling
Gorey always brings back the image of Paul Funge
he created the first Arts Centre in Ireland circa 45 years ago
Planxty played there in clogs and flares and swathes of hairs
Paul was apoplectic with fun and warmth and Art
and ( quite)a few gargles after
Hey Christy, hope all’s well. I’m so amused by an earlier question about meeting up after the gig, the Oxygen tent and line of celebs !, everyone now wants a piece of Christy Moore…. I’m a long time listener and sometimes friends ask did you ever meet him ? so here’s one recollection, I was working for Dublin County Council in Goatstown, early 90’s and I heard on the radio you were signing autographs in a record shop in town probably Golden Discs, I’m not sure, so I jumped on my bike a Honda H100 at the time and there you were, standing like a spare groom at a wedding, no crowd no waiting … I bought a tape of Smoke and Strong Whiskey (‘cause I already had the record but I thought it’d be bad if I asked you to sign a piece of paper) and went over, you signed it and I said thanks and left you all alone. Sorry about that. I moved to NY in ’93 and the next time we crossed paths was in The Bronx in ’94, the Landsdown, I think that was the last time you crossed the Atlantic ? Anyway my Mam will be 85 very soon so I’ll plan a trip and hopefully cross paths once again. I still have the tape by the way, warmest regards. Brian.
Christy's reply
I think it was Easons
I was real nervous at the prospect of that signing
needlessly as it emerged
not a sinner showed up apart from your self
eventually the security person moved me on
I think The Lansdowne Hotel in The Bronx was a bit later (’97?)
God but I loved those gigs
thronged with lonesome listeners
never had a gig so tightly packed
if only Scottie could beam me up
I’d be back there in a flash
always good to hear from you
lets have a chat next time you’re kickin about
Happy Birthday to Mam
Hi Christy my good friend Eve OBrien is heading to your Gig on Monday 29th in Vicar Street Block D Row A .She was born and raised near Santiago Chile now residing in Clondalkin, now that’s some transition .If you played Victor Jara it would make her year, if not no worries….Thanks Tommy

Ah, you can’t fool me with the not liking the Salish bear art. We all know of the old Celtic monks were still loyal to the ornate animal drawings of old. But it is a music focus now.
