Wonderful performance on the LLS , Christy ….. it seemed like the two of you could have sat there all night batting the breeze, and singing the Songs.Congrats also to those that designed the backdrop with THE picture. Adam must have been very proud……..and of course the Kerry Rose.

gotta hand it to the LLS crew..they went to a lot of trouble and effort to create that backdrop….
Hi Christy…. that was some major slot on the LLS last night,,, you came across so well… so at ease,, there was such love and respect in the room, you said it all when you said ” I feel its good to sing for people who don’t have a voice…. I am attrached to songs that cause a bit of a stir ,,, that cause people to reflect… ” and what an honour for Adam to see his photo as a backdrop. Beir bua agus beannacht,. H

great to have a front row of 4711ers…a happy familiar presence

over the 24 tracks there were 6 different line-ups across 3 years…Vicar at gigs will hopefully feature Myself, Declan, Cathal and Jimmy
Thanks Marty! Couldn’t see the woods for the trees! Would lo know which songs were recorded in Belfast (and on which dates) so I can listen out for myself singing in the background,,,

Brendan, we were all there at each and every gig, all gaggled together as melodies and refrains bounced and reverberated around the sweating walls of a thousand halls
looking forward to the Late Late, the turf fire is lit in the sitting room, doors will be locked @ 9 and the lights off in case of visitors ( or Rakers as the old folks used to call the neighbours who would call at night and sit til the early hours raking through the ashes to keep the heat coming from the fire for as long as possible).
On the Road hasn;t landed yet but really enjoyed reading the sleeve notes on the Homepage of the site here.
( Brendan, if you go to the Homepage and keep scrolling on down slowly you will come to the notes)

Just got the new album and looking forward to tonight’s Late Late Show. Just a quick question. I read that there are “further sleevenotes” on the website but no matter where I look I can’t find them. Can you point me in the right direction?
Absolutely love the new album Christy, listening to it right now. Good luck on the late late, sadly I wont be able to catch it over here in Caledonia.
Did ya ever think about recording Spancilhill for an album? There’s been many good versions of it but yours is iconic. It’d be a shame to have no record of it in the future.
Christy's reply
Thanks Barbara…sorry you missed the gig..it went very well,
I recorded Spancilhill back in 1971 on the “Prosperous” album…
I have it on a lsit of songs `I would like to re-record some day if time allows
We are “On The Road” tonight in our house as our copy has just been dropped through the letterbox! Looking forward to listening and also to watching the Late show tonight, behave yerself and give a kind mention to your friends in Sasana!!

Sound Iggy,
trimming the nostrils and earholes here, picking a T shirt is not easy…dont have a suit or collar
fingers crossed… hoping there will be no low balls into the square
Dear Christy,
If all goes well, we will be at 4 of your gigs in the north-west next April …
While waiting, we go to as many good concerts in Hamburg as possible – sadly, we missed live music for some months. Last week we saw the Waterboys – passion and precision as always but now with a new 9 persons line-up and again a different music style. It’s been a long way from Fisherman’s Blues to the current rock/pop and funk album but well worth a listen. And The Fellow Who Fiddles, Steve Wickham, is as great as ever …
Another high energy and precision gig with Altan yesterday … Just like the Waterboys and still so different, with traditional jigs and reels instead of rock and funk. I can’t get enough of these abrupt changes of tunes and tempo and the sudden stops and starts in perfect synchronism. That’s what makes Irish music so unique and fascinating, in turns with quiet songs. Dáithí Sproule sang a lovely version of ‚You Rambling Boys of Pleasure‘ and Mairéad did a Nashville-inspired variation of the Raggle Taggle Gypsy. Reminded me of splendid Planxty days … The venue last night was tiny, an audience of maybe 100 persons, a perfect intimate gig with the 4 musicians on stage. A great Irish night in Hamburg. Even the weather was like in Donegal, Mairéad said smiling …
Hope for more good gigs to come here until we see you in Donegal in 5 months !! Keep well and lots of love from Hamburg.
Christy's reply
great to hear reports of Gigs ….I like Steve Wickham’s playing..always a pleasure to hear his notes wafting down from Sligo,…Altan carry our music around the world with passion, sensitivity and fun..long may they reverberate…
back here in Ireland I have heard gigs from Ralph McTell,Chris Wood,Karine Polworth..looking forward to hearing Lankum, Ye Vagabonds and Daoiri Farrell next week at a concert for Flood Relief
releasing an album here today with an appearance on Irish TV tonight (Late Late Show)..gonna sing a bunch of songs and talk to the host Ryan Tubridy
Christy, I’ve just finished reading your sleeve notes along with comments about your road crew and each musician and contributor, and I think that these words I could probably read again in the morning and they’d still be brand new, and the same for 10 years time. The booklet from The Box set me bollix is the same…and what a great selection of songs, they never get old do they ? all fantastic, and I was thinking when reading the notes of listening in my room in the 80’s to the Orindary Man vinyl and St Brendans Voyage along with all the great songs on that LP that got me really hooked…one of my favourite albums now so many years later.
I am so looking forward to playing this CD and putting the songs to your notes..Many Congratulations to you, to all your crew, front of house, back of house, and all involved, this is a beautiful collection…thank you for presenting it to us..lots of love..L
