Hi Christy,
thank you for a wonderful show in Castleblayney. It was my second trip to Ireland and I took a quick peek at Donegal town, Letterkenny and Ramelton before the Blayney concert and Paul Brady show on Sunday in Dublin. Every night I have met wonderful people especially on Friday Hilary, Els, Piet and Adam. Your music and persona is an inspiration to me. After my first visit I was able to learn some new songs and will do so again this time. I will be going to south-east Finland next weekend and promised to play some of the songs and stories I have picked up so far. I’m listening to the new live collection alongside John Spillane´s new album and I’m inspired to write myself again after a long time. So thank you again and see you in January!
Christy's reply
We went to hear John Spillane last Saturday night in Dublin….just been listening to his new album and I’m also reading his book..

Basil left these parts some years ago Christy……..He was indeed blessed with wonderful hands on the Steel Guitar. Played with a number of local Bands , including Ray & TR.

Hi Christy
Again we are looking back on a great weekend, too few days on the island. On our way to Castleblayney, we visited the very special place Newgrange, before we enjoyed your concert so much, I can’t remember we saw you solo before (or the very first time in Dranouter ?). We met some great people, the nice American family, and a new Finnish fan. It’s fantastic to see that new generations discover your music. The rest of the weekend, we met up with fantastic friends in Belfast who guided us around. That warm welcoming atmosphere in Ireland, is so special. we’ll come back soon.
see you !

I was enquiring in Castleblayney about Basil Hendricks…I met him back in 1979 when I recorded some songs in Blayney with Jimmy Faulkner…Basil laid down some beautiful pedal steel on “House in Carne”……someone said he was gigging around the Moate area now
Evening Christy,
Just wanted to send you a mighty thanks for the warm welcome that you gave our family in Castleblayney- I will remember the Voyage for the four of us for a long time to come. It is always pure magic to hear you bring these songs to life… My 9 year old son Teague commented that he likes how you talk about songwriters sharing their songs with you, that it feels kind and generous to mention their origin. I am grateful that they have been able to experience the gigs….you model a generosity of spirit and dedication to your art that inspires each of us. Be well until next time. xx Kat

kinda rugbied out here this mon morning…I love the game itself BUT all this ridiculous smoke and rockets beforehand, all this loud cacophony of horrible music every time the ball goes out of play, the endless in and out to bars and toilets, glazed faces looking at iPhones while the game acts out in HD splendour before their very eyes…..
the very spectacle itself is being dulled to distraction by the activities of those who have absolutely no interest in the game itself……for them, its only about the merch..
rant over….
I’ve spent the day listening to the new cd in its entirety, a few times…it is so good..it’s all been said here, and I can only agree with all. Eyes closed, I’m there st any of the 17 venues…Many congratulations on the Number 1 spot..a buzz indeed..
Thanks for the feedback. L x

That John Spillane gig you ran last Saturday in Booterstown was just about perfect….
Hello Christy,
Just wanted to say how much I love the new album. It’s a fantastic collection of songs. I meant to save it for a Christmas present for myself, but forgot last Saturday night and listened to it over dinner, and then through headphones during the week. We’ve been really busy here setting up our new holiday accommodation business, and so haven’t been able to travel to see you for a little while. So hearing all those lovely live songs in my living room was a real treat. We’re bringing life a bit more under control now, so we’re very much hoping to make a gig sometime next year.
Very best wishes.
Sue

late November Monday morning…..an icy frosty windy winters day…. the Sun is doing its very best to be seen………
Hi Christy,
That sounds fabulous! Wish I was there …
We haven’t seen John Spillane playing for ages.
Seems Lar is doing an excellent job.
Best wishes, Traudel
Thanks for your winter greetings, dear Christy!
Just wonderful to hear ON THE ROAD is most successful already in its first week – Congrats to all the people involved!
For me I can say the long wait was really rewarding …
Oh no, it wasn’t my intention to blame the Irish post for the album’s odyssey. I think it was more a kind of international affair. Thanks to An Post service I could trace the parcel’s long journey. Very interesting! It took 4 days (incl. weekend) to reach Heathrow, there it lingered for 2 days and then the German “snail mail” needed another 2 days to deliver it to me. That’s the story.
But now I’m enjoying the precious thing enormously. The Live CDs are made perfectly, such a brilliant sound and the atmosphere of gigs is marvellously reflected. And I also love to read your Album Notes, great background information about the songs and beautiful acknowledgement to your Musical Companions and Crew.
Take care in these cold days and keep warm!
Traudel

We went to hear John Spillane play last night at The Punchbowl in Booterstown….it was a beautiful gig from start to finish….Peter Byrne sang a support set before John charmed us out of the Cherry Blossom Tree….Lar Flynn has created a lovely gig there
Good afternoon Christy,
Eventually Mr Postman has turned up and there was no chocolate in his bag but the SWEETEST of Music!
I was wondering that is was such a long way from Dundrum to my place, now I see it was sent as priority parcel so it “only” needed 8 days. If it wasn’t sealed I’d guess different people who dealt with delivery listened to the album meanwhile. Anyway, I’m happy now to have “On The Road” including the fantastic booklet!
Yet I’ve only listened to a few tracks and they’re Magical!!!
Enjoy your Solo gig tonight!
All the best, Traudel

all I can say Traudel is that The Irish Postal system has been delivering on Time…perhaps the German system needs some overhauling as Irish efficiency ,in this particular department, seems to be leading the way….so far I can report morning-after delivery in Clare, Galway, Inis Oírr, Belfast, Kildare, Cork, The Kingdom of Kerry, Wexford, Newtownmountkennedy, Inch,Oughterard, Ballymagash, Oylgate, Magheramason, Gortahork, Falcarragh and Frijiliana….Well Done Our Postal Workers !
Greetings to you from white hills of Monaghan where myself and the crew are purring to the news that “On The Road” has hit the Numero Uno spot in this weeks charts
PS…. I have to admit..I get a buzz out of this…well done to all concerned
