Hi Christy
Hope the tea is going down well on a road weary throat…….sounds like a cracking night at The Barras.Home time soon…..
Just sorted tickets for Kells.Combined with a weekend with family in Dublin and Slane.First time at that hotel since weddings in the 80s and the first time I’ll see you in Ireland since a bun fight of a gig at The Slane House in the late 70s.You played a blinder that night ,competing with a boozed up pre Christmas crowd, apart from those of us determined to hang onto every note.
Thankfully, tmes have changed and there’ll be a fine welcome for you in Kells.I won’t bore on with requests,it’ll be a wonderful gig for many reasons.
Bon voyage and enjoy a wee rest
Dave

I’m still comin doon-the-stair after Barrowlands…I wont be ready for Royal Meath for another few days…but come the time I hope to climb up Tara’s hill and survey The Boyne Valley
Good to hear that ‘No Time for Love’ is still getting an airing C.
Franco’s fortieth anniversary is on 20 November next.
MJPJ (previous poster): that’s poignant to read that a line from ‘Ride On’ is on a son’s grave inscription, a song with with some great lines indeed.
Good Luck tonight Christy, really looking forward to the show. You were good enough to reply to a message I sent you a while ago after the passing of my eldest son. This will be my first time seeing you in 5 years but listening to your music brings a great deal of comfort. My son has a line from Ride On inscribed on his headstone as he was a massive fan too.I will be there with my other son tonight and I’m sure that Michael will be with us along with Wee Jinky Johnstone and Mags McIvor.
Thanks Big Fella,
Michael Riley

I was thinking of you and your Sons as we played the song….it was enchanting the way the audience sang every word, the way Declan soloed
Hi Christy. On way to the big show at the Barras tonight, third time travelling up from London to see you. Good crowd of us going so would love a song dedicated to us- reel in the flickering light any chance? Or Missing you.
Thanks, Tracey, Emily, Christine L, Christine M, Hannah and Andrew.
Christy's reply
thanks for being there…hope ye had a good night…we had a ball
I get the feeling that the concert hall is like your living room on a cold winter’s night! All cosy and warm, packed with a few friends all keen on gently humming a verse or two in accompaniment to your singing and playing.
Last night was a rare treat from the very first strains of How Long to the evry end — and what a beautifully soft and poignant rendition of No Time For Love?
My oldest son is called Declan after Mr Sinnott (the third son is called Christy) who continues to show what a lovely touch he has on the frets with that big left hand of his – and the song where you sang together was just superb.
Young Jimmy’s percussion was marvelous and you can see he is in the zone.
I woke up this morning smiling, singing and rarin to go at the day — at my own gentle pace.
Yet again I leave a Christy gig believing in the spirit, the singer songwriter, the protester, the neighbours, the lovers, the storyteller, and the emotions and sensations of a night well spent.
Ride On Christy Moore — each time you make me feel a better but ordinary man and that is a good thing!
PS. The wife wanted to name the other kids Bjorn and Benny but feck that for a game of soldiers!
Christy's reply
in fairness,Bjorn and Benny were’nt the worst….had manys the good knees up with them rockin the joint
Every now and then a check in to the website. Great readings of the song journey and the gigs. Always a treat to go to the tube for to see and listen to posted videoclips. You’re in flying form!
Thinking about the music I remember that you and Declan were working on a new approach with the song “Suffocate” somewhile back.
I am really interested in the proces of searching/finding new approaches to a song like that (but also other songs)
Can you elaborate a bit on that? What makes it for you that some songs can be rediscovered and/or have a new approach to it?
Meanwhile here in the lowlands low music keeps the spirits high! Together with my daughter we’ll go and see your brother soon.
And of course there’s always the lookout for your visit to one of the beautiful theatres around this country in the foreseeable future.
Shine on Christy!
John

Its the way we see things differently as time passes….its hearing different chords 20 years on….its finding new meaning, seeing new pictures,….its a voice calling out a long-forgotten song at a gig and breathing new life into an old ballad…its like turning a corner and meeting a long-lost (but dearly cherished) friend
“Home comes the rover”
Would just like to say I loved your show at the Royal Concert hall last night!! Me and my wife come along every year but this year was both superb and emotional at the same time!!! Well done and all the best for the Barras tonight!!
Amazing concert tonight, well worth travelling two hours by bus and train for.I first fell in love with Christy Moore in Manchester, early 1980’s, travelling all over NW England to see him play.I hadn’t seen him since 1986 until tonight, and he, Declan and Jim certainly didn’t disappoint.I’m still awake and re-playing every moment of it in my head.It was an unexpected surprise and a great privilege to find out that Paddy Hill was in the audience, bless you for all the work you do Paddy.Honestly, I’m almost delirious with joy tonight.Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Christy Moore and friends.

Thanks for all the good JuJu Amanda…it what keeps the old engine turning…I too find it hard to drop off after such heady nights….Paddy Hill is a wonder of the world
Great gig tonight. First time I’ve seen you here since I moved back home here from Cardiff. Noticeably quite different audience, but you kept us all in order. Fantastic night – and tell that also to Declan and John (?). They were excellent. It meant so much to hear you do “True Love Knows No Season”. I’ve not heard you do that since an Edinburgh gig about 35 years ago. I was immediately transported back that far, to when I had just bought “The Woman I Loved So Well” LP. So, so lovely to hear it again. Good luck for the Barras tomorrow ?
Christy's reply
Declan Sinnott and Jimmy Higgins were last nights Companeros. Well remembered with “True Love”..it appeared out of the blue last night….first outing in a couple of years..thanks for sharing
Great gig tonight! Love to catch up with your nephew Gavin Moore! Hope he is still making music. Can you tell me the name of the song in the last third of the set with yourself and Jimmy on bodhrans….
Christy's reply
it was “The Well Below The Valley” an ancient song I learned from John “Jacko” Reilly.
Superb gig Christy. Yourself, Deciie and Jimmy are tighter than a gnat’s chuff. The harmonies when the three of you are at it together are sublime. A fantastic blend of voices. The addition of Jimmy on the most subtle percussion known to man was a master stroke. He truly elevates you and Deccie to another place.
Thanks too for Folk Tale. I’m happier than a dog with two dicks tonight. Home now after Griffin made good time in his new chariot. He was delighted Beeswing got played too.
I couldn’t be more chuffed, thanks again for making this bald man, a very happy man indeed. I’m belting out Ride On on the oul guitar just now after you provided me with the encouragement during your superb rendition tonight.

I see you’re on the ‘mainland’ touring and Barrowland’s sold out I see and no doubt ‘Viva La Quinta Brigada’ will get a lively airing…… BTW, Franco’s dead 40 years this November.
Have been doing a lot of ‘Youtubeing’ this week or so and I located a live(!) Planxty show up online from Dublin’s Olympia from 1980, I may well have been at it. At a family gettogether some weeks ago ‘Good Ship Kangaroo’ got sung, I know the words but I’m not a singer as such – I helped someone else to sing the words. It’s that concert where you tell the audience about Mussolini’s garden and a song request for the ‘Good Ship Kangaroo’. You sang ‘No Time for Love’ accompanied by your three other old Planxty members – a slightly pedestrian version of it, I hdant heard you sing that accompanied by Planxty before..
Meanwhile I’ve been looking at live performances of a certain Dublin quartet playing Germany and US gigs, coincidentally I began following them around the summer of 1980, namely U2 and hopefully I’ll get to see them here in November.
Luka played a good gig apparently in Ballinasloe (Pillar House Folk club) and I didnt know it was ON until it was over and gone, or I’d have gone. That’s my comment, there’s one You Tube clip appearing from the gig – that’s my comment under it on You Tube.
Keep touring and singing……

“No Time For Love” had an outing in Glasgow last night…Jack Warshaw’s great song still resounds…good luck to the new gig in Ballinasloe…both Declan and Luka have been singing its praise….greetings to Shannon Banks from Clydeside
As ever, your recall is spot on,Christy.’The Apollo’ theatre is on Ardwick Green, not far from Piccadilly Station. The acoustics are spot on and there’s even carpet on the floor these days. That might add to the ambience but its not quite the same when the shoes aren’t stuck to the floor at kicking out time……
I share your addiction to ‘Theme Time Radio Hour’.True gems of eclectic music and drole humour. In a way its a shame that there’s no on stage banter at a Bob show but he lets the music do the talking. No way he’d ever top you for a quick line though……
Enjoy Glasgow , then home when work’s done.

Hi Christy
I hope your pre Barras training is going well.
Within a week, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing you at Buxton Opera House and Bob Dylan at The Apollo Theatre,Manchester. Two master craftsmen, with empathetic companeros, comfortable at work in ‘proper’ venues.I feel blessed.
Hearing Dylan’s wonderful singing (those two words haven’t always been linked when reviewing a Dylan show )was heartwarming, especially on the Sinatra ballads.Even I thought he might have misjudged those……..oh,ye of little faith……..trust in Bob should always be the mantra.
Also, emotional thoughts during a slow ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’, to realise that the dapper old chap at the piano is the gawky, skinny kid who wrote the song and made sure his thoughts started to be heard a half century ago.
The power of music is a wonderful thing.Long may Never Ending Tours continue to roll on for the likes of you and Dylan.Linked to creativity and re invention (eg new words inserted in ‘Tangled Up In Blue’) the songs are a life force.Styles vary, the emotional impact is the same.
Thanks
Dave
