some great songs in that list….great to hear Wally sing some of them again on Lar’s podcast
Great to hear the Cavan and Dublin crowds laid the welcome.. ballad lounges has a nice ring to it.. much preferred to the stadia and arena vibe (or lack of!).. P.S. I might’ve missed an earlier post on the Wally chat, has “Boy in the Wild” been mentioned? Another gem from the WP repertoire..

Great news Christy,
We have put together an initial list of acts to give our Live Music Hawick a fresh look for the dates 6th-9th August.

Hello Christy,
Something new has happened. I think i might have met a musical friend. Musicians can be an odd bunch, can’t we. Introverts who spend hours alone, who turn into raving extroverts as soon as we hit a stage. Maybe that’s just singers? I know I feel this conundrum within myself, anyway.
I saw a post in a Yorkshire musicians group on Facebook. Someone looking for people to make music with. She was very specific in her requirements. I read it. It sounded just like me. She’s in Brighouse! So I did the thing and responded. We met for coffee (in my living room). And it was great! Weirdly like meeting myself….
Sang a few songs. The voices blended, the noise curled round itself.
So I’m hopeful! You never know! It might be something!
Maybe a partner in crime?
I really hope it develops. I need a friend.

Christy what a gig last night, you were on top form.
Some setlist, great handful of planxty songs…I was delighted to have heard raggle taggle, what a tune!
The sound of the hall complimented you too, the reverb with the bodhrán and stitch of time stood out a lot.
Brilliant night through and through fair play to you! Some great laughs with the crowd.

I’d like to add that the sound in NCH on Sunday night is down to the expertise and application of my Sound Engineer David Meade , ably assisted by Dickon Whitehead and Johnny Meade….every venue has its own unique acoustics…
these NCH gigs are a joy to play….its a unique and wonderful venue…I love to go to gigs there as an listener….playing there has become a highlight of every year….house staff and crew could not be more accomodating…
Thanks C for a very uplifting gig last night, the setlist was eclectic and the dedications so diverse. For people who had travelled long distances to be there and were on their holidays to the traumatic story of a woman whose father was murdered in the Ballymurphy Massacre before she was even born. Yet you somehow blended it all into both a moving and entertaining gig. Another uplifting story is the great public response to the Jimmy Crowley appeal which was launched only a few days ago and which I shared here. They initially hoped to raise 25K, as the donations rolled in they increased the target. It now stands at 100k and they’ ve already received 96K and rising !! Jimmy and Eve have posted to say how ” overwhelmed ” they are by the support. What is amazing is that there are over 1.6K individual donations made up of 10s and 20s and 30s mostly, with some larger subscriptions, and many are anonymous, it is indeed heart warming. There is so much good in the world. GRAMMA. Beir bua agus beannacht. H

Hi Christy,
I’m lucky to be coming back to see you again on May 30th in the NCH, and bringing two special guests with me, my two young daughters. They have grown up to your songs and are looking forward to seeing you live. Emma is 11 and does a good rendition of My Little Honda 50, Olivia is 13 and her favourite is The Voyage. Looking forward to a special night. If you could say hello to them it would be great.

Hi Christy,
I returned to Duisburg now, just half an hour ago.
Thanks for playing “Victor Jara” yesterday in this shimmiring magical night in the National Concert Hall. I thought the audience would be more reserved, but that was a real phantastic relationship and cooperation in the whole venue. When the audience sing, it felt like everybody is knowing that something special is happening. And its great to see that huge joy you had that evening.
But who is asking you for retirement? No need to step back if you can create and enjoy such kinds of gigs. I always tell that, but now I am sure, I have seen the best Christy Moore concert, which is worth every effort. So I am looking forward for the Vicar Street dates and I guess I will find one or two concerts that fit in my working schedule.
And of course, my offer stands. If you want to see the „Dead Trousers“ in a huge stadium, seating, it is an honour for my wife to give her ticket to you. (17th of july in Cologne) Thats what she told me. Exactly!
See you and stay strong.

What a night in the NCH, so good to hear many old songs. All the memories of where I heard them first and whom I was with came flooding back. Too many loved ones and old friends gone, but as you say they are still with us. My daughter and I had a wonderful night, she was very quick to tell me it was the best gig she’d been to, you’re getting better with age no doubt about it ! THANKS
Christy's reply
You are very welcome Jean
my working life has been inspired and extended by the arrival of new generations of listeners…many older songs have been revitatlsed and new songs made welcome….last night a good example…a German listener requested “Victor Jara” a Nova Scotian “Magdalen Laundry” and a New Yorker asked for “The Raggle”…I gain fresh energy from the enthusiasm generated at every gig….
Thank you…all you good listeners…Ye keep the show on the road !
Hi Christy,
Great weekend for the Lake County, the Ladies & Gents delivered a Leinster title…. The one in a row is still on. To cap it off you delivered a top class performance in the NCH. A fantastic set list, that just ebbed and flowed with ease. Thanks Christy for keeping the Songs alive, many of which would now be lost but for yourself.
Best regards.

Well Christy,
That was some song list tonight what a variety and thanks for the shout out, God willing next year 🙏.
I am back at the hostel packing to head back to Halifax and what a way to end the trip. I was lucky to have visitwdWexford/Kilmore Quay where my great great grandfather lived and left from for Nova Scotia to make a better life in the 1820’s, I experienced Newgrange, visited some pubs and walked for miles and tonight was another highlight. Thank you so much for your effort and dedication to Ireland and the stories that need to live on.
All the best, Brendan the long hauler
Hi Christy, hope you had a better day than I had today and your gig went well. My favourite soccer team has been relegated to the third division today – unnecessarily, but without a doubt deserved😒. I hope we don’t need the Toten Hosen now for a second time to save us from getting broke in division 3…
@Günter: I must admit that I (like you) hadn’t expected that your team doesn’t have to be promoted to meet mine again…
Nonetheless, music is good cure for this disappointment, though – be it listening or playing it myself which I both did after the match. Music keeps or brings the spirit up again. And some cheer ups from other 4711ers helped too 🤗.
So let’s keep on keeping on!
