My name is Bobby and my girlfriend Aisling is an admirer of your music since she was a child. For Valentines Day this year i would love to get her a video message from her lifelong idol, would this be possible?? I understand you are probably busy with your music, but this would mean the world to her. I hope you get to see this message. Thank you.

I send best wishes to Aisling…hope ye have a loving Valentine’s day…its always a special day in this house…
dont have the means to do what you ask…we are in lockdown, no visitors…my old Nokia serves my purpose…which does not include the making of videos…
Hello Christy,
I’ve just read my previous comment. I am very sorry if it sounded cross. It does to me now, it wasn’t meant to when I wrote it. IT people can follow a solution like a sheepdog herding sheep, however much they’ve over simplified the problem.
I hope your guitar is as comforting as my harp is absorbing. Maire has completely changed how my hands work, so all the singing has moved to autopilot while I think about which knuckle is higher, which joints move and about a dozen other things that I didn’t know existed before.
And she’s right. It sounds clearer and purer already, and it’s not so tiring on the fingers.
Clocking off work soon. I’ll be listening to Live at the Point.
Rebecca

I got no sense of cross…..that said, there is nothing wrong with being cross….I can get cranky and/or cross myself sometimes but I try not to nail myself to the cross…..I try and keep it light here…there is enough darkness all around us….
Trawling the archives of this wonderful tv station, I chanced on the superb 2020 doc about the life of Liam Og O’Flynn. Superbly made and containing so many beautiful images as well as a stunning soundtrack.
I know how much Liam means to you, but as an audient, it was a pleasure to witness his playing, sometimes close up – but never as close as your view! I liked your comment about when Liam’s musical cue came and the song lifted as he kicked in…also, some great shots of the four of you happy and relaxed.
It would boost anyone to see this piece – and to celebrate a special guy – gone too soon.

Hi Christy, sorry to read about next week’s live gig. So many of us were looking forward to it, probably you most of all as performing is such a defining part of your life. I have no idea how many people are involved even in a solo session, but better safe than sorry in the end. Think positively!!! For us this means more time to look forward to a new appointment ;-). There’s better times to come. And as I live in a former mining area I can cite Luke Kelly : “So we’ll live on songs and hope (instead)”. Stay safe.
Birgit
Christy's reply
I would estimate that a solo streamed gig from The (empty) National Concert would directly involve 30 people….
Hello Christy,
Is there a way to take hold of this situation and control it?
I’m not sure if this is stupid, but isn’t what’s required a performance space plus some gear to do the techie bit? I’m thinking of your local theatre. Apart from the performer being in that place, can the rest be controlled remotely?
I’ve got my IT head on. Maybe I’m just beating it against a wall.

Very disappointing Christy…. but the correct decision. You have given soooo much to us throughout the years;;;; this is just an interlude. We will soon be out the Gap. KEEP SAFE.
Dear Christy
A disappointment to hear that concert at NCH postponed, but only postponed and you’ve provided us with such a wealth of material to keep us going.
I hit the big 70 this year and have told my family that the only gift I want is a ticket to the first live gig you do in the north west of UK, whenever that’s possible.
Hope everyone keeping well. Pam

NCH has today announced that the planned livestream concert by Christy Moore for Saturday 16th of January 2021 is postponed to Saturday 1st May 2021.
The livestream concert has been rescheduled for the May date considering recent public health measures introduced in respect of Covid 19 and to protect the well-being of the artist, his production team and staff at NCH.
If the new date for the livestream is not suitable for ticket holders, they are being advised to contact DICE.fm directly to arrange a refund.
The National Concert Hall wishes to apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Christy Moore’s livestream concert is presented by the National Concert Hall, Dublin in partnership with Serious UK and is supported by Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
Dear Christy,
It must be awful news for you but i think the tonic comes ,perhaps, in the same shape as it did for me.
Matt McGinn, as we know is a brilliant young man from the North of Ireland, and sitting here at the desk playing his Livin’ album the last track Slow Down is beautiful ,and has calmed my soul as work frustrates me today here, it is the last track on the cd.
However after 8 minutes the song ends but i can hear the disc still whirring though the music seemed to have ended….i had forgotten why.
I waited and wondered in the silence as the cd clock ticked on .
There after 13 minutes and so many seconds he returns ,with his unlisted faint and lovely extra song, to remind me never to be impatient, because music will overcome in the end.
Stay safe
Rory
Very sorry about the gig being pulled. Thanks for all you’re doing in these tricky times – riffing here is invaluable – new music a bonus, when the time is right.
Keep well – all the best to family and songsters everywhere.

Dear Christy, don’t be too down about the gig being off, we can all wait, it will be all the better when it gets held. Keep the chin up, keep strumming and know we will get there.
I appreciate that your life has been performing and ours is listening so it is easier for us, but even performing to your good lady, or son will be the sharing of your unique ability…keep on keeping on.

Good morning Christy,
Traveller has become, i reckon, my most played single album over the last 6 months or so. It seems the perfect album to spin away in the dark of an early morning . I remember when i first got it, those decades ago, i was not sure it had the qualities of the previous CM stuff and away it went for a good couple of years , but gradually it returned and over the years has become a firm favourite.
Could i ask if the Andy Moore mentioned as a vocal contributor is your very own, fine voiced, lad who performs sometimes now on lockdown etc with you?
Even the album cover strikes the right note to accompany the album.
I Will be off with a pal to scale Ruberslaw at 7, she will be very much snow capped this morning….on the rocky road to ruberslaw and dublin 1 2 3 4 5
Stay safe

Hi Christy. Hope you’ve been keeping well through these crazy times. Your concert in Belfast was our last concert before the world ended!!
Listen I’ve bought a ticket for the stay at home concert next week, I don’t know if you’ve already recorded it or you do it live, it’s my father, Seamus Doherty’s 63rd birthday on Saturday. He’d be thrilled if you could give him a mention and play Beeswing.
Keep well Christy.

From your times here, I know you have fond memories of Granada tv – responsible for Apted’s ‘Up series, following the lives of a mix of English kids from the age of 7 (in the 60s),updated every 7 years. (63, being the most recent)… you/companeros here might have seen some of the docs. I can’t over recommend them and well worth checking out. A very canny project – showing a range of people across classes and how they deal with life…
Back to your lockdown sessions – a great distraction from the world outside!
