I hear that the carrots are very hard in Timoleague
Dear Christy,
THANK YOU so much for this BRILLIANT gig in NCH last night!!!
You gave us a most joyful Saturday night, sitting in front of the screen spellbound we almost felt like being in a real venue … the only thing we missed was the “howling of the dogs” during Joxer.
Hilary has already summed up your Live Stream Gig so nicely – there’s little to add.
Yellow Triangle (thanks to Val for this great suggestion) and Spancilhill were very very special!!!
Hope you could hear us singing with you … at the end we shouted loudly MORE, MORE, MORE!
Best wishes,
Traudel & Horst
Our son John got the ticket for the gig as a present from his Mam and watched it from his home in Geneva. His girlfriend said he sang along with every song. And posted a photo. He said it was a brilliant. He plays with the band The Emigrants in Geneva.
Well done Christy

greeting to Killaloe and Geneva…best wishes to The Emigrants
Thank you so much for the amazing show last night. It was the highlight of the last 6 months. I loved the setlist, always good to hear Yellow Triangle, such a passionate song. Here’s hoping the next gig won’t be 6 months away.

whallup there you Beggars of The Blanch…keep comin back
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The concert was outstanding, as I knew it would be. I have seen you a number of times in Australia, quite a few years ago, and worried that I wouldn’t feel the magic again. Times are difficult everywhere and your music reminds me that together people can achieve great things. I believe we will get through these difficulties and hopefully we will have learnt some lessons, and understand that we all in this life together. Stay safe, and continue to spread your messages of hope and love.
Kindest regards, Anne
Christy.. I can’t imagine how hard that was for you..but it was so wonderful and uplifting to see and hear you again. Toes were tapping, choruses shared and craic was had. Thank you from down under.
Christy's reply
hope you have a safe and happy Springtime up there
Hi C, what an opening shot with the bodhran summoning us to the NCH ? I admit I cried at that clarion call ! You delivered a glorious, generous gig with nods to so many, your family past and present, to Wally, J Duhan, Jimmy Mac, Mandy Murphy, Shane & Jim, Christie Hennessy, your companero Declan, your loyal crew and your spiritual home in the Royal Spa and of course to the NCH. You also managed to address the issues of the day without preaching, and acknowledged the work of those on the frontline, all in less than 90 minutes, what a professional ? Your welcome to listeners from NY to Japan and from Santiago to Shhneem and points between must have gladdened many hearts. I cannot imagine the amount of preparation you put into this live stream. I’m already on my fourth listen and enjoying such gems as They Never Came Home, Matty, Nancy Spain, Spancill Hill, Ride On. As many have already said it was amazing how you crossed the divide from empty hall to our homes. Míle buíochas óm chroí, beir bua and beannacht go deo. H
Christy's reply
Fair play to You Hilary…still recovering my energy..it went well Thanks Be…I did a lot of prep in advance…had a 16 song set laid out but, as always, strayed form the script…. the proposed time was 80 minutes and we got home by the bell…I forgot about the empty hall soon as I got going…I positioned myself in a thousand living rooms……
September with no GAA….
Hi Christy,
I am watching the gig from home in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney and just wanted to say THANK YOU.
It is magical and moving in the midst of what has been a really difficult year for all of us.
All best to you mate, thanks again.
Cheers,
Michael

What a great gig Christy, a real humdinger with a front row seat for a tower of songs. Missed, not so much, the hecklers but your cracking responses to them. Loved Spancill Hill and Yellow Triangle, when my nephew was studying Human Rights law at the New York Bar, I wrote the words to him. Thanks for the music you do us fans proud. How about an online memorabilia shop for a lockdown poster or t-shirt. Le grá Mary.
Christy's reply
Mary, currently all available energy and resources are going into preparing a new album..recording commences next month and we are hopeful of a 2021 release…in the meantime there is a retro album pending in Nov. ( from Universal who have acquired the Tara label)…your proposed shop may very well be considered at a future date but all hands are on deck at the moment …thon T shirt and memorabilia will have to go on the long finger….hope The Road is safe this Mon morning
My son Shane and myself went to see you in Vicar Street back in the first few days of January, a great night when we didn’t know what was coming down the tracks and that it would be our last concert for a while. So it was great to see you live again last night in our sitting room and Tiger our dog was able to enjoy the music too. While both the performer and audience miss the presence of each other it must be easier to concentrate without having to do any crowd management of the odd gombeen who likes to ‘perform’ from the audience! Super show – and more intimate than the nights down in the Point Horse shed many years ago. Thanks again, Seamus Shane and Tiger

Hello Christy,
Content and comforted this morning. If the spirit thing is still turned on the door works both ways, clearly.
Listening is so different to playing, and not playing is worse. They managed to run something at the grove last week. Gotta get there again.
I hope your arm is ok. Those guitars are massive. If you don’t mind me asking, would gigging with beautiful Atkins be too complicated?
Rebecca
Christy's reply
I love my Atkin guitars..I play them every day here at home… they are warm, friendly, comfortable….I’ve tried them on stage a few times but neither myself nor David ( Sound Technician) can get them to resound as well as my 40 year old workhorses….they have become part of my work process….
Those work guitars never come home…they live with John (Guitar Technician)…he minds them well, sees to all their needs…I only see them at gigs… away from the footlights they feel cumbersome, awkward and hard to play…
I need gig adrenalin to tame them, I need that waft of after-shave and eau-de-cologne…the roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd…
Best seats in front of son’s giant tv – just the ticket. Found myself remembering my poem ‘May Nights’, circa 1988, written following a radio broadcast of the North & South London gig: “He sang of the night they locked the doors and his face filled up with pain…” It may lessen, but never completely leaves, does it?
When covid allows, yes Brighton and Hove actually, but save a few days to visit the beautiful Sussex Weald. It’s a well-kept secret but if you need a guide, I’m Sussex born and raised. As an amateur musician, I’m used to requests from mates for bed and breakfast. And if the arm muscle is still playing up, I can even offer some Reiki.
Your thanks for the poem was a cassette of the album. May the voice of gold stay strong.
Love and hugs xx

Thank you Blanche….
its a “long arm bicep rupture”
I’m told its a common enough injury…apparently Brian O’Driscoll played for a full season with this condition (an Ireland Rugby Captain)….but he was’nt playing a guitar !!
always a joy to hear from a long-haul listener….Shine On
Well Christy, in half an hour myself and some family and friends are starting off a sponsored walk round ever street in our Border town.
We will be doing it now in socially distanced pairs.
Mother has made the flapjack and rolls, dad will refill the flasks of tea.
We did it 10 years ago, it will take a bit longer now with the older legs. I decided to rally the troops again this year for another shot , it will only take about 6 hours, raising funds and awareness for Meningitis Research, Mental Health uk, Trussell foodbanks and Alzhiemers scotland.
I shall be listening to your music on the route today.
I am spurred on my way today by last night’s fantastic gig. All that was missing was Hilary in the front row.
Please thank your good lady for suggesting Yellow Triangle, my personal highlight, and for her nudge towards Lisdoonvarna.
You never disappoint, keep on keeping on.
Regards
Rory
