Great watching/listening (nice touch to use monochrome and for guitar geeks to see your left hand at work,Atkin guitar in the spotlight,I assume?)-and thanks for the link…especially good for a Luddite like me ,for whom social media is new fangled and the Walkman is still an object of wonder…
Always interesting when an artist mixes music and history.Louise Jordan has produced fascinating projects on women in WW1/suffrage/now marking Florence Nightingale @200-with emphasis on her many talents,in addition to pioneer nursing care… http://www.louisejordan.co.uk is well worth a trawl -might also be of interest to companeros currently home educating kids-good luck!
Keep on keepin’ on

sure Dave ….that was the Atkin…..the response to the two songs has been overwhelming….we’re gonna continue the project
Thanks for the songs today and good to see you. I first heard the Gardener in Guildford, 2016 and it was on my Dad’s birthday about 5 months after he’d passed, he was “The Gardener” and it resonated then and stuck with me since. Be well and we’ll see you soon.
Brian.
Christy's reply
every time I sing Paul Doran’s song it reminds me of my childhood, of all the Gardener’s I encountered on a daily basis…
thank you Brian
Hi Christy,
Great surprise this morning. “The Gardner” was beautiful. “Aisling” is one of two songs I’d love to hear played more (the other being “Oblivious”). Glad your keeping the fingers nimble and voice strong. Best.
Buck
Christy's reply
Hey Buck, I’ve added Oblivious to the list BUT ( and I’m happy to report) there have been hundreds of requests on various platforms…..its gonna take me a while to get round to them all ….but I’ll give it a whirl…might even do 3 next week
Hi Christy,
The Gardner/Aisling was a welcome surprise this morning- thanks for taking the time, and thanks to Andy for facilitating. The Gardener always reminds me of my grandfather- one of the last family farmers in his area as the suburbs closed in all around…learned to find wild blackberries in the hedge rows from him, and that the barn swallows return meant it was time to transplant seedlings to the fields… he was a gentle man and its a beautiful song.
I have always hoped to hear you sing Wally Page’s song So Do I when at gigs, but it never made it into the rotation. If I could make a request for an upcoming social media gig, that would be it. One of my sons had a lot of health issues as a baby, and So Do I was an antidote to a lot of fear and grief at a very uncertain time in my life. 15 years (and one healthy teenager) later it still carries me.
Ok, I should get to work (across the room). Stay well, all the best, Kathleen
Christy's reply
request noted Kat….may take a while, may happen next week, who knows what way the wind blows…..Wally wrote the song while resididng in a two man tent above Killary Harbour….such a great song writer and good friend
Thank you soooooo much Christy; and to Andy too for helping make it happen.
You mention requests: well mine is anything you fancy.
Best Regards.
Patsy.
The Gardener is a wonderful song and very fitting…
When they close the last shopping mall could make an outing too one of these days… Please keep up with the broadcasting if possible for you, be assure it means a lot to many, really. Thanks to all involved.
Entering the worse phase here in the far south, with good spirits and calm. Missing you all, stay safe everyone.

Lovely to hear your songs on Facebook. The Gardener is just beautiful. Your voice never changes!
I have been to many of your gigs all around Ireland from Dublin, Belfast, Cavan, Tyrone to name a few. My mother used to always say “You’re not going to see Christy again are ya?”, and my response would be “as long as Christy’s playing Ma, I’m going”!
Currently living over in Abu Dhabi at the minute and finding myself listening and practising the old Trad music even more than I would at home. I was wondering in your next video could you play “Beeswing” or “Viva la Quinte Brigada”? They are two of my old faves!
You dedicated the latter to my brother who was home on a holiday from Perth one night in Vicar Street a couple of years ago when I wrote to you. He was thrilled!

Great to see you online looking fit & strong, singing the songs, Christy. The song “Aisling” brings back memories of my first time to hear it – a Vicar St gig many years back when you opened with it.. I can hear Declan’s Gibson acoustic solo’s still.. Looking forward to more of the online posts..If you are looking for requests, t’would be lovely to hear Wally’s “So Do I” some week if you fancy it… Keep her lit. Kev

I hope all is well with you and yours – Christ we’re nearly out the other side of this now. As a Cork man in Iceland, i am delighted to say that we are coming out of the lock-down and getting back to sports, school etc.
I heard a song by Passenger yesterday called “Scare away the dark” and I immediately thought of you. Not sure the words are what you would sing – you would maybe have your own lyrics – (It would be amazing to hear that) but the song instantly said Christy in my mind – So i dunno if it is a song you know .
Anyway boss – I hope you are safe and well and I’d love to see you here in Iceland at some stage.
Stay safe,
Johnny

Blackout curtains drawn back…sun entering and mellow Scots sounds of harp and voice… http://www.rachelnewtonmusic.com …very welcome.
Interesting to trawl the site and find good tracks .Also,Rachel’s newsletter has info about her facebook / lockdown streaming etc
My neighbours have a family gathering.I’ll increase the volume of the bunker harp to drown them out.Funny how lockdown doesn’t apply to some folk.Rant over…
Christy, A song that comes to mind with me that I don’t think you sing is Ringsend Rosie, did you ever consider singing it? I think it would suit your style, I’ve heard the late Brendan Grace
singing it. It has lovely lyrics. Great to be back out of cocooning.
Sad news that legendary German photographer,Astrid Kirchherr died last week. Her iconic photos of the young Beatles in Hamburg will resound.Great feature here… http://www.daytrippin.com I saw her c 10 years ago at a Liverpool Uni exhibition/Q and A about the early times pre ‘fab four’ world fame…In the early 60s,none of them had a clue what success lay ahead…they were happy to pose for the young, talented ‘snapper’..she was happy to cook for them and let them use her bath!
I’m also reminded of your reminiscences and experiences as you broke into the folk scene.I have a ‘Leader records’ promo photo of you from c 1971…we all looked so similar…long hair, especially…as Richard Thompson put it-‘the uniform of anti look alike’!Great to have photos of gigs and life…any anecdotes of your/Planxty photo sessions would be welcome!
The bunker is brightened by sunlight today-might venture out …
I hope you and your family are all keeping well in these strange old times. You turned the big 7.5 recently I believe…. I can’t believe it! I saw you live in Knightsbrook hotel in February and would have put you down as 65
It was such a special gig, it was a gift to my parents and fiancee from me for Christmas. My dad and fiancee, David, are huge fans (and my mum and I left that night fans, too!) My parents came over from Scotland for the gig, and as my dad had been very sick the previous year, it was so precious to sit and watch you perform while holding my dad’s hand! You sang all his favourite songs (Jockster goes to Stuttgart, Lisdoonvarna, ‘The Voyage’ which my mum and he have adopted as “their song”! The only fave not sung was Viva la Quinta Brigada :)) Aswell as all the favourites, David and I left with a couple of songs that we’d never heard before (Beeswing and Lightning Bird Wind River Man) I’d say Alexa is sick of you at this stage because you’re singing to us all day! 😂
Like I said, it was a truly special gig, but didnt realise quite how special at the time.
It was the last gig we were at, the last time I saw my parents and probably the last time I’ll see them for a long time as they are in Scotland cocooning! The memories and photos I have from that weekend are priceless.
Myself and David were due to get married in Scotland on 6th June this year. We had planned a Scottish/Irish themed wedding, with traditions from both countries and lots of Irish music and Scottish cealidh dancing. We have rescheduled for next year and while we are a wee bit disappointed, there’s not a soul on the planet who hasn’t had to change one plan or another during to this pandemic so we aren’t feeling too down about it. We intend on having a great day, we’ll cook the meal we were intending to have at the wedding breakfast, we’ll exchange vows, I might even make him dance to our first dance song in the kitchen! To make the day extra special, I was wondering if there was anyway you could send a message of some sort to him? Anything at all….a video/message/email…. it would be fantastic to have a little xtra something. I understand you probably get requests non stop so completely understand that you mightn’t be able to help and that’s no bother at all.
I hope in the coming months, things get easier and restrictions get less and less and you can get back to gigging. A gentleman once told me that everyone should try and see Christy Moore live in concert, not just for the music but for the story telling. And now that I have, it’s a piece of advice I will surely pass on to others!
Thanks and best wishes.
