I will be at your Lough Rynn Castle gig on the 26th of march
My wife will be there and thinks you might remember from days past
She was Maggie Midgley nee O,Neill her brother Paul O,Neill and friends Vin Garbut and Paul Betts ( you once told her from the little stage in the Cleveland Bay in Eston Middlesbrough)
It would be wonderful if you could do the same at Lough Rynn just for a laugh
That would be Pete Betts….many great Folk Clubs around Teeside….I recall hearing a very young Vin Garbutt in Eston around 1967….
I got a taker for the show in Sligo immediately; a gentleman from Limerick. He sent me his version of “Cliffs of Dooneen” in appreciation. That kind of wonderful gesture seems very Irish to me. Loved it! No response for the Claremorris show yet. If you know anyone who is looking for a (free) ticket please give them my email or phone number. I hate to think of an empty seat at one of your gigs.

Hi Christy, have loved your music for decades and seen you live a couple of times over the years.
I just decided to do some drawings to go with one of your many classics. I hope you like it and maybe feel like sharing with others,
All the very best
Keep on keeping on
Dear Artful Doodler…..Thanks for sharing…..I love the flow as you spread your colour about…watched it a second time with sound on mute
Hi christy we are here waiting for you in mullingar park hotel . Would there be any chance you would sing Honda 50 for matthew rowe one of your youngest fans hes 9 and hes here to see you live for the 1st time
I have been listening frequently to that wonderfully stirring ,yet little seen, album ‘spirit of freedom’ again. Songs of beauty and passion ,and today ‘the people’s own mp’ seems even more telling after johnson’s election south of here and the recent 3 way photo finish with you.
Anyway i was recently decamped from my broken down train in a fairly deserted place called Blackrod, somewhere near Bolton, and boarded a slow train to rochdale via manchester. Standing between carriages with me was a lovely young family, 5 kids all under 8yo, a mum n dad with clearly little money and a huge suitcase heading somewhere. The kids were wonderfully behaved, 3 in the luggage rack, one on the case and one standing with mum ,dad, me and a couple of others in a cold, damp train end, a jam packed train and not a single commuter rose to give them a seat, such selfishness. The kids never complained and made it into a little adventure. They made me think of ‘the voyage’ a song for all family situations but ,on that day, most of all for them. I complimented the parents on their kids’ when we alighted, i deeply regret not giving them a wee something for the rest of their voyage day’s journey.
I have many memories of that album…not least how it was sequestered by a record Label…mainly good positive memories…Mairtín O’Connor’s playing on “Plane Crash at Los Gatos” still rings out 40 years on….
Bruce Scott singing “The Peoples Own MP” after a concert in The Phil in Liverpool….we were in the dressing room after a concert and Bruce was in for a chat…we went out onto the stage where he sang a stunning version of his song out to that legendary auditorium…I first met Bruce in 1967 in a Folk club( twas either Warrington,Wigan or St Helen’s)….he was knockin around with another legend..the late Barry Halpin…now there was a pair of men you dont meet every day…
just 45 mins to show time here in Mullingar
Hi Christy we are going to Wexford Friday 10th July, Sean plays football for Suncroft and has Moorefield friends …. so looking forward
To all interested fans,
I have one ticket to see Christy in Claremorris on 5/15 and one ticket to see him in Sligo on 5/16. My plans have changed and I won’t be able to make the trip to lovely Ireland at this time. I’m a little bummed out but would feel a lot better if I knew somebody was enjoying the show. I would love to give the tickets (free of charge) to anybody who is available and excited to see one or both shows (please don’t sell the tickets). My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and phone number is 001-703-732-8476. Give me a shout and I can mail you the tickets.
Buck,if that does not work out let me know..we can sort something out
I’ve been listening to you pretty solidly for months. Enjoying every minute and trying to learn from you.
I took a quick recording of myself this morning and hope you don’t mind me posting it
I also hope the link works.
It’s my version of January Man.
I’m still not sure I’ve got the right key yet. It’s a bit rough but I hoped you might like to hear it.
Sounds good Rebecca….I first heard it over 50 years ago from the man who wrote it…Dave Goulder…I heard him sing it at his Folk Club in Edinburgh
Took a 10 hour drive yesterday. Lots of your songs. I must have listened to “St. Brendan’s Voyage” off of “On the Road” at least 50 times. That outro could go on for hours and still not be long enough. Thanks for making the time fly by. Cheers.
Sorry for delay posting this – great gig at Knightsbrook on Friday 7th- it’s better you are getting all the time.
Especially special that we had our 5 year old Lucy with us – for her first concert ever!! She’s a big fan and gives great renditions of Continental Ceilidh, Sail on Jimmy, City of Chicago, Nancy Spain, Lingo Politico ………….. to name a few. She sang along to almost everything that night, but of course got shy and wouldn’t look up at you at all when you started talking to her after I called for Sail on Jimmy to get the juke box going – but ever since is telling everybody that you told the whole audience the story about her telling her Daddy to shut while she singing!!
Anyway – thanks a million to yourself and Paddy for having us (& your gift of the plectrum to her). Great show as always – Sail On!!
Hi Lucy….I’m amazed to read that you are singing these songs already..when I was 5 I had only 1 song..I am very impressed with your repertoire…Thank you for listening at Knightsbrook last week
Hi Christy, Thank you gor you’r reply! My sons name is Cameron his favourite song at the min is probably Johnie jump up or lingo politico. Is there any way of reserving seats near the front so he would get to see? I rang the hotel earlier and they said that they can’t that we would have to ask the organisers… Thanks Sarah.
Fair play to you
The Junuary man is gone; the elections are all over…..none of us pushing up Clover yet !. I suppose they will spend some time dancing around one another before bedtime arrives. So looking forward to your Midlands leg of the never ending Tour. Be assured there will be the usual welcome for you on arrival.
Hey Patsy….FF FG and Labour say they cant talk….have they forgotten Collins,De Valera,Aiken,Andrews, McGiolla, to mention but a few who marched in Freedom’s Fight…..(I hesitate to include Mr Varadkar’s predecessor Eoin O’Duffy)
Hope all is well on the Broad Street
Christy. Herself arrived on the 9th of January at 8.01am. 7lbs of pure Wexford beef. I held her in me arms, cried, kissed my partner and sang The Curragh Of Kildare to her quietly as I looked down the road to the wonderful journey ahead of us. See yis in the Opera House!!!!
happy to read your news….very best to U3
Am reading your reply to Lillywhiterowe. I think that tour was ’79. Ye told people that the tour of Europe lost money and two concerts in the National Stadium were the ones that made money, it was around April ’79, I was there. Yez could have stayed at home – you could have gone to Prosperous and played the 8 nights! Is that the tour where the group played in the garden of Mussilini’s house in Rome and a punter called up from the audience “The Good Ship Kang-arr-oo.’
that was the time….41 years ago…..the original Band plus Matt Molloy….
Hi Christy, bringing my son to see you on Friday night in mulligar for his 1st time he will be 8 on Saturday and loves you’r music… Are you active on instagram? Not sure if it is you who replied to me and just wanted to check before replying…
Hi Sarah, what is your son’s name ?whats his favourite song ?
Dear Christy, We spoke some months ago outside the Pavillion.
I was giving out flyers on behalf of Extinction Rebellion about the need for action on climate change. I was so happy when some months later you gave a moving rendition of The Jim Page song, The Clock Winds Down to Zero, on the Late Late Show.
I know you also included it for your Barbican Concert. I can’t wait to hear you sing it live. We can always rely on you Christy to highlight the big social and political issues of the day. This one is big Oil and Gas versus our young people and the poor of the world. My deep appreciation, Fergal Costello
“Its hard to know what to say
when a Child looks up at you and says
hey Old Man, what did you do ?
We were depending on You”
now the clock winds down to zero (Jim Page from Seattle)
Hi Christy we have seen you a few times but went to Vicar Street in Dec 2019 with my husband and two sons who absolutely loved the show, my son of 15 was his first time and was so taken with ‘ Sail on Jimmy’ so we have booked tickets in Wexford Opera House this coming July so maybe you might play in for Sean Browne from Suncroft and thank you for some memorable shows …….Noreen
Hi Noreen…which night are you coming to Wexford…
greetings to dear old Suncroft..home of the legendary Toss McCarthy..a good friend of mine and a great Kildare and Moorefield Footballer
Hi Christy, Brendan from Newbridge, long-time fan, first time posting here!! My friend Patrick and I go to see you about 4/5 times a year and have been at some very memorable gigs. We were at your two great shows in Kilashee this weekend, and loved them both! We were queuing from 6pm Friday to get up the front, always better to be up close! I appreciate you playing ‘Ringing The Bell’ when I requested it, love all your repertoire, but that and ‘Sail on Jimmy’ are two great ones off the ‘new’ list. The latest 2 albums are Gold, keep up the great work, looking forward to the next gig. B
Good call out Brendan..hope all is well in the Home Town Tonight…
From Hawkfield to Kilbelin, China Town to Rosy’s Lane,
Dear Christy, thank you for playing Ordinary Man at your gig in Killashee Hotel in Naas on Saturday night I really enjoyed your music From Niamh Mcdonald.
Thanks Niamh…some great listeners on Sat night
Further to my message of 5 Feb, have now secured tickets for the day after our Golden Wedding so we shall see you in Wexford on 11 July. Never been to that area of Ireland before so we are having a few days there to explore as well. Your concert will be the highlight of the trip for us. It seems ages since we last saw you and Declan at the Festival Hall – much closer to home for us! Take care.
Hope you have a wonderful trip to the “Sunny South East”….Wexford is a lovely Town and County
