Hey Christy. Since sevearl years now, my hole Family comes to Barrowland to hear your songs. Is there allready a Plan for this year to come to Glasgow?
Hope well see you soon.
Morra Samuel….. we normally play Glasgow every 18 months or so…give or take a week or two…I dont have any further info at this time
Hi Christy. You made a little man very happy last night. Thank you so so much. He was treated like a little star. You & your team are amazing . We will definitely be back!
Diarmuid was a great listener…hope he is recovered today..tell him it was great to meet him….he was goin grand until he became airborne..that threw him a bit !
The 5 piece sounds really good …… your gonna need a bigger stage !! Don’t think Sail on Jimmy could’ve sounded any better and the man himself in the 2nd row.
Enjoy the trip to banks of the Lee …. we will have to head back to the Hills. …. if we leave at the same time , we’ll see who gets to their destination first.
well done Marty..we’re now at opposite ends of the country but together in song..
We have all… love, family, friends, good jobs. But not enough for a summer sale to a concert. We heard you 25 years and no one could tell me: will you come back? We need your voice for Friday for future, for your humanity. Come on and be with us in Hamburg.
Thank you for your invitation…….I would very much like to return once more to Hamburg ……but I have nothing planned at this time…..it becomes more difficult as time passes….there are many factors involved that are completely beyond my control
Dont know if it’s in your plans for the Marquee on Saturday night, but I’d love to hear Viva la Quinta Brigada .
Together we’ll sing,
“Adelante is the cry around the hillside,
Let us all remember them tonight”
hi Christy… hope you’re keeping well. my husband was to attend your gig in the Marquee in June 2011. we became parents for the first time that May. unfortunately 6 weeks after the birth of our daughter Chloë May (she was born in May)… she was diagnosed with a very rare, very serious neurological life-limiting syndrome. she’s very complex and we’ve spent a lot of time in and out of hospital. however, she’s also a fighter and turned 8 recently. I am her full/time carer. so tomorrow night, with the help of a nurse to care for her, we’ll be at your gig whoooo hooo!! my amazing husband – Daragh and our amazing support team my Mum & Dad – Pat & Frances. I know you get gazillions of requests but if you could mention our little warrior Chloë May… it’ll make our day. lots of love ~ Ruth Xx
Thank you for sharing Ruth….I hope all goes well tonight in The Marquee by the River Lee….very best wishes to You and Daragh, in particular to your little warrior Chloe May
Thank you so much for the photo and cd signing at the Frank Conroy Memorial in Killcullen.I was so starstruck i forgot to say hello to you from all of Joe Monaghans family on the night ….you sang “Ole Woman from Wexford “” to me 😂😂Anywho Looking forward to seeing you again in Killashee maybe ? You may remember Joe if not we all remember you 😜
I remember Joe well. We gigged together in the 80s.Joe was a really good Singer.I played in his Family Pub many years back.Joe and I hit it off. I liked to sit and listen to him sing.
The Frank Conroy Memorial in Kilcullen was remarkable. To remember how that young man made his way from Kilcullen to Spain to face Franco’s Fascist Army is to be inspired by his courage and determination. 80 years on we gathered to remember him.It was an honour to be part of the event.
“They came to stand beside the Spainish people
to try and stem the rising Fascist tide
Franco’s allies were the powerful and wealthy
Frank Ryan’s men came from the other side”
I will be at the gig in the Radisson in Athlone tomorrow night with my Dad, Eamon. He is a big fan and turned 60 last Sunday. He’s no ordinary man but if you wish him a happy birthday he would be delighted.
lets see what happens in Ath Luain….I have allsorts in tomorrow night…cousins, uncles aunts, 2 parish priests, a bishop and 4 nuns home from the Far East… an Isis defector who used to play corner back for his county, 3 accountants who cooked books for little mickey fingleton, a group of Germans who think they are coming to hear a Toten Hosen tribute band….the treasurer of the Local FF Cumann lookin for a benefit gig ….my grandfather Christy Moore hailed from this great town so I have many relations descending upon the Ballad Lounge….but all that said, If I get a chance at all , I’ll sing a song for Eamon Kilduff and him only a young fellow
We’re going to the marquee Saturday nite.
Any chance you could wish my wife Joan kelleher, a happy birthday.
(We won’t mention the number for safety sake)🤫.
From Hubby David & her 2 boys Seán &
Go raibh míle maith agat!
we’ll have to wait and see David..there are thousands heading for the marquee sat and at least 500 lookin for callouts…..gotta save some time to sing the songs..
Was tough singing out there, me low end was pitchy in the dryness of the place (cue gag here …)
Anyways, I explain more in the info box if ye get the time. Here’s to Pecker ✊
Hope you’re well
maith an fear Dylan óg…
what a setting in which to sing The Pecker’s auld song..
Last month in London, Pecker and Madeline’s daughter Sarah attended our London gig….what a great buzz to meet her and her Beau…she is my God-daughter… I held her for her baptism, to see her all these years later brought back many memories of earlier times…
good to hear that you are still doin some hard travellin….its down those roads that we learn what we need to know..
Joe Chester shared a lovely song with me
Small world Christy, and I keep finding weird connections. Shropshire Fred Jordan lived just a few miles from me here in south shrops .i used to pick him up from his cottage and take him to our local pub for folk night every month or so.What a lovely man he was.He is much missed round here.
Hello christy ,me ould mate (well thats how I think of you since I
first heard the Black Album’ (planxty ) 45 0r so years ago. Up until then I thought that Val Doonican (no disrespect to the man ) singing Paddy Mc Gintys goat was irish folk music. .My boys have been well raised and they love you and the old stuff .They are still up late into the night doing their best with Beeswing .Joe thinks he can sing and Rob imagines he,s Declan on the Guitar.I still think she.d have had a lurcher.rather than a wolfhound, you probably disagree and you know best
Any way ,coming to Cork to see you this weekend, and hope you have as good a night as I surely will
I used to have a lovely album called “A Shropshire Farmer” by a singer called Fred Jordan..I met him at Keele Folk festival back 66-67 time…..beautiful gentle singing from a man of the land
hope you have a good trip to the River Lee
Superb Planxty doc…sitting here with a daft grin and going back over the decades…
top quality playing and tasty camera work…Sally Brown must have some tales as well…
roll and go..D
“I shipped on board of a Liverpool Liner”
Feck I made loads of spelling errors. Must be time for specs.
nor a tall..yure suond as a bill
Looking forward to Saturday night. 42 years ago you were playing in Kennedy’s of Puckane. A seat was held on the long stool for me in the front. You asked why us that one empty? You ere told innocently by a mate that Id be a bit late as I was feeding calves you were in full belt a half hour later when I walked in quietly head down. You stopoed in the middle of a song embarrassed me eith Howya and asked are the calves fed and drew the clap of the night. Im 60 now and no calves. Seen you many times and sinv all your songs. Goin6to this one eith my daughter Alma another huge fan. I have your hardback book of songs and was wondering how to get it signed? Please sing the Beeswing for an oldish fan Saturday night. A forever fab Seamus Costello Cloughjordan.
I used to like playing in that Room…Paddy Kennedy was a most hospitable patron..the dressing room used to be in the family parlour…most comfortable and homely
Sat night at The Marquee a very different proposition…very large audience….getting the book signed not as simple as in Kennedy’s of Puckaune…..its a bulky auld yoke to be hawking around Cork all day….all I can suggest is that you approach one of my crew…they will be working around the stage…perhaps it might be easier to leave it until I play a smaller gig closer to home…are ye still at the Cricket in Cloughjordan ?
Hi Christy. My son Diarmuid Moore is super excited he’s going to see you Friday in Athlone with his Dad & Auntie & Uncle! Give him a shout out if you can! Thanks a million & keep up the great work!
hope young Diarmuid has a great night with his Da

after your posting I took a quick look at Leagues O’Toole’s fine doc on our old Band, ended up watching the whole shebang in the early hours..had not seen it for 13 or 14 years, I got drawn right back in..all the more poignant now that our beloved Piper has flown the nest..
Andy had me laughing out loud at some of his reflections…..
“When we hit the road with Planxty, days and nights in that Transit Van
Criss-crossing the Nation from Kildimo we drove to Kilcrohane.
Merrily we kissed The Quaker, lay down with Alligators as we sailed upon the Lakes of Pontchartrain
O the Music and the banter, the sound of Liam Óg’s chanter, I’ll never hear the likes of him again”
….. …………………………..( a new verse to a never-ending ballad)
Thank you for the intro to Rob Corcoran, the song Ringing that bell resonated with me. My Father was sent to an industrial school aged 6, he survived and passed on a great spirit to many people. I went to a Rob gig in London, the guy is a great talent. I have seen you many times and love your music, the sharing is special.
Glad to hear that Rob Corcoran’s gigs are going well..he deserves to be heard….
one of my favourite songs to sing is Shane McGowan’s “Aisling”
Some great lines and turns
ps Deborah Coleman…’Don’t Lie To Me’..youtube-giving slowhand a run for his money…tasty stuff
