Hi All. So when I met Ray Houghton in Dublin Airport on the way to the UK I felt it was a good omen !! The tour seemed to build its own dynamic culminating with two mighty gigs in the Royal Festival Hall….. the audiences were very different in each place,, ,,, in amazing venues,,,, all huge and full !! The songs were so varied , we heard several renditions of The Well with massive bodhran duets , and lots of Jimmy Mc Carthy,,,,and one very memorable rendition of Burning Times …,we heard many new songs from the forthcoming CD ,,,,and the reactions were so different,,,, certainly Oblivious got a very warm reception each time,,,, the Tuam Beat raised the energy everywhere… I think that Wallflower is such a powerful anthem,,, roll on 20th May. It was great to meet so many 4711ers,,,,, new and old friends….people who love to be at as many gigs as humanly possible. The cities on this tour were all a great pleasure to visit,,, not major urban conurbations, but towns with history and many places of interest and time to visit them. Fair play to the people who organised it all. Many thanks to Declan, Jimmy and Christy for sharing your gifts so generously and all the crew for their continued committment to such quality performances. Its been some year so far and yet so much more to look forward to !! Beir bua agus beannacht. H
Christy's reply
thanks for all your help..the zubes were mighty…twas a grand tight tour thanks be to the various agencies involved (management, agency, promoters)….after 50 years of traversing the maps its wonderful to find logic finally being utilised in the process of scheduling tours..no more Cork-Donegal-Tralee-Belfast on successive nights……O’Connell street full of Kingdom and Rossie fans today
Excitement is building in anticipation of the TV programme …..for you too I guess. Doors will be locked , phones switched off , curtains drawn and lights off…..neighbours will be ignored, children will go hungry and pets left unattended. Maybe a ‘directors cut’ will get released later.
The word is that the recent tour was probably the best so far ,. Vicar st is calling, hope to get there for wed gig .
Christy's reply
soon as the dust settles the dir cut will commence..lots of out-takes
Went to see you play Nenagh a few months back in the arts centre. Fantastic gig it was my 14th time seeing you play. I just saw a brilliant photo of you on social media 1978 you were being searched by the special branch. Brings back memories of home in South Armagh.
Keep ‘er lit Christy!
Christy's reply
that auld snap gets trotted out every few years….I often wonder what became of my “interrogator”. The picture was taken the day that Bobby Sands died..after a Moving Hearts soundcheck in The Baggot Inn, Eoghan O’Neill and I went to pay our respects at a vigil in Ballyfermot….in 1981 that was deemed to be a subversive act
Hows it going Christy? Wanted to thank you for ALL the music, especially “Where I Come From” Great stuff!! I play a lot of the tunes you made famous as I make a living in the pubs of the Tampa Bay area, and I give you credit every night! Making my way to Dublin for the first time, May 27th to June 7th, and it would be the highlight of my life to meet you in person! I have become friends with Derek Warfield(we actually book some bands together here and there), and meeting you (and David Crosby) would be the trifecta of this Boston kid’s life! (I stupidly missed your last gig at McGann’s in Boston as I was workin’ as well!!) At the least, I hope to get to see ya out playing somewhere! Have a brilliant weekend! Cheers!
Christy's reply
There will be a gig in Dublin on June 4th (soon to be announced( keep an eye on gig page
We (my sister, husband and I) are fans from you for a long, long time. We have seen a lot of your gigs in the Netherlands, sometimes even a few times a week. Our wish is to see a gig from you in your own country. We have booked a trip next week to Dublin, so we can go to Vicar Street for the concert on Wednesday april 13th. If it’s possible can you play for us Butterfly (so much wine) or Motherland. We are sure to enjoy your concert next week.
Greetings, Els, Nico and Lenie. Thanks for all your songs we enjoy so much.
Christy's reply
you will be very welcome ..I’m looking forward to Vicar St, one of my favourite venues…see you there…

Dear Christy
thanks for show last evening which was fantastic and although you didn’t play it I absolutely love “ships in the forest” and wonder if you would be good enough to let me know if I can find the chords anywhere?
I also think your words to “poitin” are so succinct!
Both bought tears to my eyes and for that Mr Moore I thank you from the bottom of my heart,

You were kind enough, Christy, to sing Shine on you Crazy Diamond at my request a few months at your homecoming in Newbridge. Of the hundreds of songs that you sing and sang over all the years, do you have a favourite?
Looking forward to seeing you again in the Landmark in Carrick on Shannon in two weeks. I’d be grateful if you might sing VERONICA or The Contender on the night, please.
Warmest Regards and admiration to yourself, Delan and crew.

Thanks for a fantastic evening at RFH last night!
Last saw you in Dungannon last June.
Thats twice now within the year.

Christy, Hope by now you are back on Home Soil and having a well deserved rest. nothing much happened since you left..Enda and the troops are still working on the mating game.
The mention of “Paddy on the Road” prompted me to pull the CD out of the collection and give it a spin again. Avondale got the nod today as my favorite…..next time it could be a different one. Ah the joy of listing to good Songs, different moods brings different favorites, and vice versa.
Ride on ,

good to be back in Bognia….Tee Kenny and Shock Martin refuse get to couple together despite the fact that its the will of The Nation….
Felt privileged to be in the front row last night at the RFH, sitting in front of the maestro Sinnott. I loved the new song about the centenary – reading David McWilliams latest article about wealth distribution in Ireland just reinforces the point that you make in the song. I fear anger is not on the horizon yet.
Thanks for another wonderful evening’s entertainment @ The RFH last night Christy. My third time seeing you in that venue and it really does lend itself to yourself and the lads talents. By the way I hope they give you a great night in my home town of Carrick-On-Shannon in a couple of weeks!
All the best
