Best wishes for 2016 Christy. Hope that you and the gang are enjoying the “rest” – though the thought of the recording in Co Clare is exciting. The gig there was a highlight – if not THE highlight – of my year. My thoughts are with all of those effected by the floods – we seem to have got off lightly in comparison up here. Please God they get their homes back soon. Hopefully we’ll cross paths along the way in the year ahead – keep doing what you do.
Best wishes for everybody who makes it’s possible to give us so many lovely evenings.
Yesterday we went to Antwerp to buy a new music installation, everything is so supersonic and high technological these days I can hardly follow. Radio listening is now by means of the internet and worldwide, no more antenna that can demolish.
Therefore the salesman asked if there was a radio station i wanted to listen to and so I say an Irish one. He was very surprised and asked me why because his girlfriend was Irish. So I told him about you and shame shame on him he had never heard of you. Seconds later you where singing all over the busiest street in Antwerp ! It was a real discovery for that guy and hopefully his girlfriend wasn’t to be to much punished that evening for not telling him about the most marvellous singer of her home country.
I don’t now why but I always meet people that are one way or the other connected to Ireland.
Anny way we will see you probably in Waterford this year.
All the best from Chris you PR woman in Belgium

Wally Page is back for first gig of year this Friday 8th January, The Annesley House, 70 North Strand Road, 9.30pm, along with his great band, he’ll knock out the great songs as usual.

hey Lar…good luck to you for 2016…hope you have a good one…great response to the High Hopes Choir…it was a great experience to meet ,sing, record and hang out with the members….the project was nurtured and nursed by Dave Brophy and the crew from Tyrone Productions but it was driven by the passion of the High Hopes Collective
beautiful Doc on Roy Orbison on BBC 4 the other night…well worth a gike if you can find it
Im in Clare just now.. we have gathered to try and record a new album…back at base in that room where have often gathered before…. the 4711ers gaggle ….the filming a few monthes back, Moving Hearts in 1981, Planxty in 2004, The Duke and Declan duetted here, Small Town Talk and Waldo did the gaggle here…the Q&A and all the various sessions….all that reverberating around the hall as we seek to continue adding songs to the list….
Hiya CM,
Thinking of John O’ Donoghoe today. Miss his quiet, gentle presence. How is the new music coming? The old tunes are keeping the brain happy for this short break before the foals start arriving. My favorite thing in the world, except a good gig or session! Stay warm.

After watching you with the High Hopes Choir, I didn’t think it was possible but, I am even prouder to say I am a Christy Moore fan, well done you. Looking forward to seeing you all in Mullingar, very best wishes for 2016.

I was very happy to play a small part alongside all of those who made this project happen……thanks, glad you saw it
It’s a New Year, it’s a New Day… Best wishes to all the good people reading here.
Lots of good tracks on the Tribute, hard one. At this time of morning here, favorite tracks would be Jamie Foyers by Dick Gaughan and The Terror Time by Karine Polwart.
Christy's reply
Karine’s tracks is my number 1 but Norma is not too far behind with Martin and Lisa vying for 3rd place on my turntable
Hi Christy.
Every good wish for 2016.”The January man is here the start of each and every year
Along the road forever”.
Hope you had a wonderful rest over the Holidays. The High Hopes Choir was just amazing; to see to joy and hope in their eyes was something to behold. You must have got some satisfaction from meeting and performing with them.
“The February man still shakes the snow from of his clothes and blows his hands”…and then the never ending tour continues…Yeees.
Ride On,

Another year nearly over. Thanks for all you do to lift our spirits and heal our hearts. It’s great what you have done with the High Hopes choir. I live in a place that has a lot of homeless people and the contrast between the attitudes here and those at home is like day and night. There are some people here who do good work for those down on their luck (and in the US there are many), but the vitriol towards the homeless that spews from many sources in this town is sickening. People are conditioned to think that all those on the streets are there because they are lazy or “haven’t pulled themselves up by their bootstraps” and so it serves them right. More attention is paid on the local news to dogs and animals than to human beings. (Americans are obsessed with dogs; they’re treated better than people.) It’s definitely not a country for the have-nots, the mentally ill, or the addicted.
I’ve been trying to watch the various High Hopes programmes on the RTE Player, but increasingly it seems that more shows are being restricted and “not allowed in your country”. I did see a wee bit of a clip of you and the choir on a public Facebook page singing “Fairytale” and a shot clip from the Claire Byrne show, but that’s it.
So, wishing you and your family a happy and healthy year in 2016. I’ll be home, please God, for the commemorations.
I’ll just attach this clip of a song I’m listening to as I write. This is from a few years ago, but I like this singer and he brought out a new album a few months ago that is good too. I’ve always pictured you singing at Austin City Limits.
My wife Linda and I are coming to see your show as part of our wedding anniversary celebration on May 6th. I was hooked on your music many years ago when I was at a pub in Drogheda and I heard your song the “Voyage” sung during a pub session. I am looking forward to returning to Dublin and hearing you sing your songs live! See you in May 2016
Hey christy iv been always wanting to ask u just this one question and i finally have the chance iv listend to ur music since a young lad and i love ur music but a id like to hear a song about waterford if ur uo to the test which im sure u would be.
I wish you a very healthy and happy 2016, with thanks to you and all on the never ending tour with you, for all you do and the amazing and brilliant music and gigs…best to come as the Duke would say. Did you find it unusual not being in and out of Thomas street for the December gigs? Looking forward to the latest chat..happy new year CM(70)….Larball
Christy's reply
In recent years we had to postpone a number of Christmas gigs,at times due to bad weather,at times through sickness….that, along with all the problems caused to those travelling long distances to the gigs, decided me to take a break from the Dec-Jan gigs….
Thanks for all the support and good juju across the year…all you 4711ers are a constant source of solidarity to the players and crew
Recently we did a gig in the Zaantheatre in Zaandam, north of Amsterdam. We performed the song “The Mad Lady & Me” from Jimmy McCarthy. I was looking through your posted setlists of recent years and couldn’t find the song so far. Is it a song for you that may re-appear in one of the coming concerts? It’s such a wonderful song. And a song that could be interpreted in a different way . The original version of Jimmy McCarthy and your approach on the 1989 Voyage album makes that clear to me. Would love to hear the story of this song form your perspective.
Here’s the link to the Tube, hope you enjoy it ! See you in 2016! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-zTgUe0pSh8

John…that is a wonderful rendition of Jimmy Mack’s fine song…..26 years since I recorded and, if memory serves, I think I gigged it once…..that happens sometimes with songs…Mystic Lipstick,China Waltz, America I love You, Among The Wicklow Hills,Dying Soldier,Los Desaperacidos,Bless this Guitar, songs I enjoyed recording but never managed to get into the live set……then there are other songs that I will spend months trying to master before deciding that I cannot do them justice….you certainly did a lovely version of “The Mad Lady and Me”
Thanks to Hilary for the shout out, just in time to enjoy the last hour on RTE1. Just loved the program, the insights, the focus, the honesty. I was just thinking that MacColl would be at peace and satisfied with the way you convey his work and legacy. The Tribute CD landed in the Bay, its a great job by all. x
