Hi Christy,
Winner all right…winner all right; Thanks very, much for the Tickets, really appreciate it.
Hope all is going well in the North West…a lovely part of the country to be in on this Autumn day.
We had Ray Lynam and the Hillbilles in the Well last night. Packed to the rafters…..brought back memories of the Rose Club many Moons ago.
Best wishes with the Album; I’m sure it will be up to the usual high standard.
Ride on.

Jasus Patsy I did’nt know I had such a device…I’ll make enquiries when the backroom staff return from weekend activities..I take a nap most afternoons, must try an app sometime
Christy, having listened to you all my life, I first got to see you live in the Royal Festival Hall in 2010 – where you were absolutely fantastic. Got the chance to meet you and Deccie with the Field Day cast after the Millennium Forum gig in Nov 2013. Last time you were in LK you played my request ‘faithful departed’ and last night ‘companerios’ and ‘Weekend that we spent in Amsterdam’! I was over the moon. Thanks! I think you would really enjoy playing at our An Grianan Theatre (not knocking the clanree at all – great venue!) but the acoustics and seating make for a better experience for all I’d say. Anyhow, can’t wait for your next visit! By the way I’m on the look out for someone to do an acoustic set at my wedding in Mt Errigal next June – if you’re about our Tidy Town and at a loose end 😉
Your energy and enthusiasm for entertaining is phenomenal and inspirational. Keep it up! Thanks again for last night. 10/10!

Congrats on your pending nuptials…. hope ye have a beautiful time…
we have long since being considered the pros and cons of Theatre Venues as distinct from Hotel Rooms… both types of venue vary enormously from town to town….we ponder carefully before committing to a venue…. the attitude of those who run and staff venues is more important then the venue itself…. we have a great team around our gig… we build our own stage then put in sound ,lighting, draping and organise seating…..we seek to adapt hotel function rooms into theatres (or as near as we can achieve) in many parts of the country our audience seem more relaxed in these rooms… BUT there are some great Theatres around..we have had lovely experiences recently in a number of Theatres, both State and Independent…Claremorris, Nenagh, Macroom, Carrick-on-Suir, Mountmellick,Tipperary to mention a few Independents…….
50 years ago I was playing in bars, small rooms over hotels, sheebeens, any where I could get the start…its all been good and I give thanks for the priviledge
Dear Christy, I really hope you don’t mind me posting here. I’m not sure how to contact you otherwise. I’m becoming a great fan of your work and my sister in law and niece sang ‘The Voyage’ at our wedding 11 years ago. In June I gave birth to my forth child at home and it was a truly magical experience with the while family involved. Dad filmed our sacred cord burning afterwards and I would love put The Voyage as music to the video. I’m writing to ask you for permission to use the video on You Tube to inspire others. Much love

Dear Jane…the song was written by Johnny Duhan over 30 years ago…..I was very fortunate that he sent it to me….I dont know what permissions might be required but Johnny controls the copyright of his song so permission is not mine to give….greetings to all songsters in dear old Donny…great memories of The Bay Horse in Bentley where I gigged many times over 40 years ago….it was one the best clubs on the circuit, the partys afterwards were legendary….
Congrats to Patsy,, sure you might even stretch the tickets over two gigs and make a weekend out of it ?,,, it sure was fun,,, Christy you could challenge our knowledge and memory more often !!! help keep us on our toes,, Its kinda appropriate that you are playing in Donegal tonight on the day Brian Friel, that other genius and brave writer passed away,,, he too had his finger on the pulse of the nation ,, he also wrote some great parts for women. In the 1970s a local drama group in Tralee put on the Freedom of the City, it was so powerful I went to it twice. It seems it was based on the actual occupation of the Guildhall by Brigid Bond and her children, in the name of civil rights. Brigid was later chairwoman of the Civil Rights movement on Bloody Sunday. That upstairs chamber in the Guildhall is some room,,,, it would indeed be awesome if you were ever able to play there Christy,,,but it may have too many connotations and memories of sad times for that to ever be possible. Brian Friel R.I.P.
His work has been ever-present in our lives these past 50 years. Like a mountain, a beautiful mountain forever there in the distance.Sometimes bathed by the Sun, other times behind cloud and mist until re-appearing once again to enhance our lives. Brian has moved on….the legacy remains….we will forever Dance at Lughnasa
It may have been a dream but ,in my mind,I once played at The Guildhall in Derry. Perhaps with Planxty over 40 years ago. I seem to recall stain glass windows, uniformed attendants, everything being upstairs (even the ground floor)…agh! it must have been a dream….
Hello dear Christy,
Hope you are well up in the Hills of Donegal. This weekend I’m day-dreaming of travelling about the Island … If you had not played Glengarriff (Heavens above, I don’t want to have missed that magic night!), we would have come to Letterkenny and lovely Sligo.
Time flies – another full moon was rising, this time we watched it over Black Forest – but memories still linger … It was a feast for the eyes to see Beara’s lush vegetation taking on the colours of autumn … the blooming heather … sweet ripe blackberries and still fuchsias and montbretias in abundance … a robin in front of the conservatory greeting us every morning – happy days!
All the miracles of nature were intensified by the beautiful music we experiencend at your brilliant concerts. Many thanks again!
There are so many traces and places in your motherland related to your songs … After we had left the red fuchsias at Bantry Bay we had a drink at Hamilton’s Rest, admired the excellent plaque for John “Jacko” Reilly in Boyle, walked the Hazelwood, sang the “Ballad of Ballinamore” in the car whilst driving through Leitrim and cruised around “Honda 50 County”, passed Robertstown and the Hill of Allen. At last we caught sight of the windmills at Carnsore Point (always a sad moment but lucky there is no nuclear power station) when we bid farewell to Ireland.
Best of Luck for the gigs and enjoy your stay between Knocknarea and Benbulben! Traudel

Greetings to you both. Ireland is blest to have such gentle and appreciative visitors. Céad Míle Fáilte don bheirt acu…..not many listeners express such depth of listening nor take to the back lanes and boreens to seek the source
I have great memories of your country too….arriving by boat into the centre of Hamburg in 1973…such an exciting time for us Planxty lads….the buzz at the Music Hall as Liam O’Flynn’s piped “The Gold Ring”…..Heidelberg, Bremen, trays of Appelkorn, eintopf in Gutersloh, Champion Jack Dupree playing with us in Cologne, Jimmy Faulkner and I in Stuttgart in 1978 (I still remember the notes he played on “The Lakes of Pontchartrain”), Walking across Hamburg’s Lake one Winter’s night and , years later, walking around it in Summer Sun with Paddy Doherty…..Greetings from Sligo to you both…
Welcome to the Hills, good to see the sun shining for your visit. I believe Letterkenny is the hometown of Mick Blake. Looking forward to the concert tonight.
Christy's reply
It was a great night in The Clanree…a fine room for a gig….Mick Blake sent word that his Father John would be in attendance so I was anxious to do justice to Mick’s great song…..thanks for the prompt on Packie’s book……what a Tidy Town….no sight nor sound of a boy racer…last time we visited they were like a plague about the place, their arses temptin the tarmac
Evening Christy. The first tune that came to mind was Luke Kelly’s version of Tommy Makems classic farewell to Carlingford. But I never remember your self singing it. Then I was thinking of Jack Doyle but that was probably too easy. So it looks like one of the experts has got it right with the Foxy Devil and I’d be lying if I said I know the tune but maybe after hear it again I will. Anyway for the sake of being in with a shout I’ll throw the foxy devil.
And I’ll sing fare well to Carlingford…..
Christy's reply
I was not too sure about the eligibilty of your entry..I had to check with the legal department (and the clerk of the course)…they decided that your entry was based entirely upon the entries of previous listeners which somewhat contravened the spirit of the quiz….however,I put your name in the hat anyway…but Patsy from Moate came up trumps
“You’re The Foxy Devil, you set my mind at ease and then you strike….despite misfortune I’ll take you as you are…the best of friends and enemies, the best I’ve known by far”

Hiya Christy, I am spending another great evening listening to your music, Bright Blue Rose, Viva la Quinta Brigada, it is magic what you and Declan do … and Mary Black as well, Song for Ireland, NoFrontiers.. I feel blessed knowing this freedom. thankyou from every part of my soul 🙂

I’ve been a fan since the first time my cousins living in Palmerstown took my husband and I to one of your concerts in Dublin at the Olympia Theatre back in ’89. I recently attended your concert in Carlow on Saturday Sept 19 with some friends that were enjoying their first trip to Ireland, not complete of course without a dose of Christy Moore. One of the songs you played was “Daddy Long Legs”, or “Dance in the Moon and the Flickering Light”, I’m not sure of the exact title as now I’m back home and looking at all my old CM cds and even searched iTunes, I can’t find the song. Could you please tell me which cd I might find that song, and how i can buy it?
ps: I was intrigued with the “Oblivious” song that was so rudely interrupted by a heckler. I hope you record it soon. Thanks, Maura
Christy's reply
Maura, that track “The Reel in The Flickering Light” was on the 1985 album Ordinary Man which is still available. It was written by Colm Gallagher and I heard him sing it in LA over 30 years ago. Colm came originally from Glasnevin .
I am in the process of recording “Oblivious” and it will be on the next album, hopefully, due for release next Spring. Still feel a bit embarrassed about my meltdown in Carlow..its been a while since I’ve been stopped in my tracks by a heckle..but he got me like he shot me !…best wishes to all Salt Lake Songsters
