Looking forward to seeing you tonight – although for us there will be some sadness too. Our beautiful daughter Caitlin passed away in 2013 (aged 11). She was brought up on your music, loving Ride On and This is the Day especially. Your music was a great comfort to us after she passed away.
Thank you

Thank you for sharing the memory of your Caitlín…..I will think of her tonight
Wet and miserable here in the Hills , wish we could be following some of the tour………but Derry is getting closer every day. Hope the big day went well . …
My dad used to tell me of an old man of 96 who lived with his son who was in his 70’s. One day a neighbour asked the auld fella how he was keeping. The old man replied he was doing fine ……but the young fella wasn’t in great shape !!!
Christy's reply
Morra Marty..heading for Bristol now…early start at 7.30….I’m very happy to have reached 70…our Da passed at 41 and neither Grandads made the 65….a week of Motorways and Hotels but with a brace of glorious gigs to make sense of it all..there are great listeners over here too…..see you back among the Hills
Christy, a huge fan of yours here from Down Under. Any chance of tour to the colony any time soon?
Christy's reply
its unlikely Matt but I simply cannot commit to saying never….I toured up there 5 times across the years and enjoyed the experience….last trip was circa ’97, since then I’ve limited by horizons to Ireland,UK and West Europe… all accessible by road and ferry….air travel no longer a consideration. But who knows what way the wind is gonna blow….some singers cant be kept out of the air, forever jetting hither ‘n thither…I may rejoin the ranks of the unsettled troubadours
Hi Christy
Just seen your concert at the Great Northern advertised. Got two tickets. haven’t seen you for ages. ex beggarman.only five left now. See you 17th July
Christy's reply
Hey Terry….great to hear from you….I still recall the Crown & Anchor back of Picadilly every Thu night all those years ago…what a Band ye were..I heard of Eamon’s passing..glad to hear that there are 5 left..I still bump into Gerry occasionally…he still insists upon telling nothing but the truth…see you in “beautiful” Bundoran
having seen christy loads of times before, but always in the land of the quare hawks, i came over to stay with the kinane’s of cashel to come to see christy play in cashel a few weeks ago.
it was ,as ever, a great set. whilst i have signed up for newcastle and the barrowlands later in the year, coming to see christy play in his native land was a highlight of my life of gigging. i just wanted to say thank you christy. all our dozens of trips and holidays to ireland now meant even more to hear you play in your back yard, your music means so much to us in scotland.am now
just listening to giuseppe, 35 years on, we cannot forget. rory
Christy's reply
good man Rory…thanks for feedback and good juju….Clonmel is an old stomping ground of mine..learnt a few tricks back in The Vale of Honey all those years ago see you later by Tyne and Clyde
So Russell said have compassion. I’m going with that. He’s returning to his mansion and his comedy. I think he will be just fine. FYI Bristol is blue, Cambridge is blue, (apart from the middle bit) and Basingstoke is so blue it’s actually suffering from hypothermia. We will toast Blighty so. Have a great visit. See you in a bit. Xx
Christy's reply
you are quite right there Anuk..whoever picks these towns would appear to have a hidden agenda… a tour of Tory hinterlands, well spotted… just off the boat and tearing down the old M6..fair play to McAlpine
Hi Christy, happy belated birthday. Great to see you back on the road again. What a joy it is to all your many friends around to the world … long may you continue. Just a note to let you know that Michael Kennedy, a brilliant singer song writer from Victoria, passed away some 12 months ago. God rest his soul. Moxie’s sound great … loved their video. Love the chats always great to hear what you are up to. Has it crossed your mind to release a CD with the Trad lads you have been playing with? Even a live recording would suffice? All the best for now.
Christy's reply
sorry to hear of Michael Kennedy’s passing…I did encounter his work in my travels….I hope to mark the current work with the Trad Outfit with an album…live performance takes priority these times …if you try 4711ers.org some kind soul might share a gig recording with you..the Spanish Point gig was a belter
hi christy,
recently i have became entirely encapsulated by faithful departed. its lyrics are deep and well-honed, however i still cant fully understand the song, even after listening to it at least a thousand times in the last week. its a real gem. i know a fair bit about phil chevron and your musical relationship with him both solo and with planxty, but no where can i find a clear meaning or story behind this song or what its telling us as listeners, maybe you could shed some light into it and give your perspective. thank you christy!
Christy's reply
Philip was a true wordsmith..he spent his life immersed in lyrics and melody…if you are “entirely encapsulated” I suggest you stick with that and trust your own interpretation….I hear a stream of consciousness, I see an abstract movie, there is no simple interpretation…seems to me like you got it nailed already….the auld poetry in paralysis
Happy belated birthday, Christy. Hope you’re fully recovered and enjoy doing gigs again. Why not considering gigs in Germany again? It’s quite a few years, since you were here last and decades since you’ve been in Bonn. Craving…
Best wishes
Margret

maybe 20 years since I walked by the River in Bonn which was bathed in startling moonlight…I recall a Glass venue, a Sunday evening and then supper with an ancient lady of Cumann na mBan, a school friend of my Mother..both long since gone to The Hill of Tara….it would be good to return to The Rhine someday….
You’ll be welcome in Bristol this weekend Christy, and we’re looking forward to seeing you play. I’m sure you get a million requests…..but if there was a dedication going spare on Sunday and found its way towards this fine man….. http://sgeulnagaidhlig.ac.uk/professor-cathair-o-dochartaigh/?lang=en
Lyrics and music – including your own – were able to keep the spark even after most memories, recognition and speech had departed. Keep up the fine work.

we’ll do our best to remember Cathair Ó Dochartaigh…..”where the Red Fuchia weeps and The Angels bleed over Bantry Bay “( Spillane)

My wife and I saw you last time you came to Warwick. A brilliant show. In that show you sang Nancy Spain. That song has become my wife’s favourite. On her ITunes playlist she has played it more than all the other songs put together. If you get the chance do sing it again on Monday night. Her name is Jenny. It will make her night .
Christy's reply
I hope that Nancy turns up on the night…she only comes out when the air is right and the breeze is kind
It was so nice to listen to Kieran’s birthday tribute to you accompanied by Lar on the radio – what a wonderful journey you have traveled – wishing you many more fun and interesting days. You’ve certainly done well.
Christy's reply
they certainly were most generous and fulsome…a right pair of Magnums….greetings to New York listeners
Hi Christy – Looking forward very much to a weekend away from home and, even more so, to a great concert on Monday evening. It will be so good to see you playing a smallish venue rather than the Festival Hall where we would normally get to. Would love you to sing either Ride On or Easter Snow if you can fit it onto your playlist please. Best wishes in this your 71st year (you’re two months younger than my dear husband of 45 years). We still love the live music!
Christy's reply
just packing the bags one more time to sail for Holyhead…hope you have a good trip to Warwick…be warned, it can be difficult to navigate into The Campus
Hi, Christy, we’re five friends from La Spezia, Italy. We love your music and for the first time we’ll come to see your gig in Llandudno the 17 May. We’re very excited. We have choosen llandudno because one uf us, Sylvia has an uncle in abergele… The other two friends, Andrea and Laura have a band called “The tullamores” and usually play a lot of your song: ride on, nancy spain, back home in derry, viva la quinta brigada… So, see you in Llandudno, thank you and happy birthday!
Christy's reply
bring a bit of Italian Sunshine to the shores of North Wales…you bring the Sunshine and we will bring the songs..always guaranteed a good welcome in Llandudno
So it appears five more years of shite. The SNP stuffed Labour, believing that the Nationalist view will one day give them power and independence. Which must be a deliciously tempting pursuit. The Lib Dem voter thought he couldnt cope with Labour so chose aspiration over decency and fancied himself upper middle class. Remember Maggie: there’s no me in society. Are we headed back to the dark days of her tyranny? Is it me or am I too old and have lost stomach for the fight? New boss same as the old boss? I hope your birthday was fab. Xx
Christy's reply
where does it all leave Russell….had a grand day….see you along the way
Day of birth to a marvellous soul! Dublin eh? That made me smile, no wonder ‘they’ don’t trust ye ; ) Was born in Loughtontown hospital myself, geographically neither here nor there, the suburbs were an experiment… But it’s also a famine grave yard there, I guess life relies on death and we’re all born onto a graveyard of some sort… Was sent on yer 70th radio show here while I’m watching the votes come in across the foam… I should know better than to care about the puppets, but I do… Yer a giant. Stride on…
Hi Christy I’m sorry I couldn’t make your concert in Killarney a few weeks ago. The first time in years to have missed it but I heard it was a great night. Hope your back again next year. A Very Happy Birthday Christy and I hope you had a great day. Mike Kelly.
