Hi Christy
What a wonderful finish to the Ballad Hall run — you had us all hopping from the very first chord. You mentioned on Monday that there’s a world of difference between a Monday audience and a Saturday one, and that was certainly evident tonight.
Not sure if word reached you, but between the young listeners and the slightly older faithful, there was a new “first” in the room… a hen party in full flight.
Might be no harm to have a quiet word with Joxer — there could be a song in that yet.
Best Regards,
Ride on.

My girlfriend is going to see you tomorrow night with her dad and brother. It’s the first time they’ve all gone on the same night – they are celebrating her Dad’s 60th. She told me that recently she and her Dad were out walking in the woods and heard a cuckoos call. This prompted him to sing “Lawless” for her. I know they would both really appreciate it if you could please sing it in the Concert Hall for Anthony’s 60th. He’s been a fan for many years and I know it would be special for you to sing it for them both.
Thanks very much,
From a fellow Kildare man,

“Lawless” was written by Mick Curry..I heard him sing it one night in The Ferryman over 30 years ago….I was smitten…Mick generously shared his song with me…
I stopped singing it for years because of one word…..it dawned on me this year that I could exclude that word….I’ll try and sing it tonight in The National Ballad Hall….it has such a visual beginning, such a lonesme ending…
Very excited to see you with my Dad, boyfriend and brother in the the Concert Hall this weekend. Always grew up with Dad playing your music but have become a fast and firm fan myself since seeing you in Vicar Street. Would love to hear Magdalene Laundries as it’s your first song I heard that really stuck out to me and I would love to hear it live.

Very lucky to be in the position to be bringing our granda Jack to see you this coming Saturday in the concert hall.
This man played in show bands, taught us guitar and gave me a love for music. I remember him playing “don’t forget your shovel” for us grandkids when I was still in nappys. Feels great to get to share that together Saturday evening. He’s the big 80 this year so it only seemed right to take him along. He’s still rocking away as well.
Music is amazing how it connects us no matter the age – I’m 26 and he’s 80 and the two of us equally have a grá for your music that is shared through a smile and a song. So thanks for that.
Looking forward to Saturday.
Thanks for the music, keep on rockin!
