our Gipp knows his stuff when it comes to the back catalogue..I put that line up confident that it might passed unnoticed, but the Gippmeister was in like a shot….thing is Gipp..this line was a parody on Barney Rushe’s line which ran “we all drew up our plan”
top marks to CJ…..here’s one
Hi Christy,
You have reworked some fine songs over the years.
I wonder if the great Kevin Rowland’s re shaping of this is up there as a favourite of many, it certainly touches a chord that the song never had before for me.
some chanter is Kevin
stylish too, tasty clobber,
he did a bangin version of Curragh of Kildare a few years back
also good podcast chat with yer man James O’Brien a while back
Christy following your comment that ‘some lines simply linger’ how about a bit of weekend fun? Can any guestbook visitors quote a single line from any song (excluding the chorus) that immediately identifies that song? I’ll go first with “Life is what happens to you, whilst you’re busy making other plans”??
Dylan 85… Fair play…as I head to the Bob box to pick an album.hmmm..where to start?
Have a good day

Hi Christy, thank you for your kind and motivating answer!
My mood got better soon afterwards as I had the privilege to enjoy your younger brother’s beautiful gig in Cologne on Thursday. Music is great cure for many issues 👍. I really like the church Luka played in and enjoyed his impressive guitar playing and the songs. He fondly mentioned your mother who used to apply 4711 when going out and here we are with the 4711ers 😃.
After the gig two people asked me if I had been in Vicar St in March. They had seen me there and recognised me. A nice chat about your and Luka’s gigs followed. What a small world we live in.
Enjoy the Tullamore gig!
Birgit
Hey Christy, I hope alls well with you. Belated happy birthday, funny I was visiting my uncle in New Jersey for his 93rd birthday on the 8th and I told him it was yours the day before. He asked how old you are and when I said 81 he laughed and said sure he’s only a young fella. Anyway we all share the same birthday month mine next week on the 30th and I’ll be with you at the NCH, so looking forward to the gig it’s been awhile since the marquee last year. I remember the no audience gig you did there during the COVID mad times for sure. Anyway be well Christy and I’ll see you at the NCH.
Dear christy, I found your name in the database of Plant een Olijfboom. Your tree is planted by Iyad Hassan Dhiab Abu Zeitoun in Zububa (Jenin).
You can take a look at the website yourself http://www.planteenolijfboom.nl You then click on “mijn boom”, you ask “all” and mention “Christy Moore” and Search.
Let’s hope your tree can grow in peace.

Brilliant to read and listen to Wally…and thanks to Lar for his work with him and making it so accessible.
It’s really special when a revered artist goes above and beyond….almost two years ago,I arranged to meet Peggy Seeger and her son,Calum for a chat and photos, before an outdoor festival gig at Salford Quays. Their sound check was c 8 30 am and gig c 11 00 am.
Calum had a few tech things to sort,so Peggy and I walked slowly to the foyer cafe of their hotel. Our speed was determined by Peggy’s slow pace. Every few yards she stopped to refer to things that jogged her memory. Back to the days of the Salford docks and the ‘ dirty old town’ early days of her time with Ewan. The chat was easy,as we’re the photos.
Grateful thanks for the likes of Wally and Peggy et al.generously sharing talent and life’s experience with a wide audience.
Thanks
Dave

Great memories of Wally! What a talent, and a loss to Irish music. I remember playing a few warm up tunes for one of his Annesley House gigs and he took the time afterwards to talk to me and tell me how mush he enjoyed my singing. I still have his setlist that he signed for me that night.
Later he was kind enough to have a listen to my song about Gougane Barra, and he was very helpful and encouraging. He really was such a gentleman.
I sing his songs often and remember him when I play. Thanks Wally
I’ve included another couple from that great weekend of recording in Kilternan it was…lovely memories of a very relaxed Wally and band. It was probably the best I’ve seen them all play together….all songs rehearsed to a finish and played beautifully. I think fourteen songs in total…I remember sitting with Wally in North Starnd as he wanted to make a list of songs..picking ‘the big ones’. He wanted it just right for the videoing of them ll….and they were. I hadn’t got a car at the time and Wal wasn’t overly fond of driving, particularly after dark..so I took Wal’s car, picked him up every day along with Tom on BVs…and a not to early start, up the winding road to Darrens house and studio….but over three days they got the results…the welcome he received was fab and every day after the recording it was out the back for a BBQ…loved a grill trout or prawns…just good memories as I’m writing. The weather was beautiful, the garden was large and a lot of lying on the grass while in between songs and even a frisbee was played with. There was strong tea and scones too…and a nice timid Husky dog..These were filmed as part of a series called The Stable Sessions. I did interviews with other guests that were included on their DVD releases ( I made sure I wasn’t seen on camera..ha) Johnny McEvoy, Shay Healy, George Murphy and a couple others over a few months. Never got around to recording the chat with Wally for inclusion on that DVD set, but thankfully we did do something by way of a podcast recording thats about an hour long that I cherish dearly….there’s another paragraph in that, but another day maybe…great days, better memories and still think of him very often and that’s a good thing…I’ve included here ‘Biko Drum’ and ‘Baby’s In Blue’.
