hoping to play some Kraftwerk and Toten Hosen tonight …..
Really looking forward to seeing you tonight in Vicar St. I’m taking my parents because we’re all big fans of yours, my mother is a sister of Raymond McCreesh, one of the 10 hunger strikers in 1981 who was always a big fan after the support you gave them during that tough period.
If you could sing a song with a shout out to Teresa McClelland (nee McCreesh) it would be really appreciated.

Have a great gig…I’ll be there in spirit while watching the Liam doc, mind wandering to bygone, happy times.
Via Archie Fisher’s superb ‘Reynardine’,I spent a fair bit of the week in the company of various Fishers…also, remembering Ray RIP and her LP ‘Bonnie Birdie’ with members of Steeleye playing acoustically…
Ever tackled ‘Reynardine’? I’ve always loved the old ballad, but never thought of playing a version…odd how that sometimes works out…
Hello Christy,
First man with a guitar in Miltown Malbay! You sure started something with that old bull fiddle. There’s a beautiful black lump of guitar sitting beside me right now. I twiddled the fingering of my b minor chord yesterday. It’s less of a bowl of spaghetti now.
The session was fab yesterday afternoon. Blackie O’Connell on pipes with a fine fiddler beside him. The dozen or so of them making such a sound to warm the cockles. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/186fejPXKf/
We saw the Liam documentary too last night. We’ve been well treated this last week. Lovely to put some faces to names.
And now it’s off to Dublin, there was a pink and orange sky this morning. If all goes well we’ll be on Table 17. Second row of tables in the middle, with bells on!

Hello Christy,
Hope things are good with you, and all on the guestbook.
Great day yesterday. Steve has been getting to know Christy McNamara via email since he bought one of his photographs for me. The three of us met up last night for a curry and then on to a session. Lots of talking and listening while the piper piped and the fiddler fiddled. We’re off to another session this afternoon at Ciaran’s bar in Ennis. Compared notes on guitaring. Got to see lots of new photographs for his forthcoming book.
He said he’s hoping to get to one of your gigs soon. https://www.christymcnamara.com/

sounds like You & Steve are having a rare auld time in The Banner…I spent 6 months there back in 1964/5. I worked in Tulla, Ennis, Ennistymon and Miltown-Malbay….also did two visits to Lisdoonvarna with The National Bank Sub-Office which travelled out from The Ennistymon Branch (I think) once a week….during those months I had the good fortune to meet many legendary musicians….Willie Clancy, Paddy Canny, Micho Russell, Junior Crehan,Vincent Griffin, Martin Rochford….back then the music “scene” was low key….I recall travelling from Tulla to Miltown Malbay on Monday nights to hear Willie play in Hennessy’s pub…thats when he asked me to sing “Liverpool Lou” and played the pipes behind me….I heard “Spancilhill” in John Minogue’s Hotel, heard “Scariff Martyrs” in Tulla and vamped The Graf Spee with Paddy Canny…years later I got a great accolade from Maisie Friel who called for silence and introduced me as “the first man ever to bring a guitar into Miltown Malbay” I cannot vow for the veracity of Maisie’s words….nor am I sure they were meant as an accolade ( but I got on very well with Maisie)….many would say different …and more Powers to them
Christy, another brilliant Vicar St tour. I’m going to your tour 25 years now and it gets better each time. I’m looking forward to the National Concert Hall, I haven’t been there since a school trip in the 90s. Shine on, Mero

Dear Christy thank you for a most exceptional evening at Vicar Street. My joys were fully doubled because Millie was there to hear testimony of what I’ve been banging on about for the 28 years of her life.
Heartening to be amongst 4711ers on this journey. Keep playing a blinder for as long as the inclination takes you. I continue to be inclined towards the music. Regards to yourself and all the lads. Head up back of the net. X
