Dear Christy, King Puck is indeed a brilliant album and the tune ‘king puck’ is a wonderful toe tapper, like the much missed ‘edinburgh set’.
Now all that talk of fish makes me crave a deep fried Fish Supper ( ie fish and chips) , brown sauce and lots of salt, but who among ye favours instead, breaded fish, a lemon wedge, red sauce, mayo, vinegar (hill) or a pickled egg?
Yours salivating
Rory
Christy's reply
Here I am Rory, just waking up, drapes not yet drawn, porridge beckoning, now you have me thinking ahead to evening, maybe I’ll take a ramble down to the fishmongers, see what he’s caught this morning…
I’m thinking of Jim the Fish in Hull….( Mike Waterson wrote a beautiful ode to Jim)..I’m thinking of Arbroath, Robin Hood Bay, Killybegs, Castletownbere, Dingle….the “Shoals of Herring,” “Off to Sea Once More”, ” Chicken on a Raft”
Right now I’m in florida. but my heart is still back in easkey,, I do get around.
Christy's reply
Played in Easkey once with Planxty….back in 1972….a Sunday night in the Dance Hall….we were booked as the “relief”Band for Sean Thompson & The Everglades. Not one single patron paid the slightest heed to our 20 minute set.We died an awful death. The Band almost broke up that night but, thankfully, fortune prevailed.Within months we played a concert in Sligo town with Pumpkinhead and began recording our first album.
Wish you well in Florida Marty.
The podcast of myself and Christy’s chat ( The Green Wave, Davie Furey in conversation with Christy Moore) is available now on Spotify, Apple etc. Thank you for all the kind comments and of course to Christy for sharing his songs.
Warm Wishes, Davie x

We got there in the end Davie…..on we go, towards a brighter future
If we ban all pronouns apart from we, because they are so offensive to all beings, living, dead or otherwise, we could really be taking the p_ss.
Maybe p_ss should be the only official pronoun.
According to BBC radio 4 we shouldn’t be saying fishermen anymore, it’s ‘fisherpeople’.
16 fisherpeople raving!

I object to the term BBC .As all reasonable know, it,she,we,he,they should call her, him, they, the ESWNIBC….(the latter only for the time being)

Christy's reply
I always assumed I was corresponding with a man in Sligo….but your Fahrenheit 75 tells me otherwaise….is there an Easkey in the tropics ?
Hello Christy,

Great that you’re enjoying the electronic diversions – the 25 minute doc ‘The Delian Mode’ is some of the best film making, I’ve seen in awhile…gotta love the diversions in life… DD was a star…

What a brilliant Woman
Anyone familiar with ‘Dr Who’, will know (and hopefully, enjoy) the iconic theme tune- written by a creative maverick, Delia Derbyshire (via BBC Radiophonic workshop),
I’ve read about her life and work ,but also found a good mix on youtube. I know you’re open minded in approaching music and sound textures, so thought I’d post about DD in the hope that you/companeros here, will get chance to listen to some unusual sounds. Her back story is fascinating (and a role model for creative women ).There’s also a ‘DD Day’, but the website is kaput at present.
Well worth visiting the internet rabbit warren in search of some fascinating sounds – and an influential creator. Enjoy the day.
Dave

I’ve seldom watched Dr Who but the moment I read your post I could hear the theme music bright and clear….a sound of innovation…I’m just gonna pop over to the toob for a brief visit… you are a source of temptation here Daithi, forever dangling detours

Delia has whetted my curiousity..gonna head back for a longer visit later
Maidin mhaith a Christy,
Fair play to the Abbey and their GAA partners for giving voice to the victims of Bloody Sunday 100 years on. And fair play to you for adapting your powerful song Minds Closed Shut 1920/1972. Great to see Tipp players wearing their counterparts jerseys to honour those killed. And, a century on from Bloody Sunday, the same four teams have emerged out of their Provinces. Saw a video clip, some time back of you singing in Casement. You mentioned singing in the Greenan Lodge afterwards. Back in the day it was one of the few places where we could let our hair down. I live around the corner from it is now and it’s called the Balmoral Hotel. That said we still refer to it as the Greenan! Go well, Mary.
Christy's reply
I did not realise that the Greenan was still standing…. did a few gigs there way way back…

Hi Christy
As so often, playing Nick Drake – today is the 46th anniversary of his death aged 27… Gone, but never forgotten – a short life – a long legacy.
All the best
Dave
Just finished reading John Martyn’s book….Nick’s tragic departure described among the troubled pages….
Hi all, Christy.
Listened to King Puck last night, what a great body of work.
What will happen to ‘Fishermans Friend’ throat lozenges? Just saying, some crazy stuff going on.
We got bigger problems just now.
Everyone stay safe!!! Regards, Bryan.

If it was fisher people they wouldn’t have to come to shore to do the raving. There’d also be much less fishing going on. Fishing less people?

That’s really different. That steam train has led me down a single track. I need to widen my ears 😊. Thankyou
different maybe but the Chugga Chugga still has its part to play…it provides the essential heartbeat over which the nimble fingered cavort and flow
