It may be a few days late but I couldn’t let the opportunity pass to say thank you for a fantastic night in the Riverside Park Hotel last Friday – after each gig we think it can’t get much better and then we are treated to yet another powerful and magical performance, leaving us buzzing for more! If I never saw anyone else live in concert it wouldn’t upset me but if Christy, Declan & Co. are in town, we will be among the first lining up for tickets! Safe travels and keep on sharing your amazing talent.

Heading over to Carrick on Shannon for the gig on 12th April. Bringing my somewhat “mature” parents along for the craic. Can you put an eldery ladies mind at ease and let us know if Landmark Hotel show will be all seating? At early 70’s I don’t think they could handle a couple of hours standing.
Also, it’ll bring back fine memories of 2018 show in Glasgow where you sang The Voyage for them on the occasion of their 47th wedding anniversary.

I remember Fr McNally very clearly.. I served his mass frequently as a young altar boy….what I remember most is Oct 8th 1956..it was Fr McNally who came into our school to tell me that my father had died…
I also served some weddings he officiated and some funerals he blest..it was a large part of my life way back then…Fr Miller, Fr McNally and Fr Gorman were very high profile men in the Town,
Singing for two hours is a great pleasure for me…beside me I have great musicians, in front of me I have a room full of listeners who know and want to hear the songs, behind me I have a dedicated road crew who do all in their power to prepare every aspect of the concert….tis a pleasure and a priviledge…the two hours zip along for me…
By jasus Christy al not be running about full flight on the Arthur j!! A few pints of the finest stuff after the gig will do no harm, plus that’s all I will be aloud, the mrs is 6 months pregnant, so anymore than a couple and it’ll be a clip round the ear for me. Plus, il be up early to drive back home for 10 o clock mass Sunday morning.. only joking, celtic rangers kick off at 12 next day 🍀 can’t wait for the gig.

Hi Christy I’m the son of an Irish born mother 1924 Tipp Town to be exact. She was a Dowling and I think my grandad was from the Naas area C1900. What is the chance we are from the same clan?

Distant cousins perhaps…my Dowling kin were in Barronstown going way back, its quite a common name around Miltown but go back far enough and you’ll find the man and woman who got our ball rolling….Barronstown would be about 8 miles (across the bogs and fields) from Naas…

We were all diving into the music and sailing away with you for more than two hours… “North and South…”, “Beeswing”, “Fairy Tale of New York”, and the encore version of “The Weekend that we spent in Amsterdam” (fair play to Declan 😉 were highlights in a wonderful concert. Special thanks for playing “Reel in the Flickering Light”. That was indeed like meeting an old friend, as you said…

Maith an Fear a Dietmar….and fair play to you for flying the German Flag upon the green fields of Uí Fáile ….last nights affair in Tulach Mór was indeed a pleasure….I love our Saturday Night Gigs in the Ballrooms of Romance….the waft of Perfume and After-Shave as we take the stage….the expectancy, the curiosity, the opening verses as we accustom ourselves…players and singers and listeners…newcomers trying to figure out what its all about… early furtive chorus soon turning to full throated participation as caution is thrown to the wind…such was the enthusiasm of one woman last night that I had to pull up mid verse..she was moving so far ahead of the lyric that I thought I was at her gig ( maybe I was !)
Your “Flickering” call out was totally appropriate…..see you in that authentic Irisch pub down Gooter Strasse

Great gig last night Christy I really enjoyed it loved the new version of welcome to the cabaret.Great to hear songs i didnt hear for a while like on Morcame bay and a stich in time Declan was brilliant on no time for love it was fantastic. Great to hear Mcilhatton which one of my favourite songs and its always a pleasure to hear you sing They never came home. So thanks to yourself, Declan and Jimmy for a great night and I hope to see you back in Wexford again soon.

Its a magic old town this….always a pleasure to play in ‘Scorthy….have the bit of Wexford in my veins as my great Grandfather John Power left Oylgate in the mid to late 19th century and went on to settle in Hayestown near Yellow Furze in the County Meath…(coincidentally his Son Jack gets a mention in the previous post here)…
last night cammy, el gran senor and i crowded round the old kildare kitchen table to watch cctv footage from the scottish borders as our fabulous mare xpectations foaled her mahler foal ,half brother to jezza, several cork dry gins and guinness later (washed down with the barry’s tea for good measure) , we have decided that there really is only one stable name for this handsome fella with the big ears and the long legs who will be roared home at Punchestown in 5 years . welcome to the world ‘Joxer’ , a fine looking handsome colt, now we will be looking for a racecourse in stuttgart first.

We’ll all go to Punchestown when Joxer comes under starters orders….I still follow the “jumps” from a safe distance..not been racing for manys the year…still have a soft spot for ( nearly) all to do with that great sporting world…
My first awakening was a photo of Workman taken in Ardmulchan, Yellow Furze,County Meath where my Grandfather Jack Power worked in the 30’s and 40’s.Thats where my Mother grew up.Jack worked for Sir Alexander Maguire who owned Workman.The trainer was Jack Ruttle and the Jockey was Timmy Hide. AS a child I remember pictures of the great Horse. In particular one photo of our Mother Nancy astride Wrkman in the yard at Ardmulchan…..I also recall two Horses, Gentle Moya and Carantrilla from boyhood days…
back then we went to Punchestown every year, we’d cycle from Newbridge across past Baroda stud and Two-Mile-House with neither a care in the world nor a bob in the pocket….
just about to depart Enniscorthy now and make our way over to Tullamore where yet another gig will come under starters orders in 9 hours time….we have strings to change, stage to set, lights to focus, sounds to tweak, silks to unruffle, girth belts to tighten….come 8 bells we’ll line up and make our way furtively, excitedly towards the start, when the white flag is raised we’ll dig our heels in and “They’re Off” will resound to roars from the gathered throng…..have a good day

Just since maybe you asked my actual name. It is Charles Andrew Robinson. My grandfather was Andrew Robinson from Lisnaksea. On my mothers side it’s Carroll of William Carroll 1851 to July 1933 from county Tyrone. Ok, that aside this sharing again, maybe only to bore your audience, maybe due to my sorry ass ego. a Carrol from Lisnaskea no less….an old friend once hailed from that very place…he always attached great import upon the pronunciation of last four letters of Lisnaskea….whether sounded “Ski” or “Ska” or “Skay”
