I have a significant birthday coming up (60th) and my and my wife are heading to Ennis to celebrate. Are you planning any gigs in December, it would be great to see you perform again.
A dream come true seeing you in Galway at Leisureland! Your energy and enthusiasm, as well as your wit are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us! Even able to FaceTime with our daughter during Ride On per her request! I’m hoping we get to see you again. God Bless, from Upstate NY! ☘️
Greetings from the antipodes, Christy. My wife Barbara and I are finally back home after travelling to see you in Ballybunion in July. Our sincere thanks to you and your band for a wonderful live collection of your songs in a delightful intimate theatre.
We spent a month in beautiful little Graiguenamanagh and our stay was soundtracked with On the Road.
I was intrigued to learn whilst we were in your country that Go Move Shift was written by the great Ewen McColl. It just shows how a powerful lyric can transcend time and place and I find it so fresh and moving each time you sing it.
I have even added it to the little shows that I do weekly here in Newcastle.
Finally, I do have to salute your common sense in not touring down here anymore. As much as we miss you, the jet lag destroys this old bloke every time I return down here!
All the best and we will be back to see you in 2019.
Christy's reply
My worst jet-lag experiences always revolved around returning from Australia. It would take a month for my sleep pattern to settle.

At last, a fitting County ground for the Lily Whites…having won two All-Ireland Titles in the last year this is good news indeed for all players and followers…I’ve been in touch with the Papal Nuncio who will pull out all the stops to get Frank to attend the opening of our new “Pitch”..I’d like at this point to suggest that the Pitch be re-named Johnny Doyle Park..or Nuxer Buckley Park..or Soss Dowling Park…if none of these suggestions work lets throw caution to the wind and call it Naomi Cambell Park (with her non-stop in and out of Newbridge Silver)….some of them Cutlers must be half demented trying to keep their eyes down on their knives and forks….I’ve never met any of the Jewellers but grew up with the Cutlers..(no one ever sang “Graceful Swallow” as beautifully as Mickser Reid)
Hi there Christy
Been a rare couple of weeks. Was at the fabulous Cropredy festival weekend last. The Fairporters put on a fantastic weekend of music and Bon Amie. The beautiful Kate Rusby was enchanting and I wasn’t disappointed, this being the first time I had seen her live.
However, things didn’t go all my way. Had a few aches and pains over the weekend. Sure I knew what it was but chose to be an idiot and doing nothing about it. Even sat there on the Saturday afternoon with my friends saying ‘ Jesus, this pain down my arms must be what a fecking heart attack feels like’.
Yeah you got it.. Tuesday afternoon the pains starting again and my wife insists we are off to the hospital.
Seems I was having a series of small heart attacks all weekend at the festival.
Now lying here in hospital listening to a few of your tunes, I’m feeling very lucky. Waiting for an Angiogram and hopefully home in a week or so..
Life is fragile but the music and songs of all the troubadours such as yourself put us in a safe place,if only for a fleeting moment..
Should be fit and well in a few months to catch a gig and with the money I save cutting out the fags I might buy myself a new guitar.
Keep on keeping on.
Best wishes Frankie
Christy's reply
Morra Frankie,
Hope you are having a good day and gaining full recovery…
my own heart attack was 30 years ago….a severe wake up call ..I believe that event saved my life..gave me a second chance, changed my priorities, gave me a greater appreciation of life itself..
smoking, drugs and heavy drinking took me to the brink….
I wish you the very best in your recovery..
The angiogram is a very simple process…you’ll be feeling brand new after a good service on the motor
Hi Christy, As always I’m coming along to see you in Dreamland in November but I was just wondering if you are doing any dates in early January? I know you normally play Dublin in January, it’s My50th Birthday in early January so I thought my wife could treat me to a wee visit to Dublin or anywhere else you are playing. I came over to see you play with Planxty in late 2004.
Keep on strumming!!!
Cheers,

Christy,
It was great to finally get to see you perform live. I pretty much grew up listening to you in the background thanks to my father so it was great to bring him along to the gig out in Salthill on Saturday.
I play a number of your songs on guitar so it was great to see it done right!
The rest of the “band” was great and really got the crowd going, hope you’re in good health and hopefully see you again somewhere on the road!

I believe that (but I may be wrong ) the jig is Cúil Aodha Jig and the other is called Mc Ginley’s Reel.I really think that was just dynamite ,ye were really “Suckin Diesel” big time. You guys were in top form.
Amazing how sometimes different tunes can have different names baptized on them . For example the “New Mown meadow” is called “Joe Máire Mhicilín” around here . Apparently that’s the lad who would play it all the time.
After the game yesterday I called for” tea ,toast and muffins and a pair of hard boiled eggs to calm my nerves”. Then I haltered up the two oblivious donkeys and went for a LONG walk in the mist , mud and rain.

Some years back I was in a quiet snug….I overheard a discussion about the title of a reel, of its origin and source…5 entirely different titles were revealed each one as valid as the others…the tunes travel easily…away to Willesden Junction, The Bronx or far away to Auckland and Sydney…travelling Pipers, Comhaltas Tours, Ballad Bands, Busking Fiddlers, Lilters and layabouts all dispatching the jigs and reels to the far corners..they soon get picked up, turned inside out and upside down, re-arranged and renamed…most times innocently, other times that authorship be claimed ( that too can happen innocently)
Hi Christy, my name is Harry and I am 6 years old. Last night was my first time at your concert and I loved it. I was sitting in the front row and you are my favourite singer.
