Passport toothbrush gig ticket and a new pair of jock all packed away and all set for the East end of Glasgow..
Unfortunately this is only my first Christy gig of 2017 which made me think Christy is how many gigs a year are you playing at the moment and what would be your favourite venue in Ireland did you ever play??
There is some magical places in Ireland but one place I fell in love with was the old mill at Victoria bridge just outside caragh. They held gigs there for a couple of years and it was the first place I ever seen John spillane Frankie lane and have been a fan ever since.
Seen live at the point on vinyl during the week it’s amazing how things come back around.
That album has to one of the best live albums ever to be recorded.
I read before that album was a make up of 22 nights but listening to it, it felt like it was recorded over one night..
The night is getting away from me so I’ll see ya tomorrow Christy hopefully the lads in the hoops bar across the road get a result tomorrow too.
Come on ye dreamers…

One Down,…One to go…great crowd last night…whatever it is about Glasgow listeners, these songs always feel at home here…. its been that way since I first landed 50 years ago…the song, the singer, the listener,
all meld together upon The Clyde
counting down the hours to the night’s concert in Glasgow. Give it laldy man. The Voyage is my favourite song and it was our civil partnership tune. Would love to hear it live sometime. Any after effects from the glesca cuisine???

Hi Christy, just passed sign welcoming us to Contae Cill Dara! We are on our way to Clifden. Hope the rest of the tour goes well and you all have a safe journey home.

From The Black Mountain to The Twelve Bens….
“I’m workin here in Glasgow I’ve got a dacent job
carrying bricks and mortar and my pay is 15 bob
I rise up in the morning, I rise up with the lark
and as I’m walkin down the street I can hear the girls remark
,,,,,,,,,Hello Patsy Fagan,I can hear the girls all cry”
Oh yes, Christy you sang you were dreaming of Daniel during DTS … but then he suddenly entered stage and you did the duet, also joined by the new crowned “Mary”.
Busy here with preparations for the long journey.
See you soon, Traudel
Christy's reply
“Mary you’re my hearts delight,my pride and only care,
it was your cruel father would not let me stay there,
But absence makes the heart grow fond, while I’m o’er The Main
may the Lord protect my darling girl ’til I return again”.
Good morning Christy,
Hope this finds you well. We got great reports of your Scotland tour, seems you are enjoying it very much.
Re to IggyB’s post below: I remember well that poster Jim Donohoe gave to him/you – The Mary from Dungloe Festival – and I can clearly recall that night in the Dome on August 1st. The year was 1994!
We are crossing the water soon, if all goes well we’ll celebrate Bealtaine on Beara and already looking forward to a couple of gigs in the Hills of Donegal and the Midlands later in May.
Best of Luck for Glasgow and safe travels! Traudel
Christy's reply
Did I dream it or was I joined on stage by Daniel ?…did we duet on “Mary from Dungloe”? any clues ?…….I know we sang together once on The Late Late Show, that we once did an interview together for the BBC World Service, once we shared a dressing room in NCH Dublin at an awards event ( I recall feeling sartorially inadequate)…
Scotland is treating us very well…we shall be well prepared for Letterkenny, Birr and Cavan..we will strive to please
Dohhhh…..you know I woke up at 4 this morning and thought bugger. I need to give him my dad’s name. But you beat me to it! His name is Jim Casey and he is from Linlithgow. Thanks for coming back to me on this – you don’t get this level of customer care from other so called stars ! Sorry for the extra admin. Brian

Interacting with this forum helps pass the time between gigs. There is only so much snooker that I can take…..in earlier decades time was filled with numerous tasks….finding the venue being the most onerous…then there was sorting the doss, seeking the rogan, changing strings, networking, getting the ale in, chasin a deal, dem was the days
these times are very different…driven to the venue, hotel sorted, food provided, everything prepared by a great team… all I have to do is stay alive and be ready for the vital two hours….practice a bit every day, stretch the limbs, watch snooker and write to the few correspondants that drop into this forum…sure beats slaughterin pints o heavy in The Scotia
Hi Christy. I caught you in Edinburgh the other night. Really great evening – I brought some friends along who hadn’t been before and I think they enjoyed your banter with the audience as much as the music. I am taking my old man to the Barras to see you on Saturday. At 76 he is a late Christy Moore “virgin” but he is thoroughly looking forward to it. He cares for my mum full time so it will be a good chance for a few pints and a break from hard work to hear you. If you could play him anything and shout out to him it would top the whole thing off – but if you played Galtee Mountain Boy I am not sure we will ever get him back to the house ! Thanks again. Brian
Christy's reply
Brian….
I’m gonna need the good man’s name !
(and maybe from where he came)
Hi Christy, hope you’re well. Myself and my dad are flying to Glasgow tomorrow to see you at the Barrowlands on Saturday. Can’t wait, we have seen you all over Ireland and the Barrowlands is always a special gig. If it’s possible could you play ‘True Love Knows No Season’ for the two of us from the shadow of Slievenamon?

where the herd returns slowly to pasture

Hi Christy, The price of the ‘Come all you dreamers’ DVD is €60 + €8 postage via eBay. Not the sort of money I want to be paying whilst living the student life! It is on sale from a seller that goes by the name of ‘mightymovies2001’. Thanks, Connor.

they fought for Freedom and never feared danger
Glory O Glory O to the Bold Fenian Men”
My other Granny, Bridget Dowling, was never heard to sing, poor woman led a sad and lonesome life…occasionally she might show the start of a smile but would soon divert it..
Kevin Barry appeared out of the blue last time in Glasgow….had no plan to sing it that night but out it came..have not sung it publicly since..
