Hi Christy, greetings from Mallorca.I’ve been out of touch for some time, like yourself I’ve been a busy man but I’ll get to that in a second. That’s great news about the documentary ,I look forward to that,it’s great that your hard work and contribution to Irish music is to be finally put out on film.Unfortunately I won’t get back to Ireland this winter to catch one of your shows(it’s been too long since Wexford) but I’ve been up to my eyes belting out the songs and keeping The Auld Triangle afloat, doing my usual winter stints in Switzerland and also my 14 year old son Calum is making lots of noise on the Spanish pop scene. His debut album Hey Babe hit number 1 here in the charts,so I’ve been busy helping him with all that and was in Mexico on a promo trip with him in July.Full steam ahead for the half Tallaght half Granada boy..and to top it off my wife and I are expecting baby number 3 next month so busy times all around…whoever said no rest for the wicked was feckin’ right…Thanks for the chat and new info Christy, there’s just no stoppin’ ye…All the best for now….Kevin.

Ride on Calum Heaslip…giz a shout if you’re ever stuck for a 70 year old Bodhrán player
Well done on another wonderful chat, Christy. Thanks for keeping us all informed as the never ending Journey continues at pace. It is wonderful to hear of new additions to the already magnificent and varied set. Hope all the new projects continue to go well.
Keep up the campaign for the Harbour….if they are so flush with funds, why not look after those less needy who have no where to sleep at night on our streets.
Ride on,
Patsy

What a lovely chat…it’s always great to read of your travels and to hear about Cities, venues and the people you meet along the way. Also good to know there’s so much work in progress, we look forward to it very much.
I was asked to help the Save Our Seafront campaign by taking photos for their current Newsletter, depicting the many amenities and uses the people of the area and beyond get from the harbour and pier area. (Newsletter just out), I picked up a few copies at their HQ in Dun Laoghaire yesterday…they are flying along, bringing the needed attention to their campaign.
I must get to a gig soon, there’s some songs you mention there added to the setlist often, that I would love to hear…also nice to hear of work with the Waldo…he’sout agin in early Oct in North strand…will keep us all posted …have a great trip to Carlow…I might follow ye up yet…L

hey Lar…your photos are excellent in that newsletter…your praises were read from the altar at the SOS meeting the other night..the room was rammed as we heard about the shenanigans and shifty moves of The Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company who seek to (eventually) privatise Dunleary Harbour ….they’ve been at it for years but have been stopped in their tracks by people power….these honchos have some mystery money behind them, they’ve been conniving behind closed doors and playing the system for all they’re worth …..
Wonderful chat yet again. Great to see all those projects on the go, and great anticipation to see and hear the results. That Oblivion is some song and looking forward to hearing it on the radio on Saturday. Keep doing what you do, Christy. We get a lot of pleasure when you sing 🙂

Thanks for feedback John….nice to know that you read my scribbles…Mick Blake is a great writer of songs
Christy, looking forward immensely to Buxton next month…I suggested to you on here a good while ago about playing Buxton because of the similarity of the venue to the Hackney Empire where we saw you a few years back…is this just pure coincidence or did you take the suggestion in and then churn it back out of the wild Greg matter when the opportunity arose?! Either way, can’t wait…
Christy's reply
everthing goes into the churn Mark….we never know whats gonna come out…sometimes butter, sometimes margarine
Looking forward to Saturday, the words of that song will ring true at the funeral down here next Friday, and the place full of politicians, and dignitaries!!!
I write to you today in order to ask for a special favour for a huge fan of yours, namely my uncle. 🙂 As he’s going to celebrate his entry to the 60’s in one month on October 4th, we thought it would be just great if he’d get a very special birthday message from you on that occasion. He is going to see you in concert in November, as my auntie plans to surprise him a bit this year. 😉
Sooooooooo it’d be just so great from you to please send me just a few lines of your birthday wishes for my beloved Uncle Sepp, who is turning 60 in October, to make his special day a bit more awesome!! You can contact me on: rici.hofer@gmail.com – again, I and my whole family would be very grateful to you as you are an inspiration and exceptional artist in my uncle’s eyes and I am sure he shall never ever forget his 60th if he could read some lines directly from you, when he’s going to see you in concert one month after that!!
I’d be very very pleased to hear from you soon, my family counts on you, Mr. Moore, and shoots a very big THANK YOUUUUUUUU ahead!! 😀
All the best from your young follower Rici
Christy. Had the most amazing time. I looked after Ramblin’ Jack Elliott for the day. He’s some boyo! Always up to no good. When I told him my name, he said ‘the last time I heard from that name, the call only lasted 90 seconds and I’m still trying to find a translator to find out what he meant’. Ha ha. Then I chatted with Peter Rowan about Irish poets, he talked about you and Irish music in the past. I talked with Ralph Stanley and I sang some Gospel with 87 year old LC Ulmer of Mississippi, probably the last living blues man of the older world. He gave me his phone number and wants me to visit him. I hardly drank. My spirit is strong. Think I just got born! Honestly, can’t believe it. Stories too long to tell. I sang one for Shane Mac and his broken pelvis. I sang one for Townes Van Zandt to his daughter. Never felt like this in my life. I feel incredible. Seeing my lady helped. The papers have started, will be in Tennessee in three months. Towards the end of my third set, all my gear broke down, so I went a capella until I fixed it all. I was thinking of Luke and his album launch. I was thinking of how you’ve helped. Thanks Christy. I hit a wild chord in the confusion. But I easily forgave myself for a change. https://youtu.be/lSn8Mr6jF4E

some of my favourite moments over the last 50 years have been “when all the gear broke down”……… in Sherkin Island in 1979 a yachtie severed the power cable to the island….we lost power in CJ’s Salthill in 1986..In The Grand Malahide in 1988 ..in the RFH London the feckin stage manager switch off the power during a second encore and I sang to that concert hall with no pa or lights…Jim Donohoe shone a torch on “the act” and the audience remained silent and utterly still ,,,last month in Waterford someone pulled the plug accidentally and for 2 minutes there was utter chaos…BUT the show must go on…Ride On Dylan…Hup ye boy ye
Loving the sound of the documentary film. Might get the TV fixed for that – adjust the valves and the horizontal hold!! Sounds like the sort of project to enthuse an artist – looking back, forward and assessing. Looking forward to that in a big way – something to keep the spirits high through the Winter nights – with hopefully some gigs thrown in for good measure. Thank God for the music and the craic.
Christy's reply
dont even think of getting your telly fixed for one show…I’m sure I can find someone up there who’ll let you into their TV room for the duration….its all go down here…doing a new song on The Marian Finucane show this coming Saturday Morning at 11…RTE Radio 1
HI Christy
Yes, I remember those lyrics from your ‘One Voice’ book. I won’t hold my breath, but please let that seed grow and flower. They would love you over here. Sean Cannon went down a storm at our recent ‘Deep South festival’. Anyway, ‘Sweet Music Roll On’. Thanks again for taking the time to read this and for always engaging with your listeners Christy.
Thanks from a small island. Marks

Good to see that you’re working away these days – including a wee trip to the Walls last week. Interesting to see Dagrab and yourself referencing “The Rochdale Cowboy” himself too – he’s got the autobiography coming out in a couple of weeks. It won’t quite be a “One Voice”, but I dare say there will be some good tales in it for sure – http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Adventures-Crumpsall-Kid-Memoir/dp/1782434526
Keep well and look forward to seeing you soon.

Its a very interesting process…songs long since forgotten have been unearthed and there are new songs to be revealed..many old haunts revisited and new friendships formed….hopefully it will be ready to roll come next Spring

Hi Christy. I really love your music and my fella introduced me to your song the Rose of Tralee last year, I love the story you tell of meeting Rose and eventually going back to her place and the song has fastly become a favourite in my play list, and has been part of many a lively evening round the campfire and at home after a few glasses of wine. I know it’s a lengthy song of yours, and may be out of your repertoire but we are coming to see you on the 23rd October at Buxton Opera House and I would be over the moon if you sang it. I would even where my 501’s and dig out the Dr Martens 😉 x
Christy's reply
“Me and The Rose” has only been performed once in the past 20 years. On that occasion, the Rose in question (Brenda Hyland), came to a concert in County Meath. She requested the song that her husband and family might here it live…it was the least I could do…..I may revive it again but its a complicated piece that requires quite a bit of revision ( and revisionism)…I happened to be in Slattery’s of Capel St 2 days ago and I was delighted to see that a section of the song has been painted on the wall of the bar…that meant as much to me as the Penguin Book !!
Hi Christy
Have you ever played on the Isle of Man? Would love to see you here. Great venues and fantastic island. Short ferry hop!!! Love the music and looking forward to a new album, which I’m hoping is in the pipeline. Please consider coming over.
