Hi Christy,
Another magic night in The Hanger – Míle Buíochas.
The opening four songs fairly set the scene
and then things can go anywhere and they did.
A bit of Casey an a bit of that oul divil is enough.
Hey Ronnie Reagan.
Who knew that they could elect worser ? Twice.
Smoke and Strong whiskey back in the set.
Woddy Guthrie’s Sacco and Vanzetti.
A special moment was Johnny Duhan’s The Voyage.
The choir were in fine voice (the clappers not so much)
An updated version of Encore.
Beeswing for young Molly and Spancil Hill for Harry
Mol an óige … Finished things up with Joxer
to send us all home sweating and buzzing.
You must have been bet after the show.

Hi Christy,
Brilliant night in Salthill last night, and Joxer was a great way to finish! As you could probably see, our Molly loved every moment any sang along all night. It was so kind of you to give her a birthday mention, it was the icing on the (birthday) cake! Your song list was minded like a baby on our way home, lest it get wet! She was buzzing and could hardly sleep! Unforgettable memories for a 10 year old.
Hey Christy, Great to see you still out there entertaining the masses. I never got back to you after our “Christy Moore Tribute Fundraising Concert” in June for The Children of Gaza (Middle East Children’s Alliance) at The Plough & The Stars in San Francisco. Well we raised close to $9,000 and the music fantastic. Many thanks for the go-ahead and God help the Palestinian’s (and we’ll do our bit). Here is a link to a video that I put up on YouTube: https://youtu.be/F3MP2RwZQg8?si=kEtD3Q3byOoFqm-6

Hi Christy,
A wet and dreary Salthill as we arrived this evening. However that soon changed when we got inside, there was a great buzz around . You fairly motored into it from the kick off.Another brilliant set, delighted to hear “ Sacco “ again along with all the other gems.
Thanks Christy for another full on performance.
Ride on
Patsy.

Hi Christy
RIP Nicky Ryan. To this day,his masterly work at Planxty gig sound comes to mind….an early band gig in the packed upper room of a Manchester pub. Every note and word crystal clear…thanks to Mr Ryan.
Very soon, you’ll take to the stage and I know the crew will be ace…following a master craftsman.
Have a great night,all

Nicky’s very first Planxty gig was in the MSG in Manchester. in 1972…I still recall the look on his face when he saw our PA… 2 x100watt Hurley’s Crazy Boxes ( from Glenamaddy) 4 dodgy shure mikes, a Binson Echo and a 100 watt amp….we did two 30 minute spots and went for an Indian..we stayed in a B&B out near Moss Side and struck out for Coventry on Sunday Morning….we laughed our hangovers away…
Christy, only just heard of the passing of Nicky Ryan. A great man with Planxty, yourself, Gary Moore, Clannad, Enya, and lots more! RIP. A clever man behind the desk!
Christy's reply
RIP Nicholas…..Nicky was the foremost sound engineer in Ireland….we met him in London in 1972..he came to an early London gig and we hit it off, we kept in touch and he agreed to have a go at doing our sound…we knew little or nothing about PA sytems, microphones, monitors…Nicky designed a PA system specifically for Planxty… he had ideas for the Band but, unfortunately, we paid no heed….Nicky departed….all his potential and brilliance were soon recognised with the sounds he created for Clannad who enjoyed global success …then he moved again to create a whole new sound scape with Enya….I was around at the beginning of that journey when Nicky engineered my album “Ordinary Man” in his studio in Artane…Enya featured on a few tracks before they went on to conquer the world….
I regret not seeing much of Nicky these past decades but I’ll never forget those early days in the Planxty wagon….when we all had so little but enjoyed each other so much…
Rest in Peace Nicky…we send our condolences to Roma and the Family, to Enya and to all his loved ones…
ps…
” please Nicky…just a little more of Donal & Andy in my monitor “
Hi Christy, coming over to Vicar Street December 8th for my 60th birthday (December 22nd) just wondering if you do photos on your way out at the end of the night? Understand if you don’t.
Christy's reply
agh jasus Andy…you’re 60 , I’m 80, is’nt that enough to be going on with….if all goes well and we both make it to Dec 8th ..I’ll be givvin schtick for almost 2 hours…after that its straight into the oxygen tent where my travelling chaplain will administer last rites and my travellling lawyer will once again try to get me to change my will…if I come thru all that I’ll go thru my Tibetan Relaxation routine learned directly from the Dalai himself in an army barracks in east Derry…then we lorry into a take away vindaloo and put the toilet roll in the fridge for the following morning…over to Copper Jacks then for a few swift basins…by then I’ll be ready for the shoot…4am at the back door of Copper Jacks I’ll do a quick pose with you but make sure you got an experienced shooter…no micky mouse smartphone shots..we’ll need a proper brownie 127 merchant….and be forewarned..chances are there may be gaggle of off duty (tbc p 93)
Thanks for the response Cristy. Flight booked. Hotel booked. So we will be there in the front tables on 15th December at Vicar Street to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary. I am sure it will be as memorable as when we celebrated our 50th with you. Vishva and I can still hear the audience response when you announced it from the stage. Thank you.

all we gotta do now Tom is try and stay alive until Dec 15th….that will be a miracle in itself
Christy, a few of us from Glasgow heading over to Vicar Street again. Will be meeting up with the family from Kildare Town to head your way – it was they who first turned us onto your music years ago. Hooked ever since.
Enjoyed some unforgettable shows at the ‘easy place down Gallowgate’ over the years (“out of Bairds, upstairs…”).
Can’t wait to trip lightly along the ledge in November…
Thanks for continuing to do it.
