Many people who signed up in the past used older or different email addresses to those they use now, or did not reconfirm their email address when Christy’s site transitioned to a new platform a few years ago – so to be sure you should sign up again now.
Conas Ta tu, Christoir? I returned to my home after more tests for a brain tumour with Mayo’s Naise. Met a lovely Donegal collen at the A & E and swapped stories of characters and sheep we had met. The boat to Aranmore island was full of sheep, lovely, beautiful sheep. I stopped off on Killybeggs and a decent fisherman gave me a couple of decent Herrings. Christy, I will never forget the hospitality shown towards me as a young lad, hitching & camping all over Eire. I met a Mr Haughey in Donegal, who let me camp in his garden. We chatted all night, and went to see The Theobald Tonres! Mr Haughey thought it was the Cheiftans. Ha
Slainte!
I’m delighted that you are returning to vicar street later in the year.
I usually get a presale link but somehow this year I can’t find it. Would it be possible to share it with me please?
Many thanks, Ann

Christy after a long weekend in Ireland ,where i was the designated driver for the 4 other lads, we returned to Hawick.
Jings what a great time we had but i just wanted to highlight 2 things
1 if anyone reading this has not been to Laytown races, please consider it for your bucket ( and spade) list. It was about the 20th time that i have gone but it never loses its sparkle. There must be a song in it?
2 i travel over with the mrs in 10 days to visit the reawakening of the Tailteann games, it promises to be a sight to behold, especially for those who have waited a milennium to see it’s wonder. There will be a song in it as young David Keenan is showcasing his new album there after the stone lifting, stick fighting etc
John’s story
This September, Galway native John Crehan will take on the extraordinary challenge of walking almost 1,300km (807 miles) across all 32 counties of Ireland in approximately 40 days, to raise awareness and vital funds for prostate cancer awareness.
John, 63, who now lives in Rickmansworth, will be joined by friends, family and colleagues as he treks across Ireland and Northern Ireland in an attempt to raise awareness of prostate cancer. The challenge will begin in Kiltimagh, Mayo, on 12 September, in honour of the recent centurion, John Garvey – John’s father-in-law. The epic walk will conclude in his family’s hometown of Kilconnell, Ballinasloe, Galway on 24 October, in Broderick’s Bar.
1,299km across the 32 counties
Starting in Kiltimagh, John will begin with a 40km walk northeast into Sligo, before heading east to Carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim.
In the first week, he’ll pass through Longford and Cavan before crossing into Fermanagh via the Stairway to Heaven. From there, he’ll continue north into Enniskillen, walk around Lough Erne and head towards Pettigo, Donegal – covering 190km in just seven days.
Week two will see John walk almost 300km, heading northeast through Donegal and into Northern Ireland to complete Tyrone, Derry, Armagh, Down, and Antrim.
Turning south, he’ll pass through Louth, Monaghan, Meath and Westmeath, before continuing through Offaly, Laois and Kildare. From there, he’ll head east into Dublin, reaching the halfway mark at 633km.
John will then tackle the 120km Wicklow Way national trail over four days, passing through Wicklow, Carlow, and Wexford.
On day 24, he’ll enter Kilkenny and head west into Tipperary, following the River Suir to Clonmel before moving south into Waterford. He’ll join the East Munster Way, continuing west into Cork, then follow The Avondhu Way toward Brosna, a small village in Kerry.
The final stretch – a mere 185km – will take John through Kerry and Limerick, then north into Clare. After navigating Mount Moylussa and the Cappaghabaun Mountains, he’ll enter his home county of Galway. The final 50km through southeast Galway will bring him to the finish line in Timmy Broderick’s on 24 October

Thankfully I’ve avoided throat problems this past while…. thank you
We were fortunate enough to attend your September 5th sold out show in Galway. We have been fans since the 90s and the concert was beyond our expectations. The energy and passion you bring to your live performances is incredible. It is evident that you love every lyric and melody of every song on your set list. Thanks for the shout out to the Newfoundlanders and your beautiful arrangement of Sonny’s Dream. Big thanks to H for all your help!

Last March I just moved to Dublin, I bought the ticket and I went to Castlebar for the lovely gig last October, but I didn’t know very well about many of your songs. Almost one year later, I think I know quite a lot, hope I have another chance to see you again. Best wishes, Greg.
Hi Christy , I saw Bob Dylan last night , kicked off with “Masters of War” and closed with “Don’t think Twice”. , it was great to hear him again, last time was 30 plus years ago at the Albert. Then Willie Nelson came on the stage , picked up “Trigger”. , and performed for 1-1/2 hrs , everything from “On the road again”, “Crazy”, “Roll me up”, I could see the beauty in both songsmiths, they have it , whatever it is , fragile, raw, gentle, honest, weaving words and music. 🎼.
Lovely to hear your enjoying the gigs and having fun, A song I learned many years ago and still gig is “ The Grey Lakes of Laughrea” from your well of songs, it might find a spot for Galway Gig #2.
Love Fin

Hi Christy. I did a fair bit of busking over the summer and ill try to get in a few times a month for the winter. Ive also done a few gigs in the local pub which was great. Its completely different to the busking which has been almost refreshing. I find that with the busking you’re constantly trying to catch people’s attention whilst in the pub you can take it slower and incorporate the slower tunes aswell as the hits. Anyways theyre great in their own ways and its great to get to do both. I also recently bought a new guitar, a Taylor 110 CE. The sound is phenomenal and it was definitely a great purchase. Anyways thanks for your time Christy and once again I’ll see you on Friday. All the best, Harry
