Hi Christy – getting in early to wish you a very Happy 80th Birthday ahead of tomorrow. It seems like only the other day that you marked your 75th during the big Lockdown – how time flies! Disappointed to be missing your gig in the National Opera House in August but hoping that we can catch you in another venue before the end of the year! Enjoy your special day and year & thank you for all the enjoyment your music brings. Best Wishes. Marie & Fintan Kinsella.
Best wishes for your 80th Christy and thank you for all the joy that your music brings. The shows are still as magical and special as ever – if not more so. Looking forward to the Forum in a few weeks. Enjoy your special day.
Happy birthday from the Walshes in Coolcullen.
Hope you’re having a nice day!!

fair play Larball..the auld gigs are leppin these nights…getting mighty energy from the rooms
Long time no post Christy but was discussing you this morning with an old friend, John Griffin, and realised you have a momentous birthday tomorrow when you become an octogenarian.
I’m sure looking back at the wilder times in your life, you would never have thought back then that you would reach such a milestone so let me offer my sincere congratulations and best wishes from bonnie Scotland. Have a wonderful day with your nearest and dearest.
I get the distinct impression that you have grown weary of the travelling troubadour routine outwith Eire now and I’d also like to thank you for the wonderful memories that your gigs in Scotland have left me with. You’re one of very few artists that I feel genuinely moved by when I see them live. There was never a time when I thought you gave less than 100%.
I still make trips over to Donegal to see my best buddy from childhood and also my last remaining uncle. Next time I’m over for a week or more, I’ll be checking your gig list and will drive to wherever is closest and catch you live once again.
Take care my friend, lang may your lum reek.
David.

Hello Christy,
Here’s something beautiful for this morning, this week, to wish you my very best and thank you for all the kindness, joy, advice and fun I’ve found with you here, at your gigs and in your recordings.
Well Christy me auld mucker, won’t be long now, as the monkey said when it’s tail was cut.
Hope yourself and your extended family have a grand time tomorrow and the following days.
And there’ll sure be a grand sing song in the ‘Kaydeen’ on Saturday night!
I’m sure the ghost of PJ will be singing along, maybe Shergar will put in an appearance, and sure you’ll give Ruby a lash!
Just like yourself now,
‘they’re galloping down the back straight, he has her in the canter’
Keep galloping on my friend.

I was at Goodwood Racesin the Summer of ’63…the bould PJ ( Darkey) had a double..8/1 and 11/2…..I was on a pub bus outing from my local in Southall, I think it was The Three Tuns….we stopped in Esher on the way back..there was holy murder and I got blempt
There’s a beautiful place near Allenwood, where Johnny Doyle is King,
the sprinting Lilywhite in Aontroim ran in three-O-five-eighteen.
My son and his mate were delighted to spot the hurling legend as he ran past them!
Happy birthday Christy – missed it by THAT much..
Thanx for the music & banter
BTW: Oz voters overwhelmingly rejected this wave of Fascism this time – all is not lost
Trump’s menacing orange hue swung voters to repudiate his Oz copycats
Hope you overindulged celebration wise
Best witches & wishes

There also a beautiful version by Christie McNamara on his CD The house I was reared in but I haven’t found it online yet
I was going to add Lakes of Pontchartrain too, till I realised I’d remembered it wrong and it’s a fine morning in March, not May.
