Commissioned by the committee for concerned universities’ staff -University College,Galway
I hope the committee liked the music…as a result,I’m now enlightened by online pieces about the amazing PO’D…’folk’ music at its best,linking past and present…D
Played a lot of Moving Hearts yesterday and settled on ‘The Storm’ to start today…Over the years,I think I’ve taken Davy Spillane a bit too much for granted. In that his consistency is stunning-on pipes and low whistle… solos and ensemble ‘drive’ is a wonderful mix. On this album,Donal Lunny set up Tribute to Peadar O’Donnell,which is now on repeat!

The great and the good singing Woddy and Leadbelly songs.
Willie Nelson, His Bobness, His Bruceness , U2 …
Our Emmylou stole the show with Hobo’s Lullaby.
Woddy’s son Arlo got the silver with East Texas Red.
How do goodness ? How do greatness ?
And no sign of the Christyman’s Sacco and Vanzetti.

A line of poetry on the field running through song from the terraces for over 135 years .Glasgow Celtic are champions again, as the great Tommy Burns said ‘ you’re playing for a people and a cause’.
There will be much singing, fiddles playing, dancing and hugging in the greenest part of that dear green place.

Waterstones has a great shop on Deansgate. One of their tactics to get my cash is to put music books on prominent display…their cunning plan worked today,but their profits aren’t swelled by much. For a tenner,I have a newly published,hard back gem…’A Year in Story and Song’,by Lia Leendertz…lots of context info,songs and music.Starting with Ae Fond Kiss,finishing with The Wren Song…and for May,Solidarity Forever…Well worth giving into temptation.
I’d have loved to have heard Alastair Cameron’s Yorkshire impression after a Websters or eight! I hope he didn’t do it during Dalesman’s Litany… (just joking!)
Might be making this up but I feel like I xsn gear Liam O’Flynn in the phrasing?

certainly Liam would have heard Pádraic’a phrasing…. possibly learned “Merrily Kiss The Quaker” from Seamus Ennis’s recording of Pádraic..

Is there a prize ??? Best of luck tonight at leath ama I guess you will sing ” Palestine ” to the Sold Out Game. there will be some buzz. It is good to see the welcome the Palestinian women have already received including a visit to the Aras to meet Pres Michael D Higgins. Beir bua agus beannacht. H
