Hi Christy,
As a child, I remember the first three records my daddy (himself a ‘bogman’ with Bórd na Móna) bought for our HMV radiogram: The Clancy Brothers w. Tommy Makem – Come fill your glass; The Songs of John McCormac and the 3rd one was Brendan O’Dowda “Sings the songs of Percy French”. One song on the that record was The Mountains of Mourne. Your many emigrant songs mirror its sentiments. Did you ever record or think of recording it? This is how Don McLean interprets it https://youtu.be/x3zSOCuAPfA

The Westlodge performance was yet again another mighty performance by Christy & all in the band. We also went to balinasloe our first time of seeing Christy Live. This Christy will be a lifetime memorable night. It’s not much of a secret that we booked ur Balinasloe tickets before any airflights or a true plan for getting to & around Ireland.
In this way I am adding my voice to the Australian chorus of please visit us, your brother seems to every year which is great.
There’s this little thing we do called Port Fairy Festival which retains the full character of Lisdoonvarna
Caroline & I will again be in the audience again tonight. You are grand thank you for so much pleasure. By the way do you ever play Lanigan’s Ball any more?
Christy's reply
Rodney &Caroline..fair play, you truly are a pair of songbirds…..thank you for long-distance listening and for sharing your journey with us….I have not sung Lanigan’s Ball for nigh on 30 years..had much fun with it in the 80s…must see if I can dig it out of the old memory bank
Yes, my good brother Luka loves his trips down under, he is a regular visitor…I had 6 great tours in earlier days….these times I need to play closer to home….me and planes dont sit well together…heard many great reports from the Port Fairy gathering
What a great night it was at the Westlodge hotel. You all were in flying form. Great mix of “old” and “new” songs. The songs, the harmonies, the colouring of the music: it gelled just perfect.
Thank you very much for the music, the songs and singing the 16 ravers. We’ll meet again somwhere down the road. Good luck with the upcoming gigs. Hup!

Hi Christy, hope this finds you well and in good form after your weekends exertions in the Kingdom. It was a great gig in Killarney I’m sure last night. I’m planning a wee trip south myself this week, all going well. I’m hoping to get into Cork nice and early on Thursday for the Bantry gigs at the weekend. This will be my first ever visit Leeside and the last of the 32 Counties for me to visit…I’m told West Cork is very beautiful, so with that in mind I’m looking forward to a bit of touring & sightseeing along the coast. I know its an area your familiar with so any recommendations of what to see would be appreciated …LOL ! Just gonna chill, enjoy the southern hospitality and take life easy for a few days. I’m just in as well from a great gig earlier tonight at the Balor Theatre in Ballybofey…Keith Donald performing his new show “NewBliss” ..I brought along some of the gang from the Club in Donegal for a #SoberNightOut …the show of course was appropriate and we all gleamed much identification from Keith’s story. He talked us through his journey, of his childhood, his music, his descent into alcoholism, of his “moment of clarity” and of his road to redemption from the town of NewBliss some 25 years ago. He spoke very highly of the “Hearts” and of the legendary CM & DS…he also spoke to me of mutual friends we have in Bernard & Mary Loughlin, they for years managed The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig in County Monaghan. Mary & Benny now live in a tiny village called Farrera in the High Pyrenees where I spent some quality time with them last year. Anyways a most enjoyable evening was had and it was great to see John from Derry at the show as well (catch it if you can) …better go and find the SatNav and check if its still working …its a long way to Cork when you don’t know where your going ..LOL ! …See you below ! Love & Respect Martin Mac
I can’t believe I found this site. I have loved you since I was a child. I have your c.d in my car and I play it for my kids now. I sing along but always dream and wish that I could sing Ride On or Black is the colour with you some day. I really hope to get to Bantry on Saturday.
You are a legend and my favourite singer/songwriter.
Hi Christy, Thanks very much for the Brilliant concert last night. There were so many great songs and music its hard to know what was the highlight of the night. But for me to perform Fairytale of New York in July and get such a reaction was the highlight for me A great song can be sang any time of the year. Thanks again Christy and best of luck in the future.

In Kiltimagh last year an audient passed out with the heat..he was wearing 2 overcoats, a gansey a shirt and a vest in the middle of summer and he complained that the room was very hot
Love & Respect Martin Mac
keep coming back
I can’t believe I found this site. I have loved you since I was a child. I have your c.d in my car and I play it for my kids now. I sing along but always dream and wish that I could sing Ride On or Black is the colour with you some day. I really hope to get to Bantry on Saturday.
You are a legend and my favourite singer/songwriter.
driving and dreaming…I know the feeling
Hi Christy, Thanks very much for the Brilliant concert last night. There were so many great songs and music its hard to know what was the highlight of the night. But for me to perform Fairytale of New York in July and get such a reaction was the highlight for me A great song can be sang any time of the year. Thanks again Christy and best of luck in the future.
its too good a song to be confined to such a short festive period…..Shane & Jem Finer created a classic here..its always a joy to sing
