Hi Christy
Up in Glasgow for work and looking out over her spires, high rises and even a sightline across to paradise ( parkhead).
I grabbed breakfast with 2 of my weans in Dennistoun before work near to one of Hamish’s song venues the Palais.
The Michael Marra song Mother Glasgow ‘in the second city of the empire mother glasgow nurses all her weans’ comes to mind looking out.
The Barras of course is it’s beating heart and i suggested to Flora that she drop in at the weekend for the clothes stalls, sugarry sweeties and LP sellers.
Of course our lady of the Barrowlands comes to life best at night, the life, the dancing, the swallae, the song .
By we have shared some nights in there with you sir. It is hard to think we may never ‘meet’ there again but if we don’t then i will treasure forever the dripping sweat, the sing-a-longs, the reverence and the ecstacy. Deep joy
Thanks Christy

Two weeks ago I met two men making a Doc Film about “Mags McIvor’s”….They flew over from Scotia. We met in The Lexicon, Dun Laoghaire and talked about Gallowgate and the song…..always a pleasure to sing it, to remember

Stunning !
Thank you…
Never saw it before…
Such an artist
Small wonder that Joni also makes brush strokes
She paints a powerful picture here
Poor Vincent in the back ground
Leonardo also played and painted
It is haunting to sing Joni’s “Magdalene Laundry”, it draws me back repeatedly
It’s remarkable to see how the music is moving down into a younger generation. Some great stories I’m seeing, an entire family coming to Limerick to hear you, all of them fans, and the man from Bedford.
I’ll be back – soon.

Just poking my head around your corner to say how much I like Greenland song…

We’re all really looking forward spending time with loved ones over there in Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny and Cork. I’m delighted to have 4 tickets for your show in Waterford on July 1st. Is there any chance you could play The Voyage that night? Your good friend Ger Fennelly from down near Thomastown sang a cracking rendition of that special song for meself and Kelly on our wedding day nearly 16 years ago and its been held close to our hearts ever since. I still see Ger from time to time here in Brisbane and he always talks fondly of you.

Hello Christy,
Its great to see so many fab people frequenting this place. I’ve been a regular in these parts for a while, ever since I asked Christy for the name of a reel and got a story about a banjo player from Tyrone who knew the name but was unavailable because he’d gone to live in a yurt in outer Mongolia. The mobile signal out there is brutal.
I’m Rebecca from Yorkshire. I sing and play the harp and do as many gigs as I can, which seems to be about one a year right now. I go to a local folk session where the fiddler Stuart and I are busy trying to wean the guy in charge off the beatles with as fine a selection of reels and jigs as my bodhran can muster.
I omitted the elbows in the ribs and the squashing of each other and pushing each other out the door outside UCH and my big brother landing into a hedge – should have known you’d get a kick out of a narrative like that!
Hi Christy. I was at your concert in UCH in Limerick last Thursday and I cannot stop singing your songs since. I was absolutely enraptured for the entire duration of your show.
Would you believe that I (36F) travelled to the show with my Dad (72) Mum (62) big brother (38) and little (!) brother (36). We all went in the same car. It must be 15 years since we all travelled in the same car together and it was most likely Christmas Day so your concert ranks high on important days for our family! Christmas Day drives always had you on cassette or CD as it was always part of Dads present. Dad and Mam and I saw you years ago in Vicar Street so we brought the boys along this time (neither were living in the country back then). It was a gorgeous evening, some of your pieces are haunting.
Can I ask the name of two of them – the one with the Bodhran and the one you sang a Capella about 45 mins in. Chilling.
Your new additions to El Politico are outstanding but Viva La Quinta Brigada is still my ultimate favourite it made my night that you sang it. I’m such a fan we even walked down the aisle to you singing The Voyage!
Thanks for all the wonderful memories and thank you for a great night last week.

Hi Christy,
Hope all is well for you and your family.
Almost forty years ago on 9th June 1982, my son Sean was born in Hammersmith, London. The following evening I joined Sean’s mother to see Moving Hearts in The Half Moon pub in Putney. You were the lead singer of the band. I remember a great night. Sean has given both parents a hard time for leaving him that night, but he was in safe hands.
Your music and gigs have provided me with much joy over the last forty plus years. Many thanks.

I spent some time yesterday afternoon with The Contender, new to me and a new way of working. Humming through and doodling on the harp till it was all there. I’ve just got to do that middle bit.
Its a new way of working for me and I like it more than sitting at the piano with words, working the chords out and writing them down. Breaking free from my education.

Dear Christy,
Great to read of your exploits and views.
I wondered if you were ‘bought back in’ after winning the seller, or whether shrewd Emmet Mullins purchased you for a gambling coup in 9 months time round the sharp turns of Ballinrobe?
I love that wee course, i seem to recall it had a huge salmon constructed beside the track, beautiful place.
The lads and i are heading over to Laytown Strand for racing in September, hoped i could catch a gig too but unfortunately your Bundoran exploits will be in full flow as young Tom Hamilton ( claiming 5) rides the winner on the sand for Ado McGuinness.

Jayo’s mug of tea currently is the bookies favourite at 8/11.
Saturday is Leopardstown amongst the hobnobbing gentry and the flat boys with their fur coats, brylcreem and RayBans ( me in my shorts n hoodie) before the quarter finals at night in the derby at Shelbourne ( trap 6 every time).
Jings am fair looking forward to it but i have a night at (Old Kilcullen) Cill Chuilin to come before then in Eugene Brennan’s ( 8 til late and who’s first up on the pool table?) While attending Goffs at Kill in a couple of weeks from now.

…….there was a slight air of despondency this morning, until the healing power of tea and toast began to take effect….there is a chorus of bird song outside the window…the Sun is shining, the garden beckons….
gonna get up now and go at it again
Back home from a wonderful visit in Ireland. We had the great joy of being at three gigs during that time. We will never forget the evening in Limerick that ended with Spancil Hill! Then we were on to two special evenings in Kilkenny. Great company and great music – the perfect visit! Thank you
Farewell you Moores of Meadowview…it was a pleasure to sing for you….happy to read that you had a good visit….we’re still enjoying the confections you gifted…Ride On
