BEST of LUCK for your extraordinary gig, dear Christy!
Amazing things happening in these strange times … Almost a year has passed since we last saw you in concert at Slieve Donard (much too long) and we now really looking forward to NCH tonight.

Howya Christy… we’ve the ham and cabbage boiling for the crew that’ll be here later for the show. It’s a hard time to be a cop in America so we’ll have a few on hand tonight all looking forward to you pulling us out of the duldrums for a while. Enjoy it as much as we will 👏🏻

My kids ( now in their 20s) were reared on the “Christy Moore Live at the Point”
CD. I was at this concert with my then girl friend and now my wife. Joxer is our “Family Anthem”; I joke you not! My wife’s favourite is the Voyage.
We have a practise session to night at 1900 over dinner to get ready for tonight’s NCH performance. We have friends ( Felicity Felliher + Michel Bazile) from Vannes in France are going too.
We are all looking forward to this performance.
Best regards
Gerry Jones + the Jone Family

You’ve reminded me,
Twas a Sat night in 1974, Planxty were on tour in Brittany…after a long journey we were famished…. pulling up outside the venue Johnny jumped out of the van…
” its Brest feeding time” sez he as he disappeared into the Boulangerie
I’m certain he’d been waiting for days to utter those words….
the things we remember
Ps, the dozing should have been aimed at myself, i read it again today, it looks rude, sorry.
Rory
Ps listening today to Liam McGrandles’ new album, THE PLACE YOU CALL HOME. It is braw.
Begobs, choc ices on Croagh Patrick! What next? Oh YES! Finally Christy plays in Rheinbach, and the Guinness can flow during the gig! Joxer is parking the Honda 50 in my yard, and all the gang are gathering……
Tonight’s the night, and ’twill be magic. Hope you can enjoy it yourself half as much as we will.
Hello Sir, We are looking forward to seeing you on the box tomorrow eve! I suppose you may not get this until after, but here’s hoping all goes well! We just listened to the teaser and the sound quality was great. Tiffany and I playing The Voyage for our small backyard wedding went very well. There wasn’t a dry eye on the patio or the Zoom call, it seemed.
That bouzouki is a lot of fun, a friend and I just recorded a song he wrote for Colin Kaepernick with him on guitar and me on bouzouki, sort of a Guthrie style tune. We sent it in to Democracy Now thinking it might fit for one of the musical interludes. A good bit of crack even if they don’t pick it up.
Smiles and warm regards, Beau and Tiff (Beau Tiff Full)
Christy's reply
Morning Madam,
I always check my box first thing,
keep that Carpinteria box ‘n bouzouki Duo going…
catch you later..
“Welcome to the Well…hopefully in the years to come it’s the first of many songs”
A younger man said those words about a score or so years ago.
In the last 13 years about 150,000 people have watched that first returning song on youtube, a tentative step back into performing.
That bloke was right, many gigs have flowed through the well since, thankfully.
Natives, such a precious song as mentioned a couple of times today.
I gather that ,lockdown allowing, there may be another gig in under 24 hours….the next of many, such joy.
I have indelible inked words from Lisdoonvarna and Yellow Triangle, maybe it is time for some words from Natives to become hide inscribed soon. Rebeccah is right to cherish it’s lesson.
Sleep tight big fella, we don’t want you dozing off during the gig.
Regards
Rory

That Cumar was the most beautiful of programmes….Mairtín was perfectly positioned within it…his music the very soul of the West….Róisín was simply beautiful, her singing and demeanour exhuding hope for the future, Rita Ann is pure, real, funny, sad, lonesome, full of crack,warm-hearted,welcoming,keep-your-distance Galway, Tommy is the fully settled, totally accepted blow-in,as mad as a beautiful hatter, shur jasus aint we all blow ins at the end of the day, we’re all here on Nature’s whim….and we could all be blown out of it on a spider’s fart….
Fair Play TG4…..cream rises to the top
Rick and I will be listening tomorrow from Shelton, Washington (state) near Olympia. We are staying safe, hoping for a brighter future (after November 3rd). We were even optimistic enough to rent a house on the Dingle peninsula next Sept and hope you will have some gigs by then that we can catch. (we loved the concert at Vicar Street in January when we flew to Dublin). Looking forward to the concert tomorrow! Kathleen
Christy's reply
I’ll be lurking near Ventry Harbour, Hang-gliding off Brandon, snorkelling with Fungi, sucking chowder through a vegan straw in Ballyferriter…..by jasus Kathleen, You,Me & Rick will have almighty crack
I’m writing you on behalf of THE TULLAMORES my dear friends: they are from Italy (la spezia) and they play together since 30 years ago, irish folk music and also some of your songs…
Maybe you remember that I wrote you here in may 2015, in the occasion of your gig we had the chance to see (finally) in Llandudno. You have been so kind that you replied me here on the blog and you even surprised us by dedicating to THE TULLAMORES Joxer Goes to Stuttgart during the concert and asking us what we want to listen!!!
It was a huge surprise for my best friend Andrea “Franz” Franceschini (THE TULLAMORES frontman/singer…) and one of the best moments in life …. He could not even say a word to thank you, on that occasion, so big was the emotion!
We recently bought the ticket for your online streaming concert of tomorrow and we had planned to watch it all together at my place, but something tragic and unthinkable occurred meanwhile. My friend Franz left this world way too early, due to an unpredictably fast disease, letting all of us despairing and astonished, just 5 days ago.
we decided to say goodbye and to honour Franz by playing some of his favourite songs at the funeral, black is the colour and viva la quinta brigada
The Tullamores and me are struggling hard in these days, especially Laura that is Franz’s wife (she played the whistle n the group)
This Saturday I decided to watch your concert anyway, even if I’ll be alone (Laura does not have the strength to afford this yet…) …it’s going to be another way to keep Franz’s memory alive and to remember him and his great love for the music.
I just wanted to tell you this….thank you
Christy's reply
May Franz Rest in Peace…
May you Tullamores make music to honour his memory…
May Laura find peace of mind
Hello Christy,
Natives is on my list to learn. It’s been there a while but your quote might have started it budging. The pointiest line for me is
With the touch of a strangers hand innocence turns to shame.
From listening to the people here, I think many of us have managed to hold onto a native mind.
So, we’ll be there in spirit. I wonder, if we all wear enough perfume and aftershave whether it will come through.
This is the first gig where my outfit isn’t already sorted.
Rebecca

The powers that be have decided that Bars may remain open for the duration of this gig….I do apologise to all concerned …. this decision was taken in my absence…please use alcohol sensibly…this gig is limited to 80 minutes…. Diageo really do care..meanwhile, mines a quadruple vodka, hold the ice, two pints of Camerons Strongarm for a chaser and a large Brandy and Creme de Menthe ( stinger) to soften any potential after shock…then maybe a Gallon of Bulmers to clear my throat the following lunchtime after which I’ll probably go to the Gym
Dear Christy,
How long…
The taster video has whetted the apetite, 36 hours til we feed on the nectar of the gig.
Excitement is mounting, thanks for your part in keeping us sane since March.

Last time we got tickets for a Christy Moore gig was about 10 years ago, at the Dome in Brighton. Unfortunately, our dog disappeared the day before the gig; we’d only had him 4 days and he didn’t know his way back, so we stayed home to search for him instead. Got him back, but it was the longest 3 days of my life and of course we missed the gig. Looking forward to Saturday xx

Hopefully you’ll get to use those tickets when we return to Brighton (or Hove actually)..I like that venue ….that Town too…
