Lizzie started something amazing with the link to the Peregrine falcons…I’ve kept a close eye on them and marvelled at their size increase, the way their feathers are now flecked and the volume they create, especially when food arrives!Fab to see and fair play to the brains behind the cameras.
Many thanks.Keep well.
Dagrab, are you still watching the peregrines? They have become so big now and are getting ready to fledge. There is a Q an A session today at four (midnight with you), where the couple who oversee the Campanile project and other bird people will be talking about what happens next in the youngsters’ lives. Here’s the link:
Sorry for hijacking your site to talk about birds, Christy, but they are musical. When these young falcons start squawking together, they sound just like a Metal band.
My Mother says you are indeed right about the “h” Christy. Something I never looked into before… Go raibh míle!
Haha you wouldn’t know where you’d find me. Abu Dhabi is a great old laugh so I like to call it HahAbu Dhabi. Looking forward to the next videos and hopefully a bit of Beeswing along the way. Beir Bua Christy!! 😊

Dear Christy, the curlew ,lark ,chaffinches ,black crows.
In our chatter here ,in the guestbook ,many of us remark of the beauty of birds all around us, many now being properly heard or seen for the first time, because of our necessary peace and inactivity.
It is poignant that Bobby Sands repeatedly mentions with affection those birds , and birdlife, in his 17 day diary.
I have been re reading it again ,over the last 17 days, and then last afternoon i was listening to graffiti tongue, enjoying particularly ‘On the mainland’ and recalling how ,now sung live, it slips seemlessly into Back Home In Derry.
Of course then that song was sung by Bik McFarlane in remembering last night ,himself so close to Bobby Sands as the diary was being written.
What a world of connections we live in.
Regards
Rory

So,tomorrow is the second online music fest via http://www.folkonfoot.com/festival .The line up is on the website .Chris Wood has an afternoon slot with Richard Thompson (and partner,Zara Phillips)in the evening.Eliza Carthy and The Unthanks plus other luminaries will also lift the spirits for sure…
Despite the fact that Barnard Castle is a wonderful place (and sounds like its from ‘Little Musgrave’)I’m resisting revisiting the town just yet,but am meeting up to chat with my music companero for the first time in weeks tomorrow,so will be dipping into the afternoon music.Hopefully, the whole event will remain on the website along side numerous other great items.
Hi Christy, I asked you to say Happy Birthday to my husband on his 60th Birthday but forgot to give you his name 🙄😂
His name is Martin Fitzgerald and yours will be one of his most treasured Birthday wishes
Thanks Catherine
‘Citizens of Boomtown’ was a superb watch on BBC last night…worth trying to track down for readers outside UK…fascinating insights into Irish popular culture/social history-with emphasis on Geldof/The Rats and their individual/group careers/role in the punk movement etc.A very well made film.
Until the reference in the film,I’d forgotten the ‘boomtown’reference to Woody Guthrie’s work…as so often,Woody was a key influence…I suppose he wa a ‘punk’ at heart!
Hi, Mary. I’m a Tyrone woman through and through. I’ve been a Red Hand supporter all my life and go to all matches when I’m at home. My father was always involved with our local club and used to drive the minibus when we were young. He always made room for my sisters and me even though the bus would be packed – and no, we weren’t after the boys but really loved the football. We followed Tyrone around the country well before the glory days and went home disappointed so many times before they finally won the big one in 2003.
I did get a ticket for the match you are referring to which was the All Ireland final two years ago. Tyrone had a great opening quarter, but Dublin then did their usual and that was that. There will be no going home or matches for a while in these virus days. Are you from Tyrone, too, or are your people from there?
I enjoyed your mini concert.i was mulling over the idea myself, I might just give it a shot.i need to try out the three last efforts anyway..if I do it I’ll send u a link ..keep your powder dry Christy.
Lizzie, I hope you don’t mind me asking…are you from or do you have connections with Tyrone? From memory i think you were planning to sneak into Croke Park for
a Tyrone match! regards Mary
Just watched you on Martin’s birthday commemoration. I liked your choice of song, and the rendition was very moving -I found myself tearing up during the last verse. The whole tribute was was very nicely done. Martin was a great man and his legacy lives on.
Hi C.I’m a bit embarrassed by the rush of blood to my head which caused my suggestion that The One Voice might read the phonebook, the slaggging from my comrade 4711ers was really helpful,it gave me the perspective I needed, thanks lads !! So on mature reflection some respectful requests; anything by your goodself, Wally, Jimmy Mac and John Spillane. More specifically my own revised requests ;repeating the call for So Do I, BBR, Wallflower, Beeswing, St Brendans Voyage, Matty, Listen, Billy Gray, two challenges ; Lord Baker and Musgrave, and the real outlier ; Sweet Music Roll On from the pens of Graham Lyle & Tom Mc Guinness, your singing will be just grand without Enya !! so gabh me leithscéal, go raibh míle maith agat, beir bua agus beannacht go deo. every one of your requests are still i mo ceann bar one….I really like that last song but dont think I’ve ever gigged it…its beyond my reach 35 years on….
my vocals are flagging a bit in lockdown….the voice muscles only get properly stretched at gigs….singing in the work room does not excercise them fully ….I need the roar of the perfume and the waft of aftershave to push the throat out..
Christy, a chara,
Thanks for the couple of songs. Great to see and hear you in action. Looking forward to the next lock of songs. An irony of this lockdown is that we’ve never been treated to as much music and gigs via social media and television. I was spellbound listening to Ye Vagabonds performing in Whelan’s on RTÉ’s Other Voices a couple of weeks ago and as result can’t seem to get ‘The Lowlands of Holland’ out of my head. It led me back to listening to The Dubliners, Steeleye Span and my favourite rendition of it by Paddy Tunney over this past while. I get you whenever you say that songs are your daily bread. It’s a joy to be able to lift the guitar and footer about with a song until you can live comfortably with it. I have a rare request for your next session: give us a few songs on the oul Yamaha FG180!!
