Howaya Christie, happy birthday, only ever seen you once at my grandads funeral in stradbally, laois. His name was Willie Power. I never found out your connection with him. Anyway, the reason I’m contacting you is to ask you a question. I have a large piece of artwork of a bodhran player who used to busk at the molly malone statue on grafton st. Its a woodburning gathering dust in my attic. Im trying to find out who he is and if I could donate the piece of artwork to his family. Its a long shot but any help would be great. I think his name was conor maguire. Happy Birthday Christy. My email is brendanpower2003@yahoo.com
Hi Christy and belated birthday greetings. I’ve written a song. Sadly I’m a shyte singer and even worse guitar player. However I think you could put your own spin on it. (I daresay everyone says that!) How do I send the song to you? I have a YouTube link. Peter
Hello William,
I hope you don’t mind me commenting, but I agree with you, for what it’s worth. I’m born and bred in Yorkshire and thankful to be rooted in the wild North. Rebecca
hi Christy hope you are keeping fit and well and I want to wish you a happy birthday have a brilliant day and hopefully things will be back to normal very soon
Happy belated 75th birthday! This week last year we celebrated my husband’s 40th by bringing our four kids to see you at the Waterfront. Oh, for normality and making musical memories again… Here’s to us all getting through this safely. Take care ☺
Hi christy. My names william and I was born in a loyalist heartland, namely, the shankill road.
Growing up it was woven into the fabric of my being to be pro British and proud of it.
When I reached the age of 17 my love of history took me on a journey that would show me the real Britain, a Britain that would change my view and beliefs.
It sickened me to learn of the nature in which the british government/empire operated. When I looked into the troubles of my own country I quickly realised that I dont want to be classed as british.
I stand against oppression of any nature and when I discovered your music it changed my life.
Thank you chirsty, I hope I can get the chance to see you live in the bot so distant future. All the best
I raised a mug of tea to you,as I was being serenaded by ‘Lily’…such a fine album and great production by Declan…were the songs recorded in a single take by you and companeros-perhaps that’s why gig venues were used and not a conventional studio?
Each lockdown day,I sort out papers/files etc…emphasis on ‘sort’,not ‘throw out’! Highlight yesterday was coming across an envelope bearing the autographs of Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy…after a great gig at Beechmount,Navan (ever play there?)in Summer,84…looking at it,many years after last seeing, it brought back a ton of great memories of people, places and good times…I’d be interested in any similar memories (prompted by a souvenir/gig ticket etc) of yours/companeros on here…
VE Day 75th anniversary today…thankfully, lockdown has banjaxed the more jingoistic official events…during the 2 minute silence,I’ll be thinking of my 20 yo Uncle (who I missed by almost a decade)killed at 20,in Normandy…’All for the roses’ will get a play too…
Belated Happy Birthday to You.
All the best Wishes, Health, Happiness, Joy and lots of Luck to You for your Birthday! Have a great Time, hope U enjoyed your Birtday. Stay safe and take care in this crazy Time.
Slán go foíll, Thomas
