Hi Christy. Or as we say here in Newbridge. “Hows it going”. Lovely to hear you just now on Ryan Tubridy. Strangest of times these day and adhering to the guidelines to stay put. But a day at a time it is all okay and it will be okay. I still smile at the day when you and Ronnie were together and I gave out to Ronnie for not asking me for a lift to hospital. His response was “I wanted to go on the choo choo” and in frustration I said to you to please talk sense into him and you said “but he wanted to go on the choo choo” at which point I gave up. Love you for loving my brother Chtisty. Keep safe and keep up the Kildare exercises !! Warmest regards, Bernie

I remember Ronnie every day….see his picture on the wall…he still evokes a great message…..
Best wishes to all the family wherever they may be
Well it’s that time of night Christy when i cannot find john o’dreams, i am sure he is hiding just behind that neatly stacked column of uht milk cartons in the bunker corner, but he’s well hidden.
Words and phrases seem to remind me of songs, the uht springs into mind ‘the powdered milk brigade’ from deep within the ever favoured yellow disc….powerful words.
Anyway ,realising it will be the easter weekend when we all awake, i have long adored ‘smoke and strong whiskey’. Wally is some writer. His song references the Easter time, of course naturally many great songs do, but his lyric was what entered the mind around 4am so until john O appears, Wallly P’s great song will serenade me towards sleep.
Good night, and good morning
Rory

Good morning Rory,
its all go here,
not a feckin weed left in the garden,I’m on my knees here waiting for the next weed to peep out… got this song from Paddy Nash yesterday
“Keep ‘er Lit” by Paddy Nash & The Pajama Band on Youtube….a lovely song from friends in Derry….Fair Play to them all
Spent the last couple of days getting my head round the fact that we won’t get to see John Prine play again. Such a wonderful and unique writer and a humble man. Always found his gigs to be a very similar experience to your own in that they too took on a life of their own and the audience became a part of the energy that fed the show. Saw this nice piece of him with the late Phillip Donnelly – another of those special guitarists that Ireland seems to produce. Hopefully they are playing some special gig tonight. https://vimeo.com/286208219

Nice One John..what a lovely post
Imet John Prine a few times…pure gentle man, poet and a troubadour,
played with Philip a few times too, what a great character he was,
there was a heavy metal gig in Dalymount park about 45 years ago…Judas Priest and a host of other Metal Bands… I played way down the bill with Philip, Robbie Brennan, Declan McNelis and Jimmy Faulkner..all of them now gone..I’d forgotten about it ’til I saw Philip here today
I hope you are well. Tonight My Dad and I, like many others how have recently commented were really looking to seeing you tonight. Your Gigs are ones that we look forward to for months and book tickets as soon as we see them come up. Dad is always! at the height of enjoyment whenever we are at your gigs! 🙂 and we talk about them for a long time afterwards.
We were very lucky to meet you last year in Christy’s Harvest before your gig in the town hall. For me personally it was a phenomenal experience meeting you and I really enjoyed talking to you. Dad was dumbfounded despite being a fan of ours for many years! “I’m sorry I missed you the last time”. I can see he Is just excited by you today and every day as when he was younger.
We have Obviously closed the shop a few weeks ago like many other businesses around Westport and the Country. We are missing our customers and friends and they are missing us, One of them actually Rang us today, and said it would be a great idea if we did a Zoom Group video call for all the regulars, so that’s exactly what we are going to do! Monday morning at 11 O’Clock! I have posted the details for the call on our Chirsty’s Harvest Facebook page. We would love for you to join us if you can, it could be a major surprise for Dad! blow him out of the Water! haha!
I’m a big fan of all your songs, but one of my favourites at the moment is Welcome to Cabaret! 🙂
With no doubt, I look forward to the day when Dad and I are at your next gig again, which I know won’t be too far away!
Ride on!
Thank you very much for your magic!

I love that Westport Town and hope to walk the friendly streets again before too long..to sup coffee in Christy’s and hear a few Tunes in Matt’s
One month from today my wife and I were supposed to be at your concert at The Slieve Russell Hotel that has of course been unfortunately canceled. We were supposed to come over from Kansas to England to visit her family who currently live there and then travel all over Ireland but looks like our entire trip is going to be postponed. It has been a literal life long dream to see you play live. My wife thinks we were going to England/Ireland to sight see but (not so secretly) I mostly was coming to see your concert. My dad stumbled on one of your CDs about 20 years ago (when I was but a kid) and I fell in love with your music almost immediately. I actually performed live Ride On for him for his 60th birthday a few years ago which was of course an interesting song to sing to your father. I really hope when we reschedule our trip we are able to catch one of your shows. I know I will be keeping an eye on your gigs to make sure we can make it work. Hopefully it’ll be later this year but it might be next year. Although, we just found out we are expecting our first child in November so hopefully the stars will align for us. Thank you for all the great music over the years and hope you and your loved ones are staying safe in this crazy time!

How is it going Christy,
Please find below poem I penned re the shape of the world today.
Every good health to you and family through this crisis.
Shay Connolly
The Coming Of The Virus:
Where did you come from, when will you go?
You make us sad and sag, like a weeping willow
Do we have to suffer, so the world can recalibrate
Is this the final chance, we ask, or are we too late?
Did you come in nature’s way, the Earth to regulate
The few mad men and women who were deciding all our fate
Stripping all our natural wealth, our lands and homes and all
Had you to come, to ensure, those greedy few would fall
Did you come to stop the burning of the Earth
Is your goal to warn us, of the need for our rebirth,
Does the lesson have to be, so terribly, terribly cruel
To stop the greed and put an end, to this global misrule.
Does it have to be so general, the horror that lies in store
Are we all guilty for allowing them, come inside our door,
Should we have been braver and thrown them all back out
Is it because we closed our eyes and didn’t raise a shout
We cannot fight you, with all the arms that we have made
The nuclear button, the aerial bomb or the hand grenade
Must we slow, slow down, and learn the errors of our ways
Did you have to come among us to put an end to all this craze
Are you far into your circle or is there more to go,
Have we destroyed so much, that the lesson must be slow
Is this our ultimate sacrifice , so our children can survive
Is this the final warning, to keep humankind alive
Oh man, woman, boy or girl, no matter where you are
Don’t ignore the signals that this virus spreads afar
There is a chance, that we could dance, once again in love
And pray it won’t be long until, the virus is a dove.

Silent Testimony is a humbling and haunting exhibition by a perceptive and sympathetic artist. Watched Mo Mháthair…thinking Pearse: ‘Lord, thou art hard on mothers’. As we know Tom is a cousin of Francis Hughes and Seamus Heaney – who also sat for Colin. There is a wonderful clip on YouTube of him discussing the Heaney portrait, including a reading of Bogland, I have tried several times to submit comment with link but not site not accepting my comment. Really worth checking out. Go well Christy.

Hi Christy, hope all are well and healthy, I’ve done 2 Facebook Live sets for all to see. Strange , Uncomfortable and wonderful feelings came out of them, second attempt was better and I warmed up to it around the two hour mark , the set was 2hrs 40 minutes. Little Musgrave got its first airing, it’s a labor of love to have learned this song , the images play like a movie in my head , I’ve connected with Jim Page in Seattle, John Gibbs in Germany and Tim Dennehy, Driving to work as I’m essential personnel for to take care of our elderly for the State, no one one the roads early morning, Tim’s haunting song came to mind , it reminded me of when the Chernobyl explosion happened, in some ways what it must have been like, and the effects it still has on the victims, April 1986, I sang it also .
By now your probably aware of John Prine’s passing and I wanted to share a memory of him with you, After he played in Tramore,Co Waterford on stage, he came out and sat beside me in the field and we chatted and listened to Ray, Shane and yourself, he loved the mood , good vibes and music, I talked about Ireland and our history, John talked about Galway and American , I told John your mother and father got married down the road in the Magestic Hotel and 9 months later you were born singing Kevin Barry .He was a lovely man and will be dearly missed, for some reason I wanted to share that with you. One friend and one co-worker have the Covid 19 and it scares the shit out of me, wash hands, masks, distance and wash the hands again for the health of all you love, I hope I haven’t put you to sleep with my ramblings but that’s where the thoughts have brought me, we will see better days and maybe a little kinder for the fact that we are all in this together, Love Fin

Hi Christy
I messaged you last November about the work of St Patrick’s Soup Kitchen, and the incredible work they do with the Homeless on the streets of Belfast. I was delighted that you offered to come and visit the Kitchen the next time you were in our lovely city. Sadly this ugly virus has put everything on hold as it tightens its grip on the people of this land. The kitchen’s volunteers continue to visit the people on the street despite all the risks to themselves, offering accommodation, food, Warm drinks and a bit of humanity. And even a bit of craic! – It might be a while before we can welcome you into the ‘Kitchen’, but I wonder would it be possible for you to give a short call out (Video?)to all the volunteers who give so much to so many of the dispossessed in our community? /Users/imac/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview/Data/Desktop/0_IMG_5383JPG.jpg
