My 10 year old really likes your music especially Lisdoonvarna and I was hoping to bring him to one of the Vicar St concerts. Can under 18s attend these, if not are any of your concerts open to under 18s?
Thanks
Seamus
Christy's reply
Seamus….This is a difficult question….I dont have any say in the door policy at various venues…Its a matter entirely for those who run them…I regularly meet younger listeners at Concerts where there has been no problem…I’ll try and check it out..if I get any info I’ll mail you…hope it works out…..
We have been keeping an eye on your agenda over the last months, waiting for the dates of the next Barrowland gig, just to make sure we would not be too late for tickets for the gig, flights and hotel from the Netherlands.
Imagine our disappointment to find out we will be attending the farewell concert of Clannad while you are performing at the ballroom of rememberance that night. Both concerts are not to be missed i.m.o.
Is there any chance a second night at Barowland will be added or do we just have to hope you will be back for another run later?
A trip to amsterdam from your side would also be welcome to ease our disappointment 😉
All the best,
Marcel

Hey Marcel, hope you have a great night with my good friends in Clannad
there wont be a second night in Barrowland…..
Amsterdam ??? how I’d love to return again to that City….Carre,Paradiso, Blarney Stone ???
Hi. Well the first day of the big annual pre sale is nearly over, although it continues til Thurs, its great to have this option especially when multiple gigs go on sale, so thank you. The demand for tickets is testament to you enduring appeal across the globe and the generations, I think the TM site was under pressure at 9am !! The huge numbers registered for the newletter must create logisitcal nightmares for the backroom team so fair play to them. So far I have heard from people on the West Coast of USA, Estonia, UK, Germany and the four corners of the Island, all set with plane and hotel bookings for the annual pre and post Christmas pilgrimage .Long may the tour continue. Such a different world….in 1964 the late Peggy Jordan gave me a spot at her club in the Old Embankment in Tallaght…it was my first time to get a chance in the then awakening Ballad/Folk scene in Dublin…she gave me a red ten shilling note before I caught the last bus back into the City…Tallaght was way out “in the country” back then…(this was prior to Mick McCarthy building his large lounge)…my second gig was out in The Abbey Tavern in Howth….I was given an opportunity to sing two songs, it was an audition.. I sang The Galtee Mountain Boy and The Enniskillen Dragoon…never got the call back !
It was a Black and White world back then….Donal Lunny and I had a small dbl bed-sit over Dwyer’s Pub at the corner of Pearse and Lombard….£3 a week…I often pass it these days and ,I swear, the same curtains still hang there…
I recall a night around Christmas Time 1965..Donal and I were traipsing past Pearse Street Garda Station with our Guitars ( rare enough in those days)…the Garda were having a Christmas Hooley adin and the Duty Sergeant invited the pair of us in to sing a few songs….bottles of stout were in abundance as we tore into Spainish Lady, Follow Me Up, Mary from Dungloe, Brennan on The Moor and High Germany…..I almost joined up ( standards were extremely low in those days) before good sense prevailed….shortly after I took the boat to Liverpool, Donal formed Emmet Spiceland…….all so long ago but the memories remain fresh
Hey Christy,
Hope you are doing well, we are looking forward to seeing you on Sat in Clonmel.
There is a group of us attending including my Mam(Violet) who is currently going through Chemo, I know you’ll have multiple requests but if you could play Cliffs of Dooneen on Saturday for her that would give her a great boost. Thanks in advance, Top Man
Cheers

Two days in a row, I got into the car, flicked the radio on to find you singing mid-song…Mystic Lipstick and Reel in the flickering light. I’m listening to your rendition of John Spillane’s wonderful elegy Gortatagart ‘…I sing the field, I sing the farm’ it’s a wonderful example of how poetry and music fuse together. I love his use of place-names…long meadow, cnocnan rua.’ Irelands four provinces, 32 counties in their turn divided in to baronies and parishes all having names as well as approx. 60,000 townlands. Our ancestors left their voice in the names they gave to the places where we live today ‘Leaving Home ‘…you ploughed the distance over syllables of fields leaving home and leaving me.’ Go well Christy and hope to see you down the line! Hi Christy, I’ve just heard , Clock Down to Zero from the Barbican, it’s a beautiful powerful picture of the horrors of ignorance, did you writ it ? . I also saw the added verse to cabaret, Karma is right, , and the boning hall In Tullow where I spent my summers with Keoghs of Hacketstown. The festival I played went great , a highlight for me was a older lady approached me after the set and said , “ I was different and she enjoyed the songs I sang, something about outdoor gigs , you sing to the breeze and the songs seem to gather old friends no longer with us in the air. I’m doing a gig this Sunday with a flock of musicians from all parts to help raise some money for a family who’s little child is afflicted with a rare cancer, the brave mighty Quinn from Weymouth at the Irish Cottage, good people are coming together, to help with the financial burden of hospital bills that the family are drowning in, insurance my hole. Someday we may walk the bog road for a chat, a racing pigeon flew over the house today and I hear ye have a live album on the horizon, I’ve sent 30 quid back with the pigeon for 2 albums, keep an eye out for the ould bird, she’s a rare breed, and cost a fortune, born and breed in Herbert Park , Ranelagh . take care love Fin
