Hi Christy
What a wonderful gig last night at RFH. Thank you.
We’ve seen you there many times and many times in Westport and, for me, that was up there with the best. Great set list, wonderful, beautiful playing and humour and humility running through it all. I didn’t stop smiling from start to finish.
Thanks Christy – you just keep on getting better!
Very best wishes
Gary

Hey Gary,
This splendid Royal Festival Hall….the architecture, the location, the acoustics, the staff, then the audience gather in a glorious throng… it becomes a magical place in which to sing these songs….
last night my mind kept running back to those early days of 1966…a tiny bed-sit in Gunnersbury…tramping around from pub to club seeking opportunity to sing…The White Hart Fulham, The College Harlesden, The Favourite,The Willesden Junction Hotel (when I heard The Grehan Sisters) hearing Annie Briggs in a Folk Club (Scotch House maybe)
then returning in 1968 to play in Ewan MacColl & Peggy Seeger’s club, onto The Troubadour, The Hammersmith Folk Centre, The Peeler’s Club,
back again with Planxty in the Albert Hall in 1973, Fanfare for Europe with Ted Heath & Steeleye Span (god save us !!)
on and on it went for a further 46 years, London always calling, The Hackney Empire, The Forum in Kentish Town, The National on the Kilburn High Road (With Doc Watson) The Roundhouse, Cecil Sharpe House,The Fleadh in Finsbury,The Palladium, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The Dominion, Hammersmith Odeon (whatever its called now !)
Ken Livingstone’s anti facist gigs,The Tolpuddle Martyr’s Memorial gig, The Mean Fiddler with Vince Power,Arlington House and a 100 other nights in scattered places…
is he ever gonna finish you might say …. finding it hard to sleep here…gotta get focused on tonight..back again to the South Bank….
Christy I can’t thank you enough for such a brilliant concert tonight and for singing the voyage for our family. Your music has been the back drop of our family life for so many years – long may it continue ! Look after yourself Christy.

Good Luck.
Tom Murtha.
Christy, many years back I worked in Windmill Lane and work on some recordings with you. Young fella from Cellarstown in Kilkenny. My mother’s uncle Pat Foley was a great Wexford singer from Adamstown, played many times with Joe Monaghan. Told us he played many sessions with you back years ago in Wexford. We’re burying Pat tomorrow, he passed away from cancer at 70. His sister Ann and her family have booked tickets for your Friday night gig in the Royal Festival Hall, May 24th. They were wondering would you consider singing a song of your choice in memory of Pat Foley, originally of Newbawn Co Wexford. Yours, Conan Doyle, Kilkenny
Hi Christy . On the mainland came to mind while I was sitting in the Albert hall took a minute to remember what song you referenced this hall on . It is a magnificent venue . Mark k did a fantastic gig full house he is some performer. Looking forward to the gigs at the weekend .
Because I am a big fan of both you and Sean Sherrard ( and know you are friends), I think that should be so fun for all fans to you and Sean if you could preform togheter in Ireland next spring. May take Barry with you to. Sean are in Vicar street 18 of april and a lot of his fans in europe will come to celebrate 40 year with whats another year. So why not do something togheter the day before or after? That should give more people a chance to find out wich amazing singer you are

Reading about Rinty Monaghan is a fascinating experience! Also, came across the amazing Spike Rhiando…Richard Thompson could have a field day, writing songs featuring these guys…
Thanks for inadvertently giving me intriguing /entertaining Sunday afternoon research…not for the first time, but usually music related!
Following you and your music is always fascinating, but I never expected to be diverted into the world of stock cars…having read about the excellently monikered Rinty Monaghan,I found the site
http://www.oldstox.com no sign of Rinty there, yet, but its a wonderful place to feast on old photos and stories…
hope you trace the man himself…

Hello Christy,
We are looking forward to seeing you again in London on 25th May. We will be coming from the Division 2 Play Off Final at Wembley where we will be supporting Tranmere Rovers. We hope to be celebrating a win. We last saw you 2 years ago on my 65th Birthday in Carrick on Shannon. You played The Cliffs of Dooneen for me. It was beautiful. I bought the tickets for this show last year as a Christmas present for my wife Vishva. When we exchanged gifts on Christmas Day she had also bought tickets for me. So we had 4 tickets. We exchanged 2 for a later show. Obviously after 45 years of marriage we know each other too well. I hope we all have a good night. It is great to see you still touring. Let us hope it continues for many more years. Best Wishes,
Tom Murtha.

Christy, I echo Lizzy’s (Tyrone abú) comments with regards the alternative Eurovision gig as well as her Ireland/Palestine/land of the free observations. Not sure if you’re aware of Ian
Knox’s cartoons in the Irish News. In today’s paper he has you fly posted on the green line to promote ‘Not The Eurovision Party for Palestine.’ A print will find it’s way to you. Go well! Mary
