Hi Christy. I saw you at the city north last Saturday and I really enjoyed it. I was wondering if you remember going to rose cottage in Fennor when you were younger?
Christy's reply
Hi Kyle…cant figure that one out, I’d need more info.
Today i was fortunate enough to be on a tour of Robben Island, reminded through the awful conditions of the words of Biko Drum ‘nelson mandela, listen to the people sing,
Nelson mandela, the people’s king’
And talking to a taxi driver of the dreadful world Trump is trying to shape ,and as he told me that we are all one people made with different coloured skin, i told him of the lyrics of ‘Natives’ ‘for all of our native tongues, we’re all natives here’.
With thanks today to you Christy, to wally page , to paul doran, to steve biko, govan mbeki, nelson mandela and everyone else who sings of or inspires equality.
Regards rory
Coming to see you in Bray in August. What are the chances of hearing The Ballad of the Little Musgrave? It’s my favourite song, you’re my favourite artist.
Hi Christy…..The last song I sent you was the Ballad of John Corrie. Unfortunately it far from solved our homelessness problem. But this one needs to be different. There’s no time to waste with British Nuclear Expansion underway. Submissions to Louth Co Co for the Anglesea plant are now closed. We don’t need another Sellafield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh27u-I0hQo
Hi All, I’ve 2 tickets for the gig in Knightsbrook, Trim on the 29th Mar. Unfortunately I now have to be out of the country for work that week (dam Brexit).
Would anyone have two tickets for Vicar Street they’d be willing to swap. Or any of the upcoming gigs.
Much appreciated.
Cathal

come back here again if it does not work out….something will be sorted
the cruelty of Church and State oppression upon the poor and disposessed continues to this day….our voices must be raised in protest and commemoration…silence is always construed as acquiescence…
Thank you so much for calling on 6kyle last night and giving him your pleck(he was convinced ye recognised him from last year ha ha) The gig was just AMAZING. Kyle said he felt like we were sitting in a sittin room with you all just having a jam session! Breath taking night!!!! You made his night again and we are already looking forward to the next night we see ye x agaim just a brilliant night
Christy's reply
Good man Kyle..great to see ye again..I hardly recognised you..you have really grown…
Hello,
Me and my friends are coming to your concert in Westport on Tuesday 5th of march . We have seen you in Westport once before during our bycicle trip 3 years ago and we loved it very much. My girlfriend Nora is a very big fan of you and she loves to sing your songs. Ordinary man and Ride on are her favorites. She sang ordinary man like a man in front of a big croud. I will appreciate it very much if you will say something personal to her during your concert on Tuesday. Thanks in advance. Greetings from Willem
Christy's reply
this time will be different as it will be a solo performance…hope you have a good visit
Hey Christy, hope you’re well! Had a great listen to the Love & Courage podcast..Always interesting to hear where the songs come from.. Today marks 76 years since an orphanage fire claimed the lives of 36 innocent people in Cavan town overnight. It reminds me of the Stardust in many ways. I wrote this song about the events from that night which I think you might be interested in hearing about: https://youtu.be/HiUgymA6LQY Thanks for your time. Kev
Christy's reply
Hi Kevin, thank you for sharing your song and for remembering their tragedy…respect to you
Hi Christy, I was at your show in Kildare at Killashee house hotel on the 8th of Feb 2019. When you asked for requests I called out ‘Beeswing’ and you sang it, beautifully in person. I wanted to tell you why I asked for that song, but obviously I wasn’t able to in person. The reason for the song is that in part it reminds me of my younger sister Mèabh who passed away in November 2011 and every time I listen to it I think about her. So I want to say thank you for singing it live and making it such an enjoyable experience.
Much love, Alicia.
Christy's reply
it was a lovely request on the night…and if memory serves we found a good version in response to your call out..thank you for sharing the memory of your dear Sister Méabh
Hi Christy .. watched your performance on rte the other night ..was a good song to sing and an interesting programme… Great to hear a new album on the way roll on.. see you in Westport Adam
Hi Christy
I want to thank you so much for singing One last cold kiss (2 island swans) in memory of my sister Pauline at the gig in Mullingar on February 15th. It meant so much to me. It was a fabulous gig, I had not seen Cathal before and he is a great addition. Also, I heard 2 songs that were new to me – loved Sail on Jimmy and have told me friends that when I go (may it be a long time from now!) that is how I want to be celebrated! My first visit to Ireland was with my Dad when I was 17 to go to his brother’s funeral. At the wake, my cousin (who I had never met before) tried to get off with me – so the bit about “grabbing the arse” really made me remember that incident from nearly 50 years ago! The other new song for me was the great one that Declan requested at the encore!
Looking forward to Tullamore, where my brother in law Stuart will be with me.
Take care
Madeleine

I love that song…it features occasionally and always stills the night…singing it for your late Sister added to its poignancy..
Cathal brings new colours to the Band….he has been playing music all his life….Although Trad Irish is his primary music, he has played with many singers in different genres. He brings that experience and musicality into our combo to great effect..
Interesting to read of you wake experience…wild musical wakes are few and far between these days..I recall a few great nights from earlier times..that song “Sail On Jimmy” (aka “Irish Pagan Ritual”) was written by Albert Niland ……
the other song you mention, “Ringing The Bell”, written by Rob Corcoran…both songs will feature on an album scheduled for release in November…
I have just heard that I will be in Ireland the period of 27-30 March. One of my favourite artist of all time is Christy Moore and so every time I come to Ireland I look to see if there is a chance he might be giving a concert. I see that Friday 29th there is a concert, but that its sold out. Is there a waiting list anywhere?
Hopeful Marion
Good man Christy. Thank you for your advice about slowing the song down, I tried it and your 100% right. With the lyrics I have written it makes the song feel more mellow and brings the lyrics to the fore. Its brilliant to be able to send my song to you for feed back. Thank you. I will repost and let you hear it slowed down when I get it recorded. Paddy.
Good morning Christy from Wanaka….here we are listening to on the road as we prepare for my daughter Danielle’s 40th Birthday celebration and of course you are on our play list for the party…we shall have a good ceilidh with you playing to us 🙂 X
Hi Christy. Was listening to your interview with Ruairi Mc Kiernan. I couldn’t believe that your experiences of growing up and your views for the world where almost identical to myself. It brought back great memories. After hearing you like getting songs I would really like to send you a song I wrote about the fight the people of Greencastle in Co Tyrone are having at the moment. Let me know if you get a chance what you think. All the best Paddy. https://youtu.be/AtfL-KtxwbI
Christy's reply
Well done Paddy,Thanks for sharing…I’m always reticent to comment on another singers work, its such a personal affair….but seeing as you asked…..I feel the song would work better at a slower pace..perhaps with a finger-style accompaniment rather then the driving rhythm…
Just listened to the ‘Love and Courage’ podcast. Great stuff. Well worth the hour and a bit.
