Hi Christy, we’re wondering here when you’ll be able to come and play around here. We’d love to visit your concert, but we won’t be able to visit Ireland or England any time soon. We listen to your albums 24/7, but it makes us miss Ireland even more. Booked tickets for Luka’s gig on november 3rd, in Arnhem, but we’d all love to see you perform! Lots of love from all of us over here ?
Christy's reply
It is becoming more unlikely with each passing year,
as a younger man I had no problem with overseas gigging,
I loved visiting new Countries and finding new listeners,
these times I find it very difficult to leave Ireland,
Thanks for sharing, Thanks For listening,
Luka will sing his heart out to you on Nov 3rd
Well done Easkey and Christy for letting it rip at the big brothers and their corporations.
Thankfully some of us see through their veil of darkness.
I’m an ordinary man, nothing special, nothing grand.

I was wondering If you don’t feel like writing another book again? You’re having so much interesting memories and stories to tell.
Since we’ve left the shores of Eire mid June there hasn’t fell one drop of rain nature is crying for some water and Belgium is getting crazier by the day now we’ve played Brasil back home!

Dear Christy, I’m from Italy and I was at Marquee in Cork some days ago, for your concert. I listen to your music since 1985, when a friend of mine told me so many things about you, Planxty, Moving hearts and so on… So, all along my life, your voice and your sound have always been by my side, sometimes to comfort me, sometimes to give me the strength to fight. For this I feel me eternally indebted with my old friend Paolo: now he’s going to get married (55 y.o.!) and I can’t imagine any better present for him than this official thanks on your website. What about the concertt at Marquee? My English can’t be so fluent for telling you all of my feelings. If I simply say: fantastic, it is only a simple adjective instead of a stream of thoughts and feelings and memories and perspectives, that you moved with your two-hours-concert. To be there, side by side with your people, living directly the feeling that links you to them and them to you…this is unique, and this is what I’m going to bring with me, coming back to Italy and going on my ordinary life as an ordinary man… with your voice, your words and your music always by my side… Thank you so much, dear Christy.
Christy's reply
Dear Pier,
Thank you for sharing…I send greetings to Paolo and his Wife and wish them every happiness…
Glad to read that the concert went well for you…we enjoyed our night in Cork…always a great welcome by The Lee…
I have good memories of my three visits to Italy…the first time was with Planxty in 1973….the wine flowed freely and we succumbed to its charm
Reminds me about some years ago, we were playing a county dance somewhere in upstate NY,A request was sent up for a lady to sing,,,she was a very large woman as Brendan Grace would say no matter where she sat down ,she was beside ya. .anyway after she finished and exited the stage,, I meant to say ,,” give the woman a big round of applause .. what came out was ,,” give the big woman a round of applause. ” our last gig there..
Yes christy its easy for me to sit in on a session, no one knows me,not sure about christy showing up unannounced, . Maybe a slight bottle neck in doolin… I’m still going to try to get to one of the gigs before the summer’s over.not a great fan of ticket master , I’ll try to go another route..keep trucking..marty

A few years back we made hard tickets available for a run of gigs… but nobody bought them…seems that most people prefer the convenience of Ticketmaster…
Miraculously my other half has got a night off on Saturday which nicely coincides with my birthday!! I have seen you play at the Waterfront, Electric picnic, Barrowlands and The Tripod. Your music has been the sound of my childhood and fills my memories of time spent with my dad on the road with the horses. My own children now listen to your music and it inspires us to learn about our history. If anyone has two tickets for Carrickdale on Saturday night I will happily trade my right arm (and my partner’s!!) for tickets!! (And a few euro too ?) it would be epic to celebrate my birthday with Christy and my other half. Let me know if anyone has tickets they won’t be using.

I understand if you cant but i wanted to reach out regardless. It has been one event we all miss and speaking about the memories over an outdoor fire during memorial day here in America we googled tours hoping you were touring in the U.S. but unfortunately and we understand traveling is difficult we saw no U.S. tours but we were very excited to see you are playing in Ballybunion but unfortunate faith for us and goodwill for you the concerts are sold old ? (Us Kerry people get very excited) We will all be home in kerry that weekend but I send you this message to thank you for playing and dedicating a song to my sister in Vicar street as i knew it was my last Christmas home for a few years. You also wrote the song St Brendan’s voyage after visiting my village Brandon located directly across the bay from Ballybunion i would love to know that you sing that song while in Ballybunion and if perhaps you do decide to take a journey to a great small little village in Brandon bay that you know you are always welcome and i would love to play/sing a song with you??safe travels in Ireland and have a fantastic tour ?????

Christy, I was just recommending Ballyvolane to friends traveling to Ireland. You stayed there 20+ years ago as me and my friend did also. You were performing at the Cork Opera House and you regaled us with great stories and conversation during out meals together. It is one of my best memories of Ireland. Are you making any plans to come to the States anytime in the future.

Hi Christy, we’ve seen you play many a time and are excited that you are coming to Ballybunion. We and some of the Buckley Clan have tickets for your Saturday night gig. As you are in the locality I’m hoping that you will be including The Cliffs of Dooneen in your set. This song is very close to our hearts so was wondering if you could dedicate it to the memory of my late mum Susan and late Uncle Liam Buckley who were born and raised in the cottage in Beale, a stone’s throw from the actual cliffs and where my Uncle is quoted as “saying” the actual song was written by Jack McAuliffe in the 1930’s. Much appreciated and many thanks.
Christy's reply
Thank you for sharing Marie
…Jack McAuliffe’s beautiful ballad has been in my repertoire for 52 years…I learnt it from Andy Rynne of Prosperous Co Kildare and also heard it sung by Anne Mulqueen of Limerick and Mick McGuane of West Clare…
I found a set list from a Folk Club in Manchester ( The Roebuck) on May 17th 1967
Tim Finnegan’s Wake
Mary from Dungloe
Gresford Disaster
Rocky Road to Dublin
Man from Kiandra
Spainish Lady
Cliffs of Dooneeen
Galway Races
Lambs on the Green Hills
All for my Grog
Little Beggarman
Only one song has survived into my current repertoire….Jack McAuliffe’s simple, plaintive, emotional, beautiful song….these nights I dedicate it to the memory of our Uilleann Piper Liam Óg O’Flynn….his playing on The Cliffs of Dooneen forever resounds
