On behalf of my Mam and Dad:
A huge THANK YOU to the CM Crew (after a ticket mix up) for helping my parents to ticking a box on their bucket list. In their words:
“Took me a lifetime to see Christy Moore live – in my 70th year – well worth the wait. Christy’s like a social commentator for the last 200 years but with a bit of craic, brilliant musicians it was a fantastic night of entertainment. A great start to the New Year.”
Thanks for a night to remember at vicar St last night. Thanks also for The Bright Blue Rose a Jimmy Mc classic.May you have a great 2018.Let the music keep the spirits high.See you in Bantry in march.

Hey there,
no problem and thanks for the response.
We will have a great time anyhow with you.
Have a great evening. We will enjoy the concert tomorrow.
Stay blessed,
Angelika
Happy New Year! Excited to see you perform at Vicar Street this evening. My girlfriend and I travelled from New York City especially for tonight’s show. Thanks to you I extended the trip a few days and journeyed to Dublin via Ennistymon, Lisdoonvarna, Corofin, Cashel, Tipp Town and Bansha (all while playing “On The Road” in the car). My GG Grandfather emigrated to America from Bansha in the 1880’s; I sat in on a session with a group of old timers in Nellie’s Pub there on New Years. Earlier that day, Tom Pollard’s son, Declan, brought me to the Famine Graveyard in Tipp Town where my GGG Grandfather is buried and to the Tipperary Workhouse (now abandoned) where he lived the last two years of his life. Tom Pollard passed away a few months ago, but Declan asked me to remind you that his father would have you reminded to “pick up your county medal”!
My deep thanks and appreciation for encouraging me to journey to Ireland and be among the first in my family to return home to Bansha after nearly 140 years. Your brilliant, talented music and storytelling enriches and inspires us all.
With Respect and Gratitude,
Billy Lyons, 36, New York City (and the entire Lyons family diaspora)

your welcome post added a dimension to last night’s gig..thank you for sharing your home coming with us….safe journey onwards
Dear Christy,
first of all a happy new year to you, your team and the whole band. You will be having your gig this evening in Vicar Street and I wish you a great time with all the people loving your music. I am really excited to come to Dublin tomorrow, to get to know this city and even more to surprise Uwe, my husband with your concert. This will be the best gift for his 50th birthday on thursday.
Okay, I will have the courage to ask another question and there is a 50% chance for a “Yes” – quite a good one as I think.. He plays “Ride on” and “Black is the colour” on his guitar and sings it for those 23 years I know him and I love it. So (50% ) , if there is any chance that YOU would sing it with Uwe on stage …. … this would knock him off.
Best greetings from Germany and see you soon in Dublin

Happy New Year Christy ??✌?
My wife JO and I are travelling to Dublin to see you on 3rd January at Vicar Street as it is her 51st birthday on that day.
Please, please, please can you dedicate ‘Lisdoonvarna’ to her (if it is in your set list) or ‘The Voyage’. It would make her day.
Regards, Kevin Davies.
Hello Christy, I just want to say thank you for dedicating Beeswing to my granddaughters at the Forum in November, our best memory in 2017. They’ve added themselves to my bucket list for November ‘18 in the Barrowlands. See you there.

Hi All. I see that “The Well Below The Valley” a radio documentary on the life and work of Tom Munnelly will be broadcast on Newstalk at 10am New Years Day, it sounds like a good start to 2018…may the well never run dry,,,,,le gach dea dhui i gcoir na hAth bhliana. H
Christy's reply
Really enjoyed that programme….hearing the voice of John again, Micho Russell, Tom Lenihan too, Annette, Nicolas and all the other contributors made for a great start to the New Year….
Tom Munnelly created a wonderful archive thru his life’s work and JJ O’Shea’s documentary was a fitting tribute..
recommended to all songsters
Sounds like you made a bigger impression on Keady than it did on you! Maybe Mallon’s Picture House was the diary entry. You were on your own that night, just the guitar and the bodhran. You just stood in the middle of the stage and lashed it out for a couple of hours straight. Legend.
I’ve tried the lyrics on here but they’re different to your version on the Late Late. Not to worry, I’ve replayed and replayed it and now have it typed out. Hard to beat the original…
Anyway, thanks for the response, appreciated. Catch you soon.
Christy's reply
You have raised my curiousity…if you could be more precise then “the late 70s” I’ll try and track back..neither Scala nor Mallon’s ring the bell….I certainly was playing Solo across those years….
nor did I realise that the lyric of Luke’s tribute had evolved…it happens with certain songs…slight adjustments on the hoof….
Had a great time in Iontas Theatre,Castleblayney this year….great Independent Arts Centre….
Hello Christy,
Only just found your website after accidentally stumbling over an old RTE archive of the Late Late when you did the beautiful rendition of Luke Kelly by Mick O’Keefe – awe inspiring!
I noticed you were reading the words off a sheet at the time and when I tried to find the words online I’m finding some quite different versions. I’m assuming the version you did that night was the original – Mick was in the audience. I’d like to know if the original words are available or if Mick has a website at all?
Many thanks and keep up the good work. You know you played Keady one time, the Scala cinema? Late 70’s I think. You were great then and better now. See you soon.
Christy's reply
KOP….
try the lyric section under “Luke Kelly”..your only a few clicks from it….
I seldom hear from Mick O’Keeffe. We first met in The Ridge Bar on The Castlecomer Plateau after a gig in Sheerin’s Lounge at the bottom end of the Protestant Road in Coolcullen. That was 40 years ago and I remember it clearly.
I am surprised to read that I played The Scala in Keady….I’m not going to contradict you but its the first I ever heard of it…
But then again twas a different time…between the buidéals and the capers there were nights when none of us knew where we were
Holy Cow, CM,
I misspoke! Just checked gig page and is far different than last time….. hmm…… I believe I have a bit of scheming to do…..
happy trails,

Timing is everything, as they say. I’m coming right in-between gigs, for fecks sake!!! It was a take it or leave it ticket, and no time to check. However, I can’t be sad seeing snowbells and being in Bridget’s county on her day!! Its been way too long away….sing loud enough so I can hear ya on the plane comin’ and goin’…..

Morning there
All the hinting seemed to work. I have ‘On the Road’ firmly ensconced on the ipoddy thingy thanks to my son, who must have had some help from his mother as he wouldn’t know you from Adam, unless of course you played a bit of drum and bass on Lisdoonvarna. The album has the same magic as ‘Live at the Point’ which was my introduction to your music a few years back. I keep listening over to ‘The Time has Come’ it’s a short song but says a lot. I’m just about mastering the hang of playing and singing it. You make things look far too easy.
All the best for the New Year to you and your family and I’m sure I’ll be catching up with you again along the way.
Frankie.
