Wow, I had a roller coaster weekend in Glasgow, the concert hall is such a contrast to Barrowlands, both gigs were awesome. Barrowlands though when the score is 5-1 ! it was a wild night in Glasgow. Then a few days with family in Dublin and my Mam talking about her wish to be buried with her Grandparents in Danestown spurred her to recall her confirmation in Yellow Furze and she remembers every turn in the road but not the last 30 seconds ! Then she said to my sister, oh Brian’s home, Christy Moore must be playing somewhere ! so now we’re inextricably linked ! Thanks again, Christy and kind regards.

Danestown,….. just across the fields from Yellow Furze, Beauparc, Ardmulchan, those names I heard repeatedly as a small boy….my own Grandparents Jack & Ellie Power lie a few miles west in Navan Graveyard with their Son Jimmy… a few miles north across the Boyne in Stackallen dwell my dear cousins….your lovely mail has me reflecting this morning, thinking how its time for me to visit The Boyne..
good to read that your long haul visit from New York to Glasgow worked well for you….so much has happened here since,it feels much longer then two weeks ago…been mixing tracks for a live album, been trawling thru the Scottish gigs to find a track to include..preparing now for Westport & Carrick-on-Shannon ,,but first we gotta go and see the kid from Minnesota tonight…Summer Days, Forever Young….
hope all is well with you….keep in touch..
Only managed as far as the reservoir Christy, my wee dog is 12 now and take her to silent valley to swim for her arthritis. Was down at the beach today (carnfield) with her and she’s over done it and now resembles a buckled bike ?. All good though! Glad you had a good birthday. When in Edinburgh when you sing the words “and we went down on the Easter road” I’m the Jambo who shouts “mon the Hearts” ?? love you Christy. x

that Silent Valley is a favourite destination….hope the bowler has straightened out…
Dear Christy,
My name is Trish from Westport. Can’t wait for Friday night! Will be amazing to hear you and Declan in our lovely Westport. Beeswing would totally top it for me – pleeease! I would also love to dedicate Beeswing to Pearse, his all time favourite song. Moved him deeply, as it does me. When he first heard it he said it was about himself. Sadly Pearse left this world earlier this year, at the tender age of 33 years. A heart of hearts with a depth of friendship and love that knew no bounds. A loyal friend to so many. Sorely missed. Thank you so much Christy for your epic contribution to humanity and belated happy birthday.
wishes. Rock on! Much love Trish

May I be the second to send belated birthday wishes, or the first to wish you the same stuff, very early, for next year.
Hope you are recovering nicely from an excess of cake and good vibes etc xx
PS I had serious plans to play Come All You Dreamers to coincide with your latest invasion of the Barrowland of Fable but, alas, the neighbours threw a little birthday party for me and I’ve been confused ever since because it wasn’t my birthday, not that day anyway. Ahem, was there a new song, crafted from ideas caused by an old book? Jus’ tasking …
Joyeux anniversaire, Christy…..a few hours late….. but being French my head was a bit busy that Sunday …. phew ! I breathe again ! I DO hope I’ll be able to come to a gig soon . Last time was Miltown Malbay two years ago ….

Very Happy Birthday from Beara to you, dear Christy! Hope you are having a wonderful day.
We are enjoying the glorious weather at our “green jewel”, perfect for coastal and hill walks. Last night we heard some great music in CTB, the Pier was rocking.
Many happy returns of the day!

P.S. The confirmation is done and dusted , at one stage we were having so much craic (and maybe the music was so loud) that a blast of plates fell off the walls. The music kept just going like nothing happened!! The lad sitting under the plates was eating his desert and had a close shave!!At 9:30 the whole gang instruments and all moved on from furbo to lettermore island until god knows what time. did you ever see those islands? lettermore ,gorumna ,inse gaine , lettermullen?
Happy birthday Christy. In your honour the ladies of the baking tin are producing raspberry and coconut cake with buttercream and raspberry sauce. It’s a mighty beggar with four layers. In the last month I’ve had the privilege of hearing you, John Prine and Lankum. I am very grateful. Thanks and I hope your day has a mighty beggar of a cake in it. xx
Happy birthday Christy. Hope it’s a special and peaceful day for you. Thank you for all the joy that you bring to us- it’s greatly appreciated. Wishing you the best of health and happiness.
