Looking forward to gig on 6 june (my birthday) inspirational to me for so many years, the spirit of your music has lifted me through so many hard times on all our journeys it has been a privilege. Proud to have had that privilege of making us feel who we are as a people. Thanks again, Barry
Christy's reply
looking forward to it myself Barry…I have always loved playing in Belfast since Planxty landed there in 1972..that was my first gig beneath the Black Mountain…we did a tour with the late John Martyn who played beautiful music in his extraordinary way….we were so much older then but we’re younger then that now…John spent his final years in Co Kilkenny..I last saw him at a strange Festival in Skibbereen maybe 20 years ago..Liam O’Flynn, Coolfin and John “Velvet Underground”Cale were also on the bill..lotsa condescending arty types there too, all seeking to out-pose each other…I’m meandering a bit here, dont mind me..maybe too much coffee this morning
Hi Christy,
Happy to read that you are considering a new visit to the Lowlands. We hope that you won’t forget Belgium. Maybe Ghent is an idea ? Luka likes this city very much and is coming in October again. Would be great !
In the meantime, we can assure that we will keep coming to Ireland as well. Last year that magic gig in the Great Northern hotel in Bundoran, so we are now planning a new visit later this year.
Anyway, hope to see you soon !
Piet

wheels are in motion (but totally outside my control)…if the planners find the stars in alignment I’ll be ready to hawl anchor….watch the gig page for developments in 2016….if it dont happen, it wont be my fault…but I’m only the singer
Finally got around to booking the room for under the Black Mountain so all systems go now. Looking forward to the gigs and meeting old friends. Great to see the never ending tour continue – Christy Moore winning out over Christy Ring for me this weekend. Safe travelling and keep well.
Christy's reply
just oilin up the lambeg here Johnny..we’ll give it a right good rattle across the Bog meadow
I was back home in the old country at the weekend. Hung around in Prosperous for a while had a few pints in Christy’s on Friday night. Used to be you couldn’t get in the door – now there’s hardly a soul in the place (all changed, changed utterly). But much is still the same.
Doug out “Voyage” on my return – love that album – Mystic lipstick, Farewell to Pripchat, The first time ever……
spinning on the turntable now
any chance of you taking a trip to the Rhine?
Christy's reply
well Baro..the few recent queries from mainland Europe has set the wheels in motion..it really is down to the various agencies now..the singer is willing but all the other heads need to put it in place…the pub scene has altered greatly here…between the smoking ban, the breathylyser and cheap gargle in the shops the poor auld pubs are nearly shagged…some of them even got toilet paper in but ,alas, too little too late..the shite has hit the fan…thanks for feedback on that album…seems a lifetime ago and caused me quite a few heartaches at the time but its still out there getting the odd spin…gonna walk the bogland soon..from Clongorey across to Milltown
Last Saturday we played on a festival in The Netherlands.
Headlining the festival was Andy Irvine. It reminded me of teenager years when around 15 I got introduced to the music of a band called Planxty. About the sorrow and sadness of the west Coast of Clare, Raggle taggle gypsies raving, Only Our rivers. Listening to the uilleann pipes and being mesmerized by it. The sweet voices of yourself and Andy. A defining time in my life.
35 years later I’m standing back stage, watching, listening to Andy Irvine singing You Rambling Boys of Pleasure. It felt like being 15 again.
Good luck with the gigs and enjoy the Summertime!
Any chance of gigs in the foreseeable future in the lowlands?
John
Christy's reply
I agree..its time for a trip to The Lowlands…cant understand what has become of my European Agent…mind you the last time I met him he was dressed head to foot in Orange with a map of Tibet where normally he kept his ipad and date sheet…I shall make contact with The Mainland and shake things up…watch this space John O Dreams..first we’ll take Mountbellew, then we’ll take Berlin
Hiya CM!,
In the bushland of Namibia! What an amazing country. Ran into fierce horsewoman from Cork (via Addis Ababa and Uganda). Discussed trad over Roiboos tea. The world is a wonder. You are singing me to sleep on the iPhone tonight. Thanks for that.
Christy's reply
them 4 fierce horse-women of Cork…..they turn up everywhere… forever armed with ROIBOOS tea-bags ( inevitably Barrys)
Hi Christy looking forward,to seeing you in Buxton in Oct I would love to know the set list as I’m taking a christy Virgin who wants to swat up :). looking forward to it all ready as I’m a proud Newbridge man forced to immigrate to get a bit of work :)…. Up Moorfield!!! … College pk 🙂
Christy's reply

Christy,
My wife and have planned a trip to Ireland to celebrate our 15th anniversary. My one thing I was hoping to see over everything else was you in concert. But alas, it looks as if there are no booked gigs. I was wondering if you have any intentions of playing anywhere between July 20-August 3?
Christy's reply
Matty….seems like we’re all on holidays at the same time….but check the gig page closer to the time…my booking agent often loses the run of himself
Looking forward to seeing you in October at Buxton Opera House, have been a fan since I heard Planxty being played when I was about 10yrs old, by my favourite Uncle. So really looking forward to seeing you and Declan, and if I could make a request anti chance you could okay Little Musgrave?
Good luck with all your concerts and see you in October.
All the best,
S.
Christy's reply
Hi S…..remind me closer to the time and we’ll run thru Bucklefordsberry on our way to Buxton….we’ll dedicate it to your favourite uncle
Looking forward to seeing Declan this coming Sunday in Whelans of Wexford St for his CD launch…always a nice night of songs…I’ve included here a bit from Whelans page and what they had to say about Declan…
Hope all is great…
bejasus Lar and you’re playing a stormer there for the Good Doctor….good to meet you on the pier last Sunday week…. hope we can stop these Harbour Company Latchicoes buliding their next berth…. the obsolete Stena Berth should serve as a reminder as to the errors of their ways
Morning Christy.
Just preparing my ipod for a weeks holiday in Nerja. Saturday morning I shall take a stroll on my own whilst the good lady sleeps. Maybe stop off at a liitle café overlooking the Mediterranean and put those earplugs in. Espresso and a toasted sandwich and the strains of Ride On maybe to relax me. No talking just watching this beautiful world go by. Along with some of my other favourites your music takes me to a place where there is goodness and hope in the crazy modern times we live in. I shall take my memories of the Warwick gig with me too. A great night. I wished now I’d taken the time to try and say hello and shake your hand but I’m a bit in the shy side when it comes to things like that. I hope you and your family are all well and maybe Buxton might be a date.
Cheers
Frankie

Hiya Christy. My Canadian cousin is Dutch and lives her whole life in Canada. Now she is homesick and thinking of her MOTHERLAND, Nederland, all the time. I told her to listen to your MOTHERLAND on You Tube, Now she will come in September to Nederland again and her tears will be running I am sure. Bye bye ( from Dingle 5 yeas ago as we had a small talk !) Groetjes ! Nelleke

Christie, I have a very special request. My name is Charlie and for the last forty years I have been blessed with the friendship of a special human being called Cahal Rowan.
Cahal is a very competent and talented guitarist and singer, and has entertained numerous people over the years, but unfortunately he has recently received bad news health wise. Cahal has never asked for anything from life and this is why I am asking on his behalf. He has been a great admirer and fan of yours over the years and has sat at my side for many of your concerts.
Cahal’s ambition is to play a song with the man he has held in high esteem over these years. I can only ask if it could be possible for you to consider agreeing to having Cahal do a song with you at one of your concerts, gigs or sessions.
I am asking for this request at this time because time is of the essence.
I know you must be a very busy man and I thank you for giving my request your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you and once again many thanks.
Charlie.
P.s. Can be viewed (not the best recording!) on youtube – @cahalrowan
Christy's reply
Thanks Charlie… there is much to be done in Belfast…the gigs require a lot more then 2 hours each evening….we also rehearse each day and have soundchecks too….there are 5 musicians involved…we only get to meet on gig days so there is much to do…regretfully I cannot oblige
Hi Christy, Hope you are well mate, Any plans for you to come on an Australian Tour ? Would love to see you in the Opera House 🙂
