My daughter Aishling told me you were brilliant in Cardiff as usual Christy ,sorry I missed the show but thanks for signing the CD after the show and being so nice to my daughter.
Danny
Christy's reply
keep coming back Danny…was trying to sing “Aisling” last night..its a favourite song of mine but I just could not get it started….
This ex-pat’s getting just a little bit excited about tonight’s gig – great to have you back in Welsh Wales. Would be splendid to have a mention for Elin (who has never ever been to see you before, and needs her mind taken off her driving test tomorrow) and Daire (who has, but deserves a night off from A levels studies). For both, it will invoke memories of Friday night drives to swimming training, when your music was the most requested.
Here’s to a faint aroma of 4711. XxX
Christy's reply
lovely to be back here again..just rode into town.first played here in the 70s….
The road and the miles from Cardiff were easy ones this time and nothing to worry about until 8pm tonight and even then the word ‘worry’ doesn’t apply! Dylan is delivered and safe! Much cheered up by the fact that the young man at reception knew of you and your music! Perhaps the world’s not so bad after all π
Down front again tonight, Evan and Annie Mae still revising at home but Mam and Dad are out listening the Christy. Happy days!
Must remember to thank your sound man tonight, he did a fine job last night as you rightly said.
Christy's reply

Hi Christy, Tony’s daughter here.
We all absolutely loved the gig last night, as usual! Just wanted to say thank you so much for playing So Do I for my 21st birthday – it rounded off the celebrations in such a special way. So Do I has been my favourite song to listen to since I was about 6 and last night was certainly no exception. Anyway, thanks again, I really appreciated it!!
Enjoy Llandudno tonight.
All the best and see you next year,
Rosie
We’re safely back in Nottingham after a great evening in Cardiff last night. You were as good as your word and gave the old drum ” a good seeing to”. Glen & Marion (bros and wife & Show of Hands fans) were well impressed by the songs and music, and the atmosphere inside the hall was great. Hope you have a good gig in Llandudno tonight and a safe journey home.
Shane & Christine
ps – Hope Charlie remembers the OBE’s on Tuesday !

I used to come to concerts with my partnerDanny who died suddenly at 52 a couple of years ago, we loved so many of your songs but one of his great favourites, he was a botonist and photographer, was This is the Day so wonder if you might be playing? However, last nights concert sounded amazing and Beeswing would be as always fantastic or hope you repeat the Ewan McColl tribute. Thanks for all the joy you bring through your amazing lyrics over so many years, So glad there will be plenty more concerts to look forward to this season. Anne

9 hours to go and I’m getting excited myself…love these trips across the water and a bit of intense gigging…6 gigs in 8 days constitutes intense for me in 2015….unlike1968 when I played 315 gigs that year and went to hear other singers on my nights off…hope to play a new song tonight, first performance…a song for all botanists, gardeners, nature lovers…see you later….Christy
You wondered what Paddy Kennedy’s in Puckane is like these days. It’s a quiet little pub in a sleepy little village and, except for one night a week in the summer, when we have trad. music in the bar itself, the lively sounds of music are long gone. Paddy passed away and his son James runs it now, a lovely fella. The back room hasn’t been used since your day, except for the odd birthday bash or Tidy Towns committee meeting. We locals regale the visitors who come from near and far to stay in the holiday cottages with stories of the days when ‘the likes of Christy Moore’ played in the back room of Paddy Kennedys … the very place he talks about before and after track four of his ‘Live at the Point’ album … ah yes, the ould ‘mushroom field in Gortalocca’ … some of us know the words by heart. We’ve even had people visit the pub as part of their tour of places you mention in your songs! What a dream it would be to have you put on one more performance, just for old times sake….. π We’re Madeleine and Bill and we live in here in Puckane, at Peg’s Cottage. If you ever needed to get in touch with us, we’re at pegs.cottage@hotmail.com.
Christy's reply
Greetings from Manchester….I will pass this on to The Home Office soon as I get back to The Mainland….I remember young James from playing Kennedy’s back in the day…I have no idea whether or not it can be done…the gig dept will assess the situation..I’m only the singer in this outfit…the backroom team dont interfere with repertoire and I dont interfere with how they set up the gigs….but Puckane sounds good to me, (and the Mushroom Field in Gortaloughta)….I hear some wealthy Yank has it now…are the gates locked?….had some fun back there when Michael & Bessie were in residence
Cardiff, St Davids Hall
Well, what can I say….bloody amazing, and sorry for being a gobshite, but it got me Ordinary man and being from Northern stock it means a lot!

no sweat Waff….it was a great night…your call out was grand… I’m up there reacting on the hoof..someone shouts at me ,I’ll probably shout back, someone whispers to me I’ll probably whisper back….its what makes us all carry on… for years I played in bands where the set was identical every night, right down to every syllable…this time round we go a different way about it…and I have companeros around me who are prepared to take the risks, put in the prep, who have passion for this work we do…..
Thanks for a great night in Cardiff. Joe (now 8) was awake for the whole gig this time, he really enjoyed it! Looking forward to next time…

Lovely little gig in Cardiff tonight! You’re voice was clear and pure and Decland’s playing sublime! Loved the reference to Peggy Seeger. I was lucky enough to catch her play a tiny place in West Wales last year and she was amazing! You’re version of First Time… was really special.
So glad we got Dylan the Dragon delivered safely. I hope he brings a smile to your Grandson’s face. A real pleasure to shake your hand.
Looking forward to the drive though the country up to Llandudno for tomorrow night. Can’t wait!

Thanks to you and everyone for three quite magnificent and quite different gigs. The superlatives are rendered weak from overuse so will stick to the thanks. Funny moments then…. Your impersonation of Shane and also the woman shouting No vehemently at the call for St Brendan. Most moving moment… Well Below the Valley and The Voyage.
