Morra Lar…2 great nights with The Trad Outfit….I think we have hit a new gear…the music has now taken on a true identity… Mairtín and Cathal have settled in remarkably and beautifully, Sheamie is like a painter laying on layers of colour, JImmy is like the heart beating in the bosom of our Band…The Rose recorded it all and if you ask her nicely she might share the fruits of our labour….
…………………………what do you think of this crowd of Honchos in the Harbour Company ( Dun Laoire ) they are some chancers…unelected yet powerful they seem determined to destroy Dun Laoire Harbor but they are about to have a battle on their hands…hope anyone who loves OUR harbour will lend their shoulders to the wheel….
Hi Christy.
I’ve been a fan since I saw you in UCD with Jimmy Faulkner on guitar and others. I always tried to emulate the way jimmy played that night. Magical stuff. I’m studying music at the moment and I have to make a Powerpoint presenatation on an artist that influenced me and I’ve decided on your good self. What i want to talk about is the influence on your music of Dominic Behan and such songwriters. Is there some way I could send you a few questions as such information is hard to come by. I was hoping that someone would have written a good biography but there seems to be none available. I’d be grateful if you could help in any way. The presentation is quite soon.

Christy I was listening to Bright Blue Rose there and the melody was used in a
a song where two old country irish men at a crossroads are discussing Jesus Christ as the son of a carpenter.and whether or not he brought about his own demise.
It was just two oul fellas gossiping nothing irreverent Have you heard of it and do you know what its called or who recorded it. If you don’t i wonder does anyone logged in know?

Hello Christy, looking forward to your visit to Basingstoke in a few weeks. Can you please remember the late Tommy Buckley (from Newbridge). If you can please include The Curragh to your list. Tommy and I travelled to your concerts over the years from The Royal Albert Hall to The Barbican and all places in between.
All the best

Hi there Christy-
Just found out I’m going to be working in Ireland from mid-Nov through December this year and was wondering if plans for any gigs might be in the works during that time. Been wishing for years that you would visit the US, and now just really hopeful that I’ll catch you in Ireland…
All the best, Kathleen

Hi Christy,
As you were the only person for a while who knew you were definitely playing Warwick Arts centre and as I believed you to the point of not getting tickets for Cardiff, I’m guessing that you, Deccy and me, may be the only ones there! Should this turn out to be the case… can I make my ongoing request for you to consider putting Hurt into the setlist…I will obviously be extremely happy to hear lots of other lovely songs from your extensive repertoire and promise to applaud enthusiastically. Cheers Steve
Christy's reply
they certainly kept it a well guarded secret for a while. Thanks to you whistle blowers action was taken and now the gig is up on their website alongside all the other attractions to Warwick. its a lovely room and I’ve always enjoyed playing there….we’ll dust off “Hurt” and if the air is right we’ll render it as best we can

Christy, I am having a fine relaxed day. I’m on my porch looking at my bee friend and bachelors button flowers just coming up.
Having a pint in the sun, looking at a beautiful river just below. Yesterday an osprey sat on a tree nearby and I could just observe. Life is grand.
Still listening to your “Where I come from” album. I have it in my mix with my other Irish favorites, so I am hearing your album randomly and bit by bit. I am currently listening to “Me and Rose” and am digging it. Yeah, having not lived in Ireland, like you have, during those “days” I miss so much conveyed in the song. But, I still get the humor none the less. And Christy, just your voice and the natural Irish dialect that you have does it for me, even if a lot is missed/goes over my head.
Some friends have pulled me out of retirement here and want me to play a few before them in the Purty on Friday. The aul Cujo Family are one of me favourites. But it’s a boozey hit or miss affair… Rusty too
‘The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll’ is gathering significant relevance once again. Fitting that it’s resurfaced for ye. I was living above a bookies in London in the thick of the riots there in recent years, everything was smashed, burnt & broken into, took the tellys off the bookie walls an’ all. Very confusing to be in the thick of it, but very obvious looking back… I heard there was a bit of malarky at the last of the Lisdoons… Groove Fest is all booked up, but I’m throwing my weight around behind the scenes being a bully to get on the bill ; ) Been getting ‘Spancil Hill’ on my books, but I can’t come to an agreement with the lyrics. I find words like ‘brave’ etc too loaded & I find the alternatives too flat. I’ve no interest in rewriting it though. Your version with Shane is powerful, gets the hairs on my back up… I really like the ‘original’ verses, but again, too long winded & once ye bring the guitar into it, it gets boring… Hope it’s going well, I hear ye singing Hattie Carroll now… Robbie Mcmahon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGKJDxjIFBc

there are such great songs on the air…many waiting to be sung…just been listening to a Sea Shanty posted here during the night
Hello Christy,
Eventually I got the opportunity to thank you for two magic nights in Vicar Street last week. The long wait for the gigs was well worth – now you spoilt us.
It was pure pleasure to hear so many seldom played songs as Easter Snow, Quiet Desperation, Two Island Swans, Casey … I too liked Dunnes Stores very much and Magdalen Laundries which you song so sensitively – Gortatagort was absolutely enchanting.
A very special DANKESCHOEN for Folk Tale! It is really a precious gem and it made our anniversary just perfect. We also enjoyed nice company around our tables, quite international. Except Hil and Adam there were people from Finland, Scotland, England and even an American who’s living in Germany (he told me about your Niedernhausen gig) travelling to listen to your awesome music.
Hope the Continental Chocolates are digested meanwhile and yourself, Jimmy and the crew have slimmed to function at Spanish Point. It would be fantastic if Spancil Hill gets an outing with the Trad Outfit to welcome Bealtaine.
Greetings from Bantry Bay, Traudel + Horst

I went to see yer man Declan in The Glad Cafe, Glasgow last night Christy. Himself and Vickie were marvellous and the young Irish guy David Hope is a hell of player and chanter himself. You could do worse than stick him on for half an hour to warm up the Glasgow Concert Hall brigade in October. I’ll be there front row and centre with my old friend John Griffin. I’ll be the bald headed fella shouting for Folk Tale. Only after you’ve allowed the shouting of course! Would have sent Deccie a message myself but I got rid of the Facebook and Twitter a long time ago so I’ll rely on your good self to let the man know the packed crowd in that homely wee venue last night were enthralled. I’m sure he knows.
